Back in the '90s U.S. Bank had a glitch with it's ATMs one winter. As long as you only asked for $20, it would give it to you whether you had it in your account or not. Well, I had just lost my job and had two little kids to feed. By the time they fixed the glitch, I owed them $900 with interest and late fees. But it was worth it. I told them if they would cash my $2,300 tax return check they could keep $900 of it.
This reminds me of the long distance carrier completion in the early 1990s. One company would mail you a check to switch ($30). So we cashed the check. The next week a check came from another company for $50, then $70 from Another, etc. We flipped flopped our carriers every week until the checks stop coming. Took in close to $300. Came in handy with three little girls who needed Easter dresses/shoes.
Wtf. 90s? Before 20 years of inflation you had 2k worth of returns and you were struggling? Edit: right you lost your job I seem to have glanced over that.
I had no idea about this until I saw this video. I know I'm late but I woke up on autopilot like " oh no". So, I checked my account in case my husband used my doordash and card. Well, there were no doordash charges, but my anesthesiologist refunded me a couple hundred from my bill....from 2 years ago when I gave birth lmao. Idk what's going on, but ill take it.
That what you call a stray. Well that’s what my stepdad called when he got some king of unexpected check in the mail. I liked those days better, when they only had your address and not direct access to our accounts.
I wish I could say the same, but unlike you, I am lazy. Doordash is way too expensive. Not only do they charge a delivery fee, service fee and tip, but they often inflate the prices of each item.
@@DS-lt7fwI used to work for a restaurant. All the prices as for waitr. Similar to DoorDash n Uber eats. iirc it was a glitch that allowed people to get free food via DoorDash, was spread around Social Media and eventually, just like the Tax Man, DoorDash came to collect what was rightfully owed.
Lol, if this happened is Australia it would be tough luck to door dash. If the bank mistakenly transfers you 1m your now have 1m. The errors of a company can't be push onto the consumer.

If a company you work for accidentally over pays you, do not spend it. That is not your money. Technically you can spend it but they can legally pull it back from your account and if you spent it then you now owe them. You don't have to pay them back but they will just take you to court and sue you. You wouldn't like it if they under paid you, they wouldn't like it if you spent what wasn't yours to begin with. This happened at my work and a bunch of people lost their jobs and two employees lost their court battles over it as well. It is considered theft whether they do it to you or you to them.
Funny wage theft of employers not paying or under paying is the largest type of theft in the US and when talking about value if I remember right more than 4x the value of all other forms of theft combined each year. Btw it's also the only form of theft that's not a felony regardless of value and it's mostly unprosecuted as well as the government rarely takes action unless over 70k can be proven easily and even then may still not act. The penalty for it is just a fine and being told to pay what is owned as well no criminal charges when found guilty.
@The Zanno I also work in the blue collar industry. We all thought it was a Christmas bonus. But apparently only management got one and we were just paid twice on accident.
Actually that just for basic simple returns. Those actually are free. Doing itemized, maximizing, and all that extra shit isn't simple. Scan a w-2 and that's it. That's what is free
Uhm it is free, you clearly just can't read the first page 😂😂😂 I suggest just paying, cuz if you can't even read a sentence your gunna have issues with taxes bud lol
This is why you never trust the word free unless its food samples. Even when the government gives out money for free, it's just got back in increased taxes.
If they don't increase tax it lowers the value. Taxes are crowdsourced though so the idea of the check is to immediately remove your current debt and form a false line of credit to pay it off slowly. Of course if you make under a certain amount you get all the taxes back. You need to learn about the other half of the economy mate.
@@williamsplays8528 You do NOT get what you pay into the system back if you make under a certain amount. I'm BELOW poverty level, I calculated I made 10,000 one year and paid 3,000 to S.S. and over 1,200 to state. I got back 434$ for federal and 127$ for state.

@iunno I am so sick and tired of hearing excuses for evil behavior. And the people can't mind the wage that much since they are still working there. I fucking love this video
The next week a check came from another company for $50, then $70 from
Another, etc.
Man I sure do live not being lazy and actually going to get my own food
I wish I could say the same, but unlike you, I am lazy. Doordash is way too expensive. Not only do they charge a delivery fee, service fee and tip, but they often inflate the prices of each item.
Kinda hard to drive to town to get food when your stoned out of your mind
@@DS-lt7fwI used to work for a restaurant. All the prices as for waitr. Similar to DoorDash n Uber eats. They also charge a 50 cents per debit card. On top of the 4 percent transaction free.
I couldn't afford to give a driver a TIP, so I ignored all of those get a free meal and free delivery notifications 😂
I use DoorDash often but this is the first I've heard of the doordash glitch. I'm so curious as to how this explosion was started
iirc it was a glitch that allowed people to get free food via DoorDash, was spread around Social Media and eventually, just like the Tax Man, DoorDash came to collect what was rightfully owed.

Yeah, its no different than dropping money and somebody else snatches it up, its still your money.

DoorDash never said it was free though. It’s not like they advertised that you could order for free.
yeah turbo tax is BS. there are free services out there. heck i used to complete 1040ez forms in 15 mins for free for students.
Actually that just for basic simple returns. Those actually are free. Doing itemized, maximizing, and all that extra shit isn't simple. Scan a w-2 and that's it. That's what is free
yea i got $100 from the class action suit
It didn’t even say the word free. It just wouldn’t show the total due to a glitch and people decided if they can’t see it, it must be zero.
