I've been listening to guitarists since 1973 .. never hesrd a sutch an inspired epic guitar solo. Blackmore nailed this in 1977 .. it's a masterpiece. The solo is the best part of the song.

Rest In Power to Ronnie James Dio. He, along with Freddie Mercury, belong on the Mount Rushmore of the greatest singers ever (and Ritchie Blackmore belongs on the Mount Rushmore of greatest guitarists ever). 🤘🫶

Ritchie Blackmore is one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters in history. In Deep Purple and Rainbow. And he is writing and performing ministrel music with his wife now in Blackmore’s Night

Yes, Blackmore is great at what he does. Dio was also great at what he did (RIP). But together, they were friggin' magic :)

@@jerrywoods4066 I disagree with you there, but to each their own. I'll happily agree that Deep Purple's second lineup was absolute fire, but in my opinion neither David Coverdale or Joe Lynn Turner could hold a candle to Gillan (or Dio). Only in my opinion of course :)

You're right the vast majority of requested songs for reaction channels are older, for me music has stagnated over the last 20yrs or so when you consider how radically it changed between generations in the past, I like a huge variety of music from Beethoven to Black Sabbath, pop, country, classical, metal, dance, but very little from the 90's onwards, I blame commercialism to some degree. Thanks for the reaction, hope you're both doing well, always a joy watching your reactions :)

RB is probably the best guitar composer of all ages, inspired by last 1000 years of global music history. His playing reaches the stratosphere. As Roger Glover said, once in 100 years finger of God touches somebody

This song is 45 years old. Ritchie wrote this as well as the other song you reacted to (Stargazer) as his attempt at a Middle Eastern style song similar to Zeppelin's Kasmir. A little bit of dark fantasy in this one. Babylon has since ancient times always been associated with all of the decadent and sinful nature of humanity.

I think the magic of the music of the past is that it isn't necessarely made to be liked by anyone. How many songs Rainbow have placed in the charts during the Dio years ?
There was a slightly risk that an album would fail. Nowadays they are not willing to take that risk and that's the reason why the music has not enough soul.
Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath were never constantly big in the charts, but they sold millions of albums !

After he left Rainbow, Ronnie James Dio joined Black Sabbath for a couple of fantastic studio albums before going on his own. I suggest "Children Of The Sea," from the first album he recorded with them, and "Voodoo" from the second album.
