- Viaje al fondo del mar: "Muerte al acecho". Season 3, episode 9. Sharkey is caught in the middle as Nelson and Crane try to kill one another aboard the deserted Seaview.
As David Hedison once said he initially didn't want to star in this show.....but when he heard Richard Basehart had signed up, he quickly changed his mind.
I like the submarine they have on the show
Actually he took the advice of a fellow actor and good friend who advised him while he was trying to be more of a movie star he had just done the movie called The Fly and he was also in a movie called The Enemy below which would later basically be redone as a Star Trek episode called balance of Terror his actor friend advised him while it's good to be a movie star starring in the series with the beneficial because it would be a steady paycheck the actor and friends name was Roger Moore
Further on this David thought that he ought to meet Richard first to discuss their characters so he went to his house and they instantly liked one another which of course helped with their characters.
I was 6 in 1966 and I loved this, the sub's design, the mini sub, the theme music, even the pings I loved. Thank you
Me as well. Loved this also
Look EVERYONE, she posted an excellent video, good resolution and without chopping the picture!!!!! Thank You Mona !!!! 1000 thumbs up if I only could!
Submarine veteran here, first time seeing this now I’m hooked 😂
Usually, the 'Puppet Monster of the Week' episodes are silly and way beyond the normal expectations. But these 'mind-game' episodes still hold some intrigue even decades later.
Such a great show. I bought it on DVD and love watching it now and then. Thanks.
It's 2021 and im loving watching this superb series from a time when TV was just brilliant Irwin Allen ruled with these sci fi shows better than most of the stuff that's on TV today love it
Agree.
Television today is shite
Exactly!
@@kathycavitt3089totally agree with you, i adore it, Nick Manchester UK watching now then sleep, happily.
When I was a teenager, in my life, I LOVE them all. The best show ever. Thanks for posting. From Brazil
Agreed!
@The plan here in Brazil we have a terrible President trying to destroy the enviroment. Thanks God Trump is out. Both were friends.
@The plan Troll
Great channel, this episode l remember watching when l was 8 . Wonderful to see so many episodes of voyage and films staring Richard Basehart . Great actor
he was the best
I was a kid when I watched this back in the 60’s and early 70’s in reruns. I loved the computers and electronics. Especially all the stuff shorting out. I retired from being in computer operations and consulting. In my 30 plus years or so of doing this, I did see electrical shorts like those on Seaview. Once out of a computer in a C-Store that was running and had hot dog water spilled on it. Lol. Between this and Star Trek, I loved computers then as I do now. I love these old shows.
This series Is very special for me. O have grown seeing in TV !
Very well !
Rest in peace David Edison, may God have you in his glory.
I feel myself nostalgic when I see these wonderful series. It's a time travel.
It really is
Yep me too I watched it all the time!!
Believe it or not, this is the first episode that I’ve seen since the show ended 51 years ago!!
Talk about flash backs miss these old shows. Lucky to the Internet.
Love all these science fiction movies and television 📺series of the 1950s, 60s and 70s . Especially Irwin Allen in USA and Gerry Anderson of UK.
Obrigada pela postagem me lembra a infância distante por favor continue postando assisto sempre essa série Viagem ao fundo do mar
One of the better episodes of the latter two seasons, this one harkening back to the show's SF/spy adventure roots, with Nelson and Crane as the subjects of a DARPA experiment into stress and mind control and Chief Sharkey as the control element.
Finally, i can watch and understand what does this movie about. Whatched this when i was in primary school.... thx for uploading this tv series.
Saw end of series as kid, and thought Richard Basehart was the most authoritarian military guy I'd ever seen...thought he was a real admiral...well, I was 3.
In the early 60s he portrayed Hitler. Freaked me out.
I believe the reason the show did so well for four years (despite some really horrible scripts) and holds up today was the way Basehart and Hedison took their roles so seriously. Basehart acted like a real admiral would; able to make quick decisions and he was definitely authoritative.
@@sharondunn7531 You are right about some horrible scripts..!! I am 68 and I remember this show when it first came on t.v. The first season..maybe the 2nd... ???... were very well written with believable stories, but it's budget got cut or something like that and the rest of the run was awful; there were silly monsters that looked as though they belonged on Sesame Street. And I agree with you: Basehart & Edison still took their roles seriously ( I can imagine how they groaned and despised having such stupid story lines ), and still performed ...'admirably'...!!
That's how good an actor he was!👍🤠
@@randybarnett2308 They Must be Great Actors to say their Lines with a Straight face without laughing.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good ol Admiral Nelson
Great quality. Love to see those wonderful eyes of his. And being in original version we are also able to appreciate his amazing voice as well.
Missed a lot of these when they showed them on C4 (UK channel) this was great. The way it started left you guessing just what the hell was going on.
I still watch VTTBOTS episodes. It is still one of my favorite shows to watch now. What a great all star cast. I never missed a episode. 🥰
This was the tv show that inspired me to become the captain of a nuclear submarine.
And me!
Thank you for your service!
Misterioso capítulo buenicimo saludos desde Uruguay 💟❤🙋🌼🌹🙋❤💜
This episode is chillingly accurate in its depiction of actual CIA/Army experiments done on soldiers with mind control and aggression enhancing drugs, like "BZ".
How sick!
Watch the Outer Limits episode, "Nightmare" where they used extreme mind control on POWs by an alien race which were part of the "experiment". Very disturbing but good episode!
I love it 5 minutes where Adm Nelson walks in on a napping Chief Sharkey who doesn't salute & says "OH ITS You Admiral". Great!!!
Chief Sharkey should get a Court Martial for insubordination.
US Navy USN and US Marine Corps USMC service members do not salute indoors and without their Covers-Military hats-not being worn.
Rest In Peace, David Hedison.
We've officially lost em all...
@@DakariKingMykan Allan Hunt (Riley) and Derrik Lewis (O'Brien) are still around.
@@sharondunn7531 Yes! Although Hunt was only in Season 2....
@@jeremybear573 Allan Hunt knew he was going to be drafted (during the time of the Viet Nam war) and decided to enlist so he could join his preferred branch of service. Irwin Allen held his role open upon his return but the show was cancelled before that.
Hedison was kind of a badass in this show. But then again they all were!
The perspectives along the length of the empty control room are fascinating
I'm amazed that when needed the set designer could duplicate actual complex rooms or partly visual effects ( now CGI are so minutely detailed it's sometimes hard to tell)
Gracias otra vez. El único capitulo que he visto a Lee Crane sin uniforme, y es una delicia.Y con su voz sin doblar...
Qué pinta matadora x Diosssssssss!!
Si, a mi me mata cada vez que lo veo.
Thanks to YT, I can now watch this episode which I missed way back when:):):). They don't make shows like this anymore.
The Captain has a spear gun, the Admiral has an axe. Never take an axe to a spear gun fight.
I'm back. I just suscribed ! Richard Basehart is my favorite actor, in fact it's my user name, and you have some of his best stuff. I think the two part episode of Combat was the best they ever did, because of Baseharts acting. I noticed you don't have Moby Dick(1956) with Gregory Peck and Richard Basehart. That was Richards best and my favorite movie of all time. The church scene with Orson Wells as the priest may be the finest scene of all time of all movies.
Just call me Ishmael, and a very big fan of that film, the book, and the story of the Essex. Amazing era in human history, when men were a lot tougher than we are. Sorry about the whole whaling thing, I guess.
Thanks for these tips I will need to watch those
It was the television show that first popularized the use of orange as a safety color.
We need to be thankful for that, at least.
The most dangerous submarine to be on board where monster and alien are always present to endanger the crew. That is why I love this movie
An interesting fact. Admiral Nelson had a small part as a priest in the 1953 film "Titanic" which took a "voyage to the bottom of the sea" in 1912.
He also played "Ishmael" in the movie version of Moby Dick.
@@sharondunn7531 If you all mean Richard Basehart, he was in Fellini's "La Strada and "Il Bidone" as well..."www.richardbasehart.com/html/fellini1.html
@@hudsony777 Richard Basehart was the Nickolas Cage of his time.
3 people on the SEAVIEW. Budget episode.
One of the rare times they showed the inside of the conning tower!
GOOD UPLOAD! Subscribed. I had not seen this good one either!
thank you for the upload had not seein voyage to the bottom of the sea in a long time thanks
Watched a couple of episodes today its still a joy to watch 👍👍👍
I love the music of the beginning.
THIS IS a STUPID MOVIE ! ephemetherson
Great theme music
I think he did star trek too.alexander courage(?)
These episodes messed with my mind when I watched them as a kid...
These episodes mess with my mind as an adult!
gracias por pasar video de viaje al fondo del mar me encanta
Watched many of these when I was a kid. I still get a kick out of how most of the show deals with the buildup and tension and then in the last 2 minutes all of a sudden everything is OK, like nothing happened.
Great picture and sound quality !!!
Válgame, válgame... a cuántos años después venimos a disfrutar estos episodios con el sonido original y subtítulos en español. Es increíble... si antes nos gustaban, ahora se aprecian.
Fun episode! Capt. Crane looking all sexy in black!
Muchas gracias... extraordinario episodio!
Pease post full episode of The Mummy, The Rockmen and the very first episode when Crane sneaks on to the sub to test security as its. New Captain. Thank you so much.
From when I was 10 years old in 1964 David hedison was my boyfriend so incredibly handsome how dare he drive a 10 year old wild with desire Irwin Allen knew what he was doing thanks for the post
Happy 50th Birthday to the TV Show Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea!
You have to give a lot of credit to the crew of the Seaview, especially during seasons 3 and 4, on how they kept such straight faces when dealing with all of those monsters and aliens every week. I would have been rolling on the deck holding my sides laughing.
@@mariakelly5 Apparently Richard Basehart was NOT at all amused and hated those scripts and expressed his frustration. None of the other cast members enjoyed them either; they wanted something more serious such as that of Season 1.
"Gentlemen, the flying sub controls are stuffed full of fire works. Do not attempt to launch."
Climbing through the ventilators.
@@johnbockelie3899 "thank you"
When this show premiered in 1964, I was 10 years old and in the fifth grade. I thought the first season was best (it was essentially an adventure show in the beginning, and pretty good).
As the years wore on, the show evolved into sci-fi, and became increasingly hokey (time travel, Mr. Pym, leprechauns, ghosts, blah blah blah) that we lost interest in it.
(Do you remember these shows: "The Invaders," "12 O'Clock High, "Judd for the Defense"? We really enjoyed those.)
The show got Campy with Monsters , Aliens 👽 & Plant creatures.
🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
mona you put up the best looking episodes ! you would certainly make my happiness complete if you could upload the episode titled "the wax men", or "the cyborg". the ones that are out there are so chopped up you can't tell what you're seeing at times. I am pretty sure that "voyage" has passed into the public sector and is legal to upload 100% of each episode. You make a lot of people happy mona, God bless you. Your cool.
It is not in the public domain. It is owned by The Estate of Irwin Allen and two others.
Is there any way to have any more of the full episodes posted? Especially the first two years. Or where I can buy DVDs? Thanks for those already posted. CJC
That red wrench has seen more service than Lt. Cmdr Chip Morton.
THIS IS a STUPID MOVIE ! ephemetherson
congratulation mona exelent series, very good.
Harpoon gun vs fire axe is a pretty intense concept for a fight...
Leonard Horn always directed the best episode's.
I think the point where he was producing It Takes a Thief is when it got noticeably better, my favorite work of his is the scene where Bruce Dern is approaching the spaceship in "The Zanti Misfits."
THIS IS MOVIE BEFORE YEARS 1975
I LIKE IT.
Brought back a Lot of memories.
He is the hardest working admiral i have ever seen.
And he has an institute named after him, where Seaview docks. As a kid, I was always confused by Crane being the captain of the boat, yet Nelson, who outranks him, being there.
the scene when crane outside sneaking on board the sea view is the pilot of the first show
Indeed and in black and white originally.
@@autk Actually, the pilot was shot in colour. I remember seeing it air that way on SciFI when they had VTTBOTS in their rotation.
I really like this show !!
My favorite show when I was a kid 🤩
Amo a David
I remember that show...
It was on French TV at some point but a few years after it aired on American TV...
That doesn't mean we didn't get American TV shows on French TV back in the early 70's but we also got A LOT of British TV shows and besides back then there were only 3 channels 😄😄😄
So the choices were limited...
I think this aired on French TV around 1971 or 1972...
William Welch also wrote episodes of LOST IN SPACE.
Happy Centennial Richard Basehart!
He passed in 84. David Hedison is still alive.
@@watchgoose he invented kitt on knight rider...

Good ep. I remember this one rom when I was a kid.
another exciting episode...I thought maybe the experiment was like that Star Trek episode where computer takes over and controls the ship.
There was an episode similar to that in Season One "The Human Computer." BEFORE Star Trek premiered.
Unfair fight! The tall dude in black has a longer reach with the spear gun. :)

A nuclear sub with 12' ceilings. Sounds legit.
Eu gosto muito de filmes antigos
I recognize a couple of the props for this show. The intercom uses audio panels used in American WWII Aircraft, and there is an AN/UQN-1 Depth Sounder on the aft bulkhead, starboard of the Control Room.
Hollywood should do a modern movie version of this TV series.
In the very early 90s there was a show called 'Seaquest DSV' but there was no comparison between that and this old vintage series.
Can't believe I almost miss the commercials of the time...
Admiral Nelson
Theshow got really silly the last two years but it was still fun.. this ep was solid though..😊
Fantastic show!
The Ribbons on Admiral Nelson chest what do each mean? You can see them easy at 1:55 that seems to few for an Admiral.
