    I never lubricated my slowing, tired, 25 year old, 6 Sheet capacity, $30 shredder. That could no longer shred 2 sheets of paper at the same time. After lubrication? It shredded 6 sheets with ease. What a difference, I guess reading the instructions is important.Thanks Traveling Trex I subscribed

    I just buyed one who is multi-directional shredder that is actually 6 sheet. I am Canadian, i did took it from Canadian Tires store wich is the lowest price was 82$. I did empty the basket 2 days ago and as I am looking the basket get fill in again, I was asking myself if I could literally take kitchen vegetable oil instead of taking an expensive oil. So I google it... saw it was even expensive bottle for 20$ even for the sheet as every thing is getting expensive nowaday.
    I thank you a lot for finding your video! I was searching for finding that video specifically. Not every one need to spend a fortune on oil for paper shredder. Its a rip of! Canola oil just do the thing! Right? 😁👍😊

    Enjoyed the video - thank you for the explanation. One question: Would it be a better idea to use Mineral Oil that you can get at any pharmacy? Last I knew, vegetable oils can become rancid over time leading to a possible smelly shredder, whereas Mineral Oil won’t go rancid.

    Thanks. I wonder why they suggest plant oil. it will go rancid. why not mineral oil? anyway, the paper sheet is a great idea. I will do that. But I use my shredder to make bedding for my worm bin so I will not use those oily shreds in the bin, I will probally bury them and let them decay naturally over time. Don't recyle your paper shreds, it's bad for the recyclers because it causes clogs of their sorting machinery. Cheers!

    I came across this video some months ago and did what was suggested and the Great Value canola oil is working fine keeping my shredder working well and clean so I became a subscriber here. I have a question how well do you think using canola oil would be on hedge trimmer blades as a lubricant? Being biodegradable being the tool is used to cut hedges I am thinking that part is a good thing. Without knowing about it being good as a lube I am about to give it a try in the next day or two. I figure if it is good enough for the paper shredder blades why wouldn’t it be just as good for the hedge trimmer blades? I am curious as to what this You Tuber thinks of the idea if he happens to see my question.

      *_WRONG_* . Never use vegetable oil for lubricating a shredder or anything else mechanical. Vegetable oil will turn rancid and smell over time. Use baby oil instead which is glorified mineral oil and available at your local dollar store. Plus you get the fragrance as a bonus. Light, _NON_-PETROLEUM-BASED sewing machine oil is another option.

    • @jacksagrafsky4936
      @jacksagrafsky4936 3 роки тому +2

      Even though it is cheaper there is the chance and more then likely will turn rancid. I'd stick with the oil recommended by the manufacturers. Even if they do say "cooking oil" is okay I would go easy when using it and disinfect the bin now and then.

    I love how glock makes its own bb guns and how they make them look so real ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxnX9wE_Q8zvF75Y5iWzTU3Q4FlrtyGApQ , the only thing is that the slide doesn't move back. The sights and the body structure is so similar to a real handgun, fits in my hand perfectly but I actually ordered it with the 40 pack of Co2 tanks and they never arrived even though it said that they handed It to me. Was not able to test the accuracy since I didn't get everything I purchased which is frustrating and that's the whole reason why I got the bundle so it arrives together. So the Co2 tank happens to be a third party so it makes no sense to put it in the bundle if it doesn't get shipped at the same time, the BB gun arrived first then the Co2 tanks were supposed to arrive someday later but didn't, which doesn't make sense. I recommend just ordering the gun itself so you don't get the same issue I ran into plus there's no option for a refund. How stupid.

    while the vegetable oil is environmentally friendly, I would advise against using it as a lubricating oil. Vegetable oil is prone to polymerizing on metal in the presence of oxygen, which will actually cause the oil to solidify and gum up your shredding rollers, fouling them and impeding their performance. If you've ever had a drip on your olive oil or vegetable oil bottle that settles on your cabinet, you'll know that after a few weeks or months, that oil is gummed up and difficult to remove. I would suggest you switch to a 'light machine oil', mineral oil, or even 3-in-1 oil would be fine. You want something petroleum based. I realize this isn't as good for the environment, but it is better for mechanical tools than cooking oil. For people who say petroleum based oil is a 'fire hazard' - I say it is no more likely to be a fire hazard than a bundle of shredded paper.
    Also, if you buy a spray-lubricant with either silicone or graphite, you can spray a page with that and shred it to add silicone and/or graphite to help improve the shredder lubricity.

    • @freedomearthmoon1
      @freedomearthmoon1 2 роки тому +5

      Many manufactures recommend using vegetable oil as a lubricant.I'm would think if any gum formed, it would stick to the paper through the shredding process and be removed.
