I like the sound of the airliner going over when you film the rear-end shot! It works with the fins! It looks like she is ready to take flight. Very nice car!

I had a '61 Newport convertible (blk. w/white top). That sucker handled ! In 1967, it went to my first wife in the divorce. She wrecked it in a few months. I ended up with a '62 Lancer sedan w/ 170 cu. in. slant six. I loved that Newport

I've always liked the stylish dash on these old Chrysler Newports, with the speedo inside a bubble with all the gauges, and the push button transmissions, and all the little extras like map lights and extra large lit ashtrays, and lots of sparkling chrome. Very sexy.

Your car looks and sounds great! I've got a '61 Newport convertible but can't post video until Spring when I take it out of storage. Glad to see I'm not the only one who loves these cars, enjoy your ride!

Thanks. The car looks even better now. It has had a repaint, some body work, new rubber seals, etc. after this video was made. Still black, same rims and tires, same grille. So it is still the same look, just freshened up.

Absolutely beautiful............word of advice: do not EVER and I mean "ever" trust the parking brake in these 1960 -- 1962 chryslers. As I am sure you know there is no "park" function on these push button transmissions. You have a small brake drum on the drive shaft instead......not a good idea at all. They are especially inclined to roll away on you with the rear of the car facing down hill. Buy a "parking wedge" made of metal that you can jam inder on wheel when parked

I think they finally added a real "park" function in 1963 as it was eventually mandated by the federal government. For some reason the other Chrysler products got it a year earlier in 1962. In 1965 Chrysler eliminated the push buttons and went to a conventional column selector. They also eliminated the rear pump so push starting was no longer possible.

@@1575murray YES the 1962 Plymouth Fury had a PARK LEVER you pulled down that was on the dash. Not sure if the dodge had it. But yeah, by 1963 all the MOPARs had "PARK". I had such a love hate relationship with my 1962 Newport.... If only it had PARK and if only someone on this planet would have been able to fix the "over charging problem" in the electrical system. In 5 years I could not find "ANYONE" in the mid 1970s that could fix it. I replaced alternators, batteries, voltage regulator, Balast resistors in sets about 5 times. Also the alternator would actually "seize" if you tightened it any tighter than semi loose, The car was a true "Unsolved Mystery worthy of it's own A&E cable TV Mystery Special.

I used to own one. I was sad I had to move and could not take it with me. Mine was factory black as well. They look sleeker then the 300s as the 300s have a bigger body.
