I don't celebrate Christmas in the UK really so when I am in Thailand over Christmas I do not notice any difference. I actually qlook to being in Thailand during this time of year to get away from the mindless mayhem that consumes peoples minds and money.
I agree it's very commercialised in Asia but then it's no less commercialised in Britain, Europe and the USA. The difference is it has greater meaning in those latter regions. Families coming together, people returning home and households inviting others into their circle for the day. A bit like the Chinese do at CNY and Americans probably do more at Thanksgiving actually. So for a foreigner in Asia, Christmas can never quite be the same because most people in the country just aren't celebrating it in the same way, there's no national unity for it.
Very commercialized there Jon. It is after all a Buddhist Country. I bet you played King Gaspar all those years ago judging from your video climbing the temple steps.
Honestly I think John your view of it is skewed. You left England during a time of your life that many things change/your views of them change. I did not feel any difference in Thailand v/s the US at Christmas because everyone here is just going through the motions too. I hear you making allot of comparisons between Thailand and the England you remember, but I would bet you if you went back to England it would look nothing like you remember not so much because it has changed so much, but your BS detector is fully developed. The world looks so much different when the rose colored lenses of youth are shed🤙🤣
Thumbs up 👍 Jon
My first Christmas here in Thailand. Coming from Alaska I find it strange but I kind of like it. I spent the morning on the beach.

Yes it's a great time to be in Thailand, apart from the high flight prices 🤨
Christmas in the Philippines starts in September, hop on over there to get in the spirit 🎄

Yep agree with that :)
