Drove the same car as a rental car in outback Australia 2 months ago. Loved it. Really impressed and comfortable. There are heaps on the road here in Australia. Good choice, Jon! Happy motoring.
I have the Everest Wildtrack in Chiang Mai Jon and absolutely love it. And you are correct, the extra power is overkill on the roads here. The torque is good for the mountain roads.
On long trips the food and loo stops are when you do the charging of an EV. Don't consider it as needing a 20 min stop to charge compared to a couple of minutes for fuel.
You will regret buying a Ford. You should have bought a reliable Toyota Fortuner rather than that. Pickup Truck would have made more sense and that would have to be a Toyota Hilux.
Toyota is smaller inside. When I bought my car I tested Toyota but it's very small driver seat compared to Isuzu and Ford. I'm not big around 95 kg.. Isuzu was better but then I went for Ford Wildtrak 3.2. This was 2015 still going good.
@@PXX-t1j The Ford 3.2 was ok back in 2015 but the new Eco Boost engines and the 10 speed autos are having major issues and the build quality of Ford is getting worse and worse.

Nice choice Jon. The new Everest looks great, they're big. Fancy, extra for white. Love your honesty, there's a lot of extras not needed these days. I'm looking for a new car with a CD😢
Hi Jon, not sure if you know that you can't leave the province with the red plates without a permit. I got a 500 baht ticket coming north on the super hyway just before lamphun Chiang Mai border with my new car couple years ago.

Jon, that is a GREAT compromise. I think, for you two, a Raptor is too much for Thailand. Living in Korea, I shake my head at people with trucks, especially for parking. Not everyone is a construction worker or farm rancher. I am still VERY HAPPY with my Kia Sportage. Even in America, having a truck is still kind of excessive. WOW, I would love to try the Ford Everest! Good researching man! I didn't know about trucks being cheaper. That's interesting. Cheers to you man!!!
Ford suspension is better than Toyota and Isuzu but it has poorer reliability in the long run. Anyway, up to you, it is your money as long as you are happy 😄
Congrats dude. Too big for me, unless you have kids or family you're driving about every day IMO. Next car I get I'm probably gonna go for a cheap BYD also as want to save a bit with electric. Can buy them new for like 600k which is wild. Hardest thing is convincing the wife she doesn't need a Benz or whatever to keep up appearances!
Why does so many people here in Chiang Mai buy such large vehicles to drive in chaos and tight streets that were designed for walking and scooters? You only got to drive around to come across people facing each other in streets with big SUVs and with very little sense of space who could get past each other but can't, then we all got to wait while they sort themselves out, or they just stop outside the market creating a traffic jam. It makes zero sense to me.
Everything you said sounds like you should have went with an older model Toyota? Less unnecessary gadgets better performance ALOT more reliability, fingers crossed for you mate you get lucky with ford
Jon, you kept talking about the power of the vehicles you tried. What’s the big deal? Do you really need 400 hp? Will you be racing around with your family and spending mucho baht to feed a beast like that? Just asking. 😅

Looks awesome! Will have to go for a test drive as well when we go looking for our car. Not quite the M3 you were dreaming off, but will do the job 🙂
