They cancelled Firefly after one season, and it was excellent. Cry me a river that this POS got cancelled.
They cancelled a better show with a bigger star for Fireflop to even be aired because the head of Fox at the time was a friend of Whedon. Stop carrying a torch for a male Feminist.
@@FirestreakRodimusPr
Whedon had strong creative vision but his kryptonite was H-wood cokefueled adoration.
@@FirestreakRodimusPr You've obviously never seen the show.
If it can reassure you, the series was entitled to a conclusion in the form of a film called “Serenity”, and which is very, very good.
I think it was Gary who implied that Joss himself was the reason. I don't know any details, though Joss is certainly a garbage person; maybe he ticked off some people?

The people have spoken, Hollywood
Your show sucks, your acting sucks, your premises suck, your message sucks, you suck.
The key is to stop, stop sucking. But you can't, you are committed to all the suck, every suck, because you suck.
Where I come from we are taught to embrace the suck, make it work for you as it hardens you to life's reality.
But your suck isn't normal. It is sick, twisted, evil. Evil suck.
Narcissists always blame others for their own failures
A religious perspective would be that these "Raylo" girls are enchanted by evil, which causes them to want to be subjugated by the evil they love. It's amusing that for all the wannabee wiccans among them, they're completely oblivious to the "legal" mechanism of the Salem Witch Trials being sexually repressed, hysterical young women.
Cluster-Bs gonna Cluster-B.
Most of them are not even narcissists, because secretly they hate themselves as much as everyone else does
Also, the article to read: "Why People Become Narcissists, Gaslighters and Cult Members - The toxic joys of absolute self-soothing prejudice."
Of course, one has to check oneself mercilessly for using a "get out of jail free" card to not fall into the same trap.
@SterileNeutrino I think the ability to be self critical and be able to laugh at yourself is so important.
For some reason they always seem to be lacking in that.
If it wasn't so hilarious watching them fail time after time I'd feel sorry for them but I can't wait for the next giggle fest when they do it again. 🤣
The irony of a "journalist" telling someone asking questions adds no value
You watch a guy cries about a star wars show lol
Its bc no one in the writer's room asked questions while making this show. Good questions might've led to ironing out some of the obvious problems, but we can't have that now can we.

It’s ironic, in their insistence to present “expectation-subverting” female characters in franchises, SJW showrunners end up stereotyping their own audience, by taking geek franchises and soap-opera-izing them. Geek properties always had a small but devoted female audience who liked them because of their geek properties, not in spite of them. By presenting masculinized female characters in soap opera roles, in science fiction with no science, they only succeed in losing everyone.

Even in the 70s, 80s and 90s, TV shows would be canceled mid-season.
What was missing back then, was all this identity politics and gender nonsense.
The difference is now 8 episodes costs $200M+.
@@barneymiller4088 Season 10 of Frasier (last season of a POPULAR show) cost 120 million$ for 24 episodes.
It's not a 1:1 fair comparison against a sci-fi show-- but it does illustrate how much something need not cost to be popular and entertaining all the same.
@@barneymiller4088Thing is, there isn’t a good reason for it to cost $25M per episode. Plenty of current day shows being shot outside the aegis of Hollywood that don’t. Heck, there are UA-cam series with higher production values than Disney’s recent crap and it doesn’t even cost a tenth as much.
There's a ton of shows I liked that got cancelled. These Acolyte fans are acting like whiny toddlers, and like this is the first time a show got canned
You've asked too many questions, Socrates. Here's your hemlock.
I'm old enough to remember when tons of Big 3 (ABC, CBS, and NBC) TV shows were cancelled mid-season and completely replaced - never to be spoken of again.... This is not new.
Anyone who thinks The Acolyte was well-written and deserves to be given another season knows absolutely nothing about writing fiction, writing good dialogue, writing for the screen, dramatic action, character motivation, or basic science. The Acolyte stands as a shining example of what not to do in episodic television. These "journalists" are children pretending to understand grown up problems. It's laughable.
At a certain point, it becomes foolish to ascribe stupidity or insanity to behaviors which are better ascribed to malice. *We passed that point years ago.*
I mean I know nothing about writing and even I can tell it was all contrived for the end scenes.
At this point you can tell chatgpt to write a full script for a stat wars show and it will be better than what they come up with. And much cheaper.

Weird since the Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor games were able to tell an interesting story and have a basically an entire cast of new characters and very few nostalgia characters AND be successful. Yeah it’s a game rather than a show but it still did something different that didn’t lean head and shoulders into nostalgia
The stories for those games were pretty boilerplate stuff, if we're being honest.
But I'd take that any day, and twice on Sunday, over the garbage that is Disney Star Wars.
The games get a ton of leeway because the gameplay is fun, which I’m fine with. TV shows and movies don’t get that same leeway, they need to be much better written to keep a viewer’s interest.

You know who is the marginalized group these days? Actual Star Wars fans. Those of us who have been around since 1977 have one question. WTF is wrong with Disney?
I feel marginalized. I don't feel seen OR heard. Please Disney... stop beating a dead taun taun.
I’ve been around since 2000 during the prequels but I knew the original trilogy was the best and the prequels sat comfortably next to them in second. But I remember when Star Wars was just a fun sci fi universe and not a bloated festering corpse at Disney.
@@maxmazzotti6651 I actually like the prequels more.
I will never forget being in the theater in October 1977 and being blown away by the opening fanfare, and the awe I felt as acres and acres of Star Destroyer roared by overhead. I was hooked. And when Darth Vader made his appearance, heralded by the ominous music, and strode through the bodies of dead Rebels, you knew this was the Big Baddie, and that he wasn't fucking around. For most of the movie I thought he was a robot, so mechanical did he look and act.
THAT was and will always BE Star Wars!
What I love the most is that, because of their woke pandering, they have inadvertently shown that they support men’s rights when it comes to parental rights.
Think about it. The obvious “woman” in the relationship of Osha/Mae parents says “I carried them for 9 months” while trying to convince Swirly-head McBipoc to let her make the choice for their futures. And what does Swirly-head McBipoc do, she says “I created them”, and then proceeds to ignore the wishes of the mother.
So, even in the Lesbian Space Witches Super Awesome Super Flammable Space Retreat, actual mothers need to learn to shut the hell up and get in line.
I’m still amazed that they felt comfortable enough to make that ‘There Are More Of Us’ video. They really believed that shit. And the few tech-savvies were looking at each other like, “Do you think we should tell them?”
They like to play the optics game.
Until reality comes a knocking and reveals that they are not what they claim.
Corproate marketing and political activists have been padding their numbers on the size of the LGBT community for at least a decade. Its one reason they have consistently expanded it from LGBT to LGBTQIAA+. They are only now starting to - *very quietly* - revise it down. (E.g. Recently saw studies putting the percentage of homosexuals at under 4%, when 10% was what they regularly cited in the 2010s.)
But for a long time they have pushed the idea that this demo is about 20-25%. In reality I would expect all total it comes in at under 10%.
And it sounds like this is what the Acolyte drew. 10% of star wars fans.
You are being too generous perhaps? Under 2% total, if that.
They live in Hollywood, so tbf, the percentage in their daily lives IS probably that high. But they’re obviously out of touch with normal people in the rest of the country.

Making Star Wars should be a process of competitive excellence. That's what's so damned frustrating - the corpo suck, insider access, favoritism, mediocrity, and profound confusion about what makes a decent story.
The biggest failure of the "modern audience" myth is the belief that the existing audience would stay if the core product changes to accommodate the attempt to bring in a "new" audience and/or enough "new" audience can or will be brought in to replace the inevitable amount of existing audience that leaves once that product changes.

"Jedi Bad" or more like, "there are things to criticize about the Jedi" is not remotely a new thing. And there are very much things to criticize about the Jedi Order. The prequel/Clone Wars era explored a lot of those things, and a lot of those things were improved by Luke in his New Jedi Order. People that get pissy when you rightfully criticize the Jedi are just as silly as the diznee shills in some ways. That theme or whatever was not the problem with the Acolyte. The problem was that the people making it are reeeetarded, both hate and know nothing whatsoever about Star Wars, and are incapable of crafting an even half watchable story.
Prequel writing is looking better every day since Disney got Star Wars
@@maxmazzotti6651 sure is! I mean I love the prequels- the movies themselves and that whole era in general (very much excluding TCW as it is lore breaking, character-bastardizing trash) - but it is all looking better than ever these days.
Well, there’s a huge difference between questioning the methods and secrecy (a la KOTOR) and outright making the Jedi evil. When questioned before, it was always, “How did we go wrong, how did we allow this Jedi to fall to the Dark Side? Was it our fault?”
The Dark Side has always been the evil in the Star Wars universe. Jedi can and do fall to the Dark Side, but the Dark Side is the evil, not the Jedi Order themselves. The intentions of the Jedi always remain good despite them failing numerous times, and that’s what a lot of people like. When their intentions as a whole become nonsensical and evil, then people have issues, because they’re no longer the Jedi. They’re an allegorical insert for the status quo, a modern government, and Hollywood writers just NEED to subvert that. And people hate it, myself included. Just write Star Wars.
@@samael4550 Yes, completely agree with all that. It just when discussing the Acolyte disaster, a good amount of people sound like saying anything negative about the Jedi is woke or whatever and that's just utterly inaccurate and dumb

23:40 Marxism is not brought up often enough in these talks. Kirsche is on point.
Do you know why all this “force is female” bullshit misses the mark? It’s in the original film from 1977.
Pay attention to Leia. Her first scene, you see her bent over R2D2, which comes back when you see her holographic message. The next scene, she shoots and kills a stormtrooper when she is outnumbered. The next scene, she throws shade at Vader and then lies to him about the plans. The scene after that, she throws shade at Tarkin, lies to him about the location of the Rebel base and then watches her home planet destroyed. In the scene after that, she throws shade at her guards, asking Luke, “aren’t you a little short for a stormtrooper?” Once out of her cell, she asks Han, “did you have a plan for getting out?” which was throwing serious shade at a rank amateur. She was the Cooler king in The Great Escape during those scenes.
Did you notice that she picked up a blaster from a dead stormtrooper like it was no big deal before that? That was a continuity error that wasn’t a continuity error. It didn’t need to be shown, to the right audience.
Leia was the one who decided “anywhere but here” was better than waiting for the stormtroopers to storm the detention block with greater numbers and went first into the garbage chute throwing shade at Han when she did it.
And watch her shots. She never misses. Every single time she fires, she hits and kills a stormtrooper. Leia has fire discipline, unlike Han and she aims like a trained soldier, unlike Luke. You even see her aim and not fire in one scene.
She makes the comment “it’s not going to do us a lot of good if he gets himself killed” when Han goes chasing off after retreating stormtroopers. That’s the kind of comment that comes from a sergeant in the old war movies.
She makes the comment “you came in that? I am impressed” when she sees the Falcon, which tells you she is used to top-of-the-line military vessels.
During the Battle of Yavin, she isn’t worried about Luke or any of the other pilots. She is listening to the messages coming in, wondering if she made a mistake by not ordering a withdrawal and debating whether or not to step in and relieve the commander, her underling. She was Ike in The Longest Day in that scene.
During the medal ceremony, she has a look that says, “I can’t believe you two dipshits pulled this off.”
They can’t write a strong female lead, because they already had one to model future female characters on. That’s why Jen in Rogue One worked and Rey didn’t. They had a flimsy backstory for both, but the untold backstory led to their actions for Jen and Leia, but not for Rey. They jumped from abandoned scavenger to bad-ass Jedi without any of the process in between to get there. It took Luke two films to get to what Rey was in the first sequel and that’s why it didn’t work.
If you want a successful strong female lead, give us the Leia backstory that shows how she was the disciplined soldier in the escape from the Death Star. Because from what I could see, Han & Luke only opened the door so she could escape.
90% of the audience heard “rescue the princess” and their brains pigeon-holed her into that weak, defenseless woman stereotype, so they never saw what I did. Lucas gave you the strongest female character in film and then stuck the idea into your head that made you not see what you were seeing. Leia even used it in Return of the Jedi when she showed Han the blaster when the stormtrooper was behind him, telling him to surrender.
That’s why Kathleen Kennedy and her morons can’t do what they are trying to do. They can’t follow the template of the understated bad-ass that Lucas wrote into Leia. He showed you her being the baddest of the bunch and told you she was the helpless princess who needing saving. Did you see it or did you buy the hype?
“The force is female” misses the point. Star Wars has feminist messages spread throughout it. The force is male & female. To quote Yoda, “that is why you fail” which if you missed it, he would have said as “why you fail, that is” using his normal pattern of speech. Every time he breaks his pattern of speech, it is an important line, such as “no, there is another” instead of “no, another, there is.”
That’s just my take on it. It could just be bantha poodoo, I suppose.
You may not have noticed how strong and well written Leia was, but your brain did.

Keep in mind this woman is a happy merchant. Why are all these conservatives too afraid to call out these happy merchants with clapping hands and funny little hats?
'Conservative' has no meaning now, other than 'anyone even slightly right of psychotic-sociopathic left.' As for that lineage you hint about, no one ever mentions that no person can validly claim that heritage, and at the same time anyone can, because all their historical and personal records were very thoroughly destroyed by the Romans, intentionally, mid-first century A.D., C.E., in a successful attempt to destroy their nation.
Because this particular race of people are not a hive mind and aren't biologically predisposed to controlling the entire world.
Call the person out for being a garbage person with garbage ideas...Not some made up outdated funny mustache painter man delusion.
Madam Savvy is a win for this stream.
"Lesbian Headlamp" 😂🤣
7:22 Tbf, some of them don't whine like that. They just send love letters to actual serial killers in prison.
As any normal person would do.
The target audience did show up for this show…the group is just TINY and that’s the point. It’s like making a show geared towards only conjoined twins…
The "Silent Majority" actually spoke by not watching their show. They are the "Vocal Minority" and the "Toxic Fanbase" that they are projecting on everyone else. If they actually had the sizable audience that they say they had, they'd have had the streams.
"This show isn't for you, toxic fans!"
(series gets cancelled for low views)
"You toxic fans didn't watch our show. This is _your_ fault!"
When you write it out, it becomes clear how insane and illogical these people are.
cant wait to forget about this same as echo, willow, and batgirl
You made that last one up
The High Republic was supposed to be the time when the Jedi were NOT blind and self centred, the Arthurian ideal.
If they were really interested in expanding the franchise instead of just planting their cult flag on it, we wouldn’t have got lame slash fic where the Jedi are evil because they must be the patriarchy because they have some authority.
It all started IMO with wanting something like Darth Revan, yet they proclaimed the EU didn't exist anymore since Disney took over. None of the decades of books, games, lore ever mattered.
YET After that, Ben Skywalker was stripped to make Kylo Ren. Even then they did it horribly.
Then we got this half good/half evil nonsense without any struggle or reasoning for said duality representing what Revan went through.
Instead of making up terrible plot lines, storytelling, and character creation - just do The Old Republic.
But they won't. They can't stick to a solid piece of work that fans love and adore - let's just take what we want and indoctrinate the rest with woke nonsense.
I'm so done with Star Wars.
Don't ask questions, just consume product
Mercante is like a caricature of a real person. A badly written character.
So...A leftist.
Cluster-Bs gonna Cluster-B.
Stargate Universe was finding its footing, the writing was getting good, the cast gelling and caring about each other was coming across the screen into genuine moments, the plot getting really fun, and BAM canceled.....The Acolyte was complete propaganda garbage from the opening scene on...
SGU had an identity crisis at the start. It felt like it was trying to be Battlestar Galactica but with a CW twist. The writing did get better towards the end. I would have preferred to have a Stargate Atlantis movie or two instead of SGU.
Disney fucked up by not following the books. Yuzan Vong would have been amazing
The YouZung Vong are really terrifying villains. Bio mechanical and savage. Basically a more intelligent version of Xenomorphs that are also like Predators.
YUUZHAN VONG
The demographic did show up for it & supported it in the usual way. Bleat about it on social media and only 1% of them actually watch it.
They bought Marvel and Star Wars to have male products. Everything except Aladdin was princess properties.
They bought it inorder to destroy it.
I think they bought Marvel and Star Wars and thought it was going to be a win-win for them, they were either going to make Star Wars the way they wanted and hope it would be popular and they would make money or it wouldn't make money and they would just sit on it and eliminate that kind of competition and the same with Marvel and Indiana Jones if they couldn't make money off of the properties they would not have to compete with them either.
But how did their target audience get lost? Star Wars feel off near instantly while it took until after Endgame to have Marvel fall off.
@@maxmazzotti6651 They lost their audience because 2011 board member retirements and George and Bob making the Kathleen deal.
Prior to that, investors voted on acquiring male oriented franchises to balance their business which was not very stable with the hit or miss young women demographic.
Aladdin was a princess. Change my mind.
Almost $450 million into 2 shows (Secret Invasion and Acolyte) with poorly thought out and written stories directed by inexperienced creatives?
Where is the money actually going because it doesn't look like its into these shows? Thats the biggest story here.
The very worst thing they did was hand Star Wars over to amateur filmmakers. Put aside all the ideology for a minute. If Greta Gerwig directed and wrote The Acolyte, it would have been better. I still would have hated all the feminist messaging, but at least it would be of the quality we should expect.
It has quite a bit to do with the group of people assembled around someone, whether intentional or not, and the ability to organize the efforts. This era causes me to question everyone's success, or lack of it.
It certainly exposes Kathleen Kennedy as a huge fraud who obviously had no valuable input into any movies from back in the day.
She truly was just the coffee fetcher. 🤣
For a plateform that doesn't like your content, they sure push a lot of ads per video !
The talking avatars are creepy af. Why to content creators do that
Vtubers. You want people to see your emotions, but not your face. Compromise
The fact that that video ends on a woman saying "She's not wrong" is masterful editing. That is funny as hell. Good job!
can somebody explain how mike zeroh's channel is allowed to operate on youtube? i can only imagine all of his vids get reported for misleading
Can’t understand how he’s just gone over 400K subs, nothing on the channel has any merit.
@RyandlaKinelberg
Your user name is hilarious af
Whoever truly is to blame for its cancellation - Thanks! Appreciate it! Keep it up!
50 shades, fan fiction is not going to save Star Wars.
It surely depends upon WHICH FAN? Because a whole bunch of em could surely do a whole bunch better!
There have been many beloved shows I remember growing up getting cancelled but none had the insane cope that the Acolyte has. At the very least, there was a writing campaign. Especially if the show was on the bubble which gave it a chance.
I bet if everyone just ignores Alyssa Mercante she'll fade away.
When do collectivists EVER simply go away when ignoring them?
They PREFER that you ignore them. 🤣
