Can you please, at least once allow teams to take their time? Because many times in the past, great ideas were dragged down by an arbitrarily small time window.
Given enough time and enough options, everyone would just build more or less the same PC. Having a time limit and limited options creates these situations where they end up picking weird stuff and that creates content for the video.

I used to think PC gaming was a super expensive hobby and I did my research and built the system for around $850 and realized that I now had a better computer than 80% of people on steam. If you're smart you can build a fantastic computer for a fraction of a price you'd expect
Well during the pandemic and like 2020-2023ish it was really expensive to get most GPUs and other PC parts were just over priced and hard to get which screwed the used market also. Now you can literally build an amazing system for like $800-1200 or cheaper if you get used parts. Plus like so many gaming laptops regularly have like $650 discounts so if you don’t have a monitor or need mobility you can get a great gaming laptop for like $500-1000 when the sales are on.
@@rabbidpig3480 though I will have to say that really almost every Hobby is quite expensive if you buy the Equipment needed to seriously pursue it. Would love to see each of them build a PC that they would personally use under a given budget. It sure would give us a look to how they choose the parts, what they choose and why they choose that one.
Plus, certain specific criteria's like - only buying new parts - the budget should be inclusive of taxes - leaving some room in the budget for adjustment, like inflation of price or reduction in price of high grade parts to allow them to be used instead.
I relate to Team Literal Arson a lot lol. I wanted to build a $1000 PC for Christmas a few years back and ended up with a $1400 system. It was totally worth it
Linus's cutting room comments on WAN show about how there were "two videos" in this video and picking the personality driven version were on point. Sincerely, someone who watches GN's long form videos.

0:40 All manufacturers of power banks should be legally obliged to state the battery capacity in watt hours. The specification in milliamp hours says nothing about the actual capacity, as it completely disregards the voltage. For example, Apple was criticized for its measly 1460 mAh power bank, but almost everyone ignored the fact that it has a voltage of 7.62 V instead of the usual 3.7 V. If you convert that, it has 11.1 Wh, which is equivalent to a 3000 mAh capacity for a 3.7V power bank
That has been my pet peeve for a long time. However, it did help me one time. For some student project, we had to move a self made vehicle from Europe to America. The army was so nice to do ship most of the vehicle, but refused the batteries. (i guess paperwork was a hassle for them, the mAh wasn't that high, but the voltage...) However, commercial flights don't care about voltage, so they were shipped with the students. Sure, each battery was the maximum personal budget of "capacity" per passenger, but nobody seemed to notice it was 8x the normal voltage....
@@WIckedOmenOfThunder as far as i know, you can bring two batteries with a maximum of 100Wh each on a plane. That is also why apparently no laptop manufacturer puts more than 100Wh in a laptop.
I agree and the same with phones. That is why I think they do it because a phone will be saying 5000mah and then you see a power bank with 10000mah it will roughly charge your phone twice. Wh just makes more sense but everyone wouldn't need to implement it and that's likely why they haven't. Most people understand the wh aswell because our electricity and gas is delivered in kWh as well as using kw for car power in some countries. It's strange that in most cases we use wh for consumption but ah for capacity unless it's big big batteries then we tend to use wh again. The whole thing is a bit of a mess.
David always delivers. I need a playlist of all videos written by David. Btw, Elijah could have worded the situation a bit better. Never drop the ball hard on your teammate.
I recently specced a $1k build for a friend: Ryzen 5 7600 for $200, Radeon 6750XT for $320, B650 mobo for under $130, 32 GB DDR5-6000 CL30 for $100, WDSN850X 1TB SSD for under $80, a Montech Air 903 case for under $70, and a Corsair RM750e for under $100.
It was also possible to adjust the build such that you could have fitted a 7700XT instead (depending on when you spec'd the build, as prices vary). Like, that 750W PSU seems a bit too much, as a 550W-650W would have been sufficient instead (since the total wattage seems to be under 420W based on the listed specs). Similarly, SN850X seems also a bit to high-end, when SN580 could have worked.
@@Sup_D sn850x and sn580 are way too closely priced to choose the 580. Occasionally you'll catch the 580 on sale while the 850x isn't, but that's rare. If it's a $20-30 different definitely go for the 850x.
@@ghoulbby While that might be true in general, but if you are building a limited budget PC, then you have to cut-cost on other parts, to invest in more better parts. Yeah, the price difference between SN580 & SN850X is like $20, but by adjusting the price on other parts, if you can save upto $40-$50 more, then up can upgrade to 7700XT from 6750XT. Plus, NVMe SSD's are getting cheaper anyway, so investing on a lower budget one now, and later on adding a better one would be more beneficial, as you can easily use your older drive for storage or game drive later on (i mean, there is no way 1TB is going to be sufficient in current situation, you would eventually need more storage).
@@ghoulbby Nah that makes no sense in a budget build. You can get a 580 2TB for $100. That's an extra 1TB for $20 vs the SN850X, and I guarantee you *no one* is noticing the performance difference with casual use and gaming. I would know cause I have a SN850X, SN770, Kingston A2000, and a Patriot P300, and I can't tell *any* difference between them when it comes to gaming or mid size (5-20GB) file transfer.
They are indeed a little bit out of touch :P And what’s even crazier is their *predictions* were also over budget, so they KNEW they weren’t picking the right parts. That’s what’s really confusing about this whole video.
@@coleG112 to be completely fair it's not exactly like they had much time to pick their parts, i doubt either of us would have been able to do much better in that time
its the fact nvidia is way over priced, 3060ti is 50 dollars cheaper then a 7700xt... and the 7700xt has about a 30% performance boost 50 dollars for a 30% better gpu says a lot
NVIDIA definitely shines when it comes to specialized compute loads like RTX and AI workloads, but for the everyday gamer looking for value AMD is really unbeatable. Team Red really comes into its own if you game on Linux and the simplicity of kernel level drivers is awesome.
@@GGG_gamingAnd there're still so many people that went with 4060 over 3060ti on forums. At least 4 of my friend went with a 4060. They justified it with "I don't want last-gen", ~~" 56kB is enough"~~ (Sorry, that's Bill Gates) "8GB is enough" and "But I want DLSS 3.5" All of which I disagree with: 1) 4060 is basically the same chip as 3060, but made cheaper to produce; 2) It's not enough even today, and 3060 had more VRAM; 3) DLSS 3.5 is on 3060, DLFG is the only missing feature and it isn't worth it on a 4060 over massively increased response time and artifacts.
Because raw price/performance in rasterization is better with AMD GPUs period. If you want AI, ray tracing, DLSS, or whatever else you'd go Nvidia. If you purely want FPS out of games AMD is the king.
Instead of 45s to find something, it should have been like five minutes for PC parts, five minutes for peripherals? Or even make it more game show-like, each team has to answer a plethora of tech questions/get closest to the part's real price without ANY research, etc,. and that awards points that correlate to time you get to pick? That would probably be better for two teams. A wide collection of gaming, pop culture, technical, and "nerd" questions would keep it fun imo too and I imagine the cost would be cheaper (one camera operator and two stationary cameras, you get like 10m of content off of just that) Could riff off of classic shows like Family Feud, Jeopardy, Press Your Luck, etc,. too. Make it another series where we get different teams of like three people and a bracket which pushes specific builds ("best micro-atx case build", "best amd build", "single color build", "pre-2000s build", etc.) Plus I feel this could easily use sponsored content like AMD, Intel, whatever. I wonder if the sponsors would even be cool with an AMD vs INTEL final battle between the top two teams? Idk, but the 45s timer seemed too small imo.
@@Abdullx200 I don’t remember who specifically said it but after Doakes was killed they claimed him as the bay harbor butcher and someone said I still can’t believe doakes was the bay harbor butcher
$1000 is a great budget for a solid PC, as long as you have the keyboard/mouse and monitor and such, and from there you can just upgrade piece by piece to not make it such a big expense which makes a gaming PC very manageable on a budget, especially when consoles cost close to a $1000 now and you still need to pay all the extra fees and none of it will carry over to the next one.
I'd second this. My first build was £960 GBP with cheap peripherals. Upgraded bit by bit as my company grew, and it was a slow but steady way to build a great workstation. Did this during the GPU shortage too. Now that's over, the approach is even easier.
Even if you don't have the furniture and peripherals, you can easily find a "good enough" mouse, keyboard and monitor almost for free. Desks and chairs you can literally get for free. Sure, it won't be a low latency wireless mouse with a 10,000 DPI sensor or a mechanical RGB keyboard and a 1440P OLED monitor... But it'll get the job done until you can get something decent after saving for a bit.
I disagree. I think a $1000 PC budget isn't great for most people. If your budget is a strict $1000, your best option is to wait a little while and bring your budget up to $1200-1300. $1000 you can get a pretty good build, but you'll be cutting corners and making little compromises while still not having a great GPU. At $1200, you can cut corners and make little compromises but put in a nice beefy GPU.
@@Tyler-z8r I'd say a $1000 is fine if you shop around for good deals, maybe catch something on a sale. Also depends a bit on where you are, I think in the US that might get you a bit more than it does in the EU, but a $1000 is workable.
That was entertaining and well paced. I'd enjoy more competitions like this. I agree with some of the other comments, the video was introduced as a "test our knowledge" concept, but the time limits prevented them from really using their knowledge.
I've thought about something. You guys have an extreme influence on the gaming/pc building community. And now also a ton of LABS and documented performance of tech. You are in a really powerful position to launch a website, that would give statistics of how strong each part is etc. Unlike other websites, you'll have better data and precision.
They do actually have a website for the labs where they've published a few articles with all the stats. Iirc from a wan show, they're working on setting up processes to test and review much larger sample sizes, so it's only up from here.
This is a really good way of giving proper consumer advice. I think you should elaborate this idea and have a yearly round-up of the highest value products and smart pc-builds.
Great concept and I love it. The only thing I would think will make it better is not to do it on your studio because of parts availability, but it will be better in a store where it will be more comparable to what people may find
In a store they would instantly know the price, so it would just become a different video. But yeah, giving a set budget and allowing them to build PCs in a store would also make for a decent video.
In a store (at least a decently big one) they'd probably have had an easier time. As it stands, often as not the midrange parts they actually wanted were checked out and not available.

@@Ludovianco it’s still definitely an expensive hobby. But yeah you can definitely save money and still build a great pc
@rabbidpig3480 no it's not an expensive hobby. I had hobbies that costed 15k a year. Pc's are alot cheaper
@@rabbidpig3480 though I will have to say that really almost every Hobby is quite expensive if you buy the Equipment needed to seriously pursue it. At least for Sports that is mostly true (if you wanna consider e-sports as such). From the top of my Head the cheapest Hobby i could thing of is something like Crocheting, while the most accessible Sport is probably Football.
I always buy the 70 or 80 series from the last generation used. Good enough performance for 1/3 the price.
Bought a 1080ti in 2019 for $430 and used it for 3 years. Sold for $250 and got a 3070 for $350. Maybe next year I’ll upgrade to a 4070ti for around $400.

Fully agree on the engineering channel. LTT has some talented engineers and machinists, the concept sounds interesting, and who knows, might be educational too.
This was an amazing video, love how well all of their personalities played off one another. Need more videos with more than 1-2 personalities 🙃
One of the best LTT videos in a while. Fantastic concept, fantastically executed, fantastically edited - just A+ all around.
Would love to see each of them build a PC that they would personally use under a given budget. It sure would give us a look to how they choose the parts, what they choose and why they choose that one.
Plus, certain specific criteria's like
- only buying new parts
- the budget should be inclusive of taxes
- leaving some room in the budget for adjustment, like inflation of price or reduction in price of high grade parts to allow them to be used instead.

Sincerely, someone who watches GN's long form videos.
well i think that LTT thrives off some shorter higher view videos that pull in a larger audience
ofc WAN show will be the outlier for long content, but it's a livestream
LTT's whole model is to get new eyes on their backlog of content by making new interesting content that can hit the homepage, sure it is a lil adhd minded but so is 90% of the audience on yt

And also those scummy ones that advertise 10k mAh power but really only have 2400 mAh underneath the plastic.
@@thatprettyparrot or even worse, those with integrated solar cells. Why should I put a lithium-ion battery in direct sunlight?
That has been my pet peeve for a long time. However, it did help me one time.
For some student project, we had to move a self made vehicle from Europe to America. The army was so nice to do ship most of the vehicle, but refused the batteries. (i guess paperwork was a hassle for them, the mAh wasn't that high, but the voltage...)
However, commercial flights don't care about voltage, so they were shipped with the students.
Never drop the ball hard on your teammate.

hi
not thursday yet
I recently specced a $1k build for a friend: Ryzen 5 7600 for $200, Radeon 6750XT for $320, B650 mobo for under $130, 32 GB DDR5-6000 CL30 for $100, WDSN850X 1TB SSD for under $80, a Montech Air 903 case for under $70, and a Corsair RM750e for under $100.
solid choices, you should post the build on pcpartpicker when it’s done
This was such a fun concept. It was great to see that it looked like everyone was having a good time. I had a smile on my face watching this.
so after all that, no one, not a single team got under the $1000 budget.
They are indeed a little bit out of touch :P And what’s even crazier is their *predictions* were also over budget, so they KNEW they weren’t picking the right parts. That’s what’s really confusing about this whole video.
@@coleG112 to be completely fair it's not exactly like they had much time to pick their parts, i doubt either of us would have been able to do much better in that time
4:39 lol EVERYONE went amd gpu, how overpriced or not good value is nvidia no one even tried
its the fact nvidia is way over priced, 3060ti is 50 dollars cheaper then a 7700xt... and the 7700xt has about a 30% performance boost
50 dollars for a 30% better gpu says a lot
NVIDIA definitely shines when it comes to specialized compute loads like RTX and AI workloads, but for the everyday gamer looking for value AMD is really unbeatable. Team Red really comes into its own if you game on Linux and the simplicity of kernel level drivers is awesome.
@@GGG_gamingAnd there're still so many people that went with 4060 over 3060ti on forums.
At least 4 of my friend went with a 4060. They justified it with "I don't want last-gen", ~~" 56kB is enough"~~ (Sorry, that's Bill Gates) "8GB is enough" and "But I want DLSS 3.5"
All of which I disagree with: 1) 4060 is basically the same chip as 3060, but made cheaper to produce; 2) It's not enough even today, and 3060 had more VRAM; 3) DLSS 3.5 is on 3060, DLFG is the only missing feature and it isn't worth it on a 4060 over massively increased response time and artifacts.
@@aebisdecunter i bought my 3060ti for like 200 dollars... 2 years before 40 series... and i knew nvidia is over priced
Because raw price/performance in rasterization is better with AMD GPUs period. If you want AI, ray tracing, DLSS, or whatever else you'd go Nvidia.
If you purely want FPS out of games AMD is the king.
I think was a great episode to showcase how far the newer hosts have come. Nicely done guys.
A wide collection of gaming, pop culture, technical, and "nerd" questions would keep it fun imo too and I imagine the cost would be cheaper (one camera operator and two stationary cameras, you get like 10m of content off of just that)
Could riff off of classic shows like Family Feud, Jeopardy, Press Your Luck, etc,.

I have no idea of the real pronunciation of "Juhor" but I'd either pronounce it like "jew-er" or "you-er".
“Close to a $1000” brother even the PS5 Pro is almost 2/3 the price of that. Most consoles are still half that at $1000. What are you on
That was entertaining and well paced. I'd enjoy more competitions like this.
