This version of the anthem was made specially for the 1976 Olympics in Montreal and it was arranged by Victor Vogel (and I have to agree with many, it's probably the best arrangement ever of O Canada)

Start at the Pacific, end somewhere in the Maritimes or Newfoundland: this is a cool flight across the continent, with recognizable terrain and buildings... I like it, a lot.

@@usaskjock I particularly like how a lot of Quebec features/landmarks are portrayed. Montreal (with the St. Joseph Oratory, the Biosphere and the port clearly visible), the maple forests, Quebec City (Château Frontenac) and Gaspésie (Percé Rock).

That answer my doubts on where was the direction of the shooting of the film! (Pacific coast - Atlantic coast)
Also, I unofficially call this National Anthem Film "A Mare Usque ad Mare" (which is in theme with the general theme of it and also the motto that appears on the Coat of Arms of Canada)

Maybe nostalgia plays a role - I remember repeatedly watching this sign-off in the '90s as a teenager in the family basement, usually having smoked a joint and having watched something good on the CBC. I'm no nationalist. To my mind, though, it's a brilliant animated sequence, and probably the best instrumental rendition of the anthem I've heard. I especially love the dramatic flourishes in the last few bars. The fact that I continue to look it up every so often bears testimony to the quality of this production, I think.

I was just randomly on UA-cam and got a Captain Newfoundland recommendation and was like “what the hell I haven’t seen this in forever” at least 25 to 30 years. The randomly remembered this animated sign off and was telling my wife about it. Was looking and looking for it and then my wife was like let me try and within 2 minutes finds it and was like “ is this it”? and I scream “ YES IT IS “and we sit and watch and just smile. Good memories from when I was a kid in Newfoundland with a big old wooden tv and rabbit ears. Good memories🙂

There is indeed a version of "O Canada" made in 1952 by the celebrated Evelyn Lambart, but the version posted I've posted is accurately credited to Michael Miills Productions and was transferred directly from a 3/4" U-Matic tape of their Demo Reel. There are also landmarks glimpsed in the animation such as the TD Tower in Vancouver (built in 1972), Toronto's CN Tower (1976), and the Montreal Biosphere (1967) all obviously built long after 1952.

Loved CBC television when we lived across the river from Windsor, Ontario and miss Royal Canadian Air Farce (John Morgan) and This Hour Has 22 Minutes (Mary Walsh & Cathy Jones). Always kept the station on just to see this sign-off. Thanks for posting this, now I get to see it whenever I want. Some may disagree with me but O Canada is the greatest national anthem on the planet, Canadians are the most polite and hospitable people on the planet and the nation of Canada has the most spectacular geography on the planet. Coast to coast, it is just beautiful. Think the American rockies are a big deal? Go see Canada's, they got the better deal.

I used to watch every Saturday morning before my cartoons aired. After this there was a clip of people who would paint Canada on a giant canvas. There was easy going music, not the Anthem, and then the narrator would talk about the channel, CBC in English and Radio-Canada in French.
I found the clip, but I don't know the official name/title of it.
Find it one the right; 'Artist Peter Flinsch in CBC / Radio-Canada.

Perhaps a trip to North Korea is in order to wake you up. As an independent country you would suffer economically, have a weak currency, just to name a few. the lyrics are :
    O JJ Anthem:
    O J.J.'s UA-cam channel
    I really think you're fine!
    When Sun News closed
    I made you
to fill up my free time.
I (ughh) make videos on Canada
    and people click like hell.
    I sometimes try to
    mix things up
but those don't do as well.
    Quebeckers all hate me.
I'm not super into them too.
    O J.J.'s UA-cam channel!
I wish you had more views.

Not that I'm aware of. Most channels operate 24x7 and thus do not allow usage of national anthem films, unfortunately.

I just saw this on TV a few nights ago. I didn't check which channel, but it was definitely used before that channel signed off. I was in the kitchen and heard it playing on TV in the living room so I went over to watch it. Thought I'd try to look it up on UA-cam, too. I've seen it at least a couple times recently. Next time I'll make note of which channel it was if I see it again.
