    Just a short video to give you a closer look at the cleaning of a Cummins DPF. Here you can see the contaminants (Soot and Ash) being pushed out.
    It's also worth noting that all water exiting the drain in this video is ran through a trap to contain Pollutants/Hydrocarbons.

    You know watching all these videos on the DPF filters almost reminds me of plenty of big scale models of filtration and particulate reduction system that for most people they don’t even know about. 1 for example is a RTO usually in place at most of your big manufacturing plants, power boilers at your coal power plants, paper mills. I pretty much cleaned them all, but the RTO system or at least 1 of them I helped out on had the ceramic media in it, and it got cleaned with a pressure washer.

    I’m a industrial cleaning technician (former) but I still remember everything about it. I knew these filters could be cleaned with water a LONG time ago.

      Would you say it's worth doing this over pulling one out and having it professionally done? I'm asking as an owner-operator and the owner of a 2019 Freightliner Cascadia

    This doesn't work for channel type DPFs that have glue holding different pieces of it together. It also depends on how the filter substrate is designed/what it's made of etc. Have to be careful

    Works very well be sure you check the surface of the filter for hairline cracks before cleaning. If there are any throw filter away immediately and get a new one. If you attempt to clean it the filter can and most likely will shatter.

    I seen the tech at the VOLVO dealer pressure washing the DPF filter . said they only replace if the filter is damaged. Don't forget new gaskets and clamps if yours can be re used. I did a passive regen and no more check engine

    • @Jagshemasher
      @Jagshemasher 3 роки тому +1

      It really depends on exactly what the ash contains but usually acid works best (baking soda is an alkali). Soot has a lot of contain carbon and hydrogen (organic) that contain other elements like sulphur, calcium, zinc, magnesium etc. When the DPF regenerates, the carbon and hydrogen get burned off and the residue (or ash) that is left (and accumulates within the DPF) is made up of inorganic elements/salts of inorganic elements. A reasonable percentage of this material will actually dissolve in water (or be washed off the surface of the DPF if it is not to stuck to the surface) Usually these materials are removed (dissolve) better in something like hydrochloric acid so if the DPF were to be washed as above and then soaked in a hydrochloric acid solution and after wards rinsed then the results may be even better . . . .but how much better I don't know . . . it would required quite a bit of test equipment to figure that out.

  • @russkaine

    You can step into a shower and rinse off and think you’re clean but this isn’t it. It needs a proper air knife blow out, then wash station pressure rinse, ultra sonic tank clean for 20 mins, then a proper 9 hour bake at 1200 degrees. Not to mention a pre and post flow test. This is great for a temporary fix. Not the long haul tho.

      You are wrong! This is just leftover ash from the dpf burn process. The DPF stores diesel partials and then burns them to form co2 when driving. Why do people have opinions on things they don't understand???

    We can’t do a parked regen on a 08 6.7 Dodge Cummins. We need a affordable solution for use blue collar works who are rich. The earl model truck don’t have a way to regenerate. The dealer are changing hundreds to clean these. This is looking better than anything else to me.

  • @knight-pg8gk

    I just cut out my DPF and re-mapped my car only cost me £80 all in and the plus side of it is I will never have to worry about doing a regeneration.
    And as for the M.O.T test it won't be a problem as I will be the one testing my car and won't do an emissions test. I will use someone else's car for the emissions lol
