Im a midway/nrs player and I have been my entire life. I’ve decided to get into tekken because of how good the new game looks and how unfinished mk1 feels and it’s definitely a big learning curve. Thanks for the helpful video :)
Same reason im here mk1 just feel broken/unbalanced and gimmicky. Wish i didnt give em my money. I know ill have a hard time with this game but it looks like each character will have a move to deal with something unlike mk
@@senormarston coming back to this comment and what I said is amplified times 10. I was thinking maybe im just not that much of a gamer anymore once mk1 came out but I already have over 100 hours in tekken 8 I’ve been nonstop on it. Truly is a special game and I hope nrs can manage to fix my first fighting game love but until then.. tekken 8 is taking care of me just fine
Hey bro - I’m a returning player, been playing tekken super super casually since I was very little but wanted to get a bit more competitive on launch of tekken 8. This video is so good - your explanations are so clear and I walked away with so much basics I never knew I needed! I’ll be looking out for more videos and will keep circling back to this one!
I'm playing as a newbie, and happy with mostly losing but starting to win more and more, but man I just can't get the juggling right. While my opponent juggles half my hp from a single launch...
I spent a lot of years watching fighting games and wanting to get good and play them but never taking the time to learn them bc I thought I didn’t have the right tools or skills but this generation I’m gonna give it maximum effort I bought sf6 mk1 when they were new and most recently tekken 8 and I’ve been having a lot of fun. This video was probably one of if not the best I’ve seen for new players and explaining all the different mechanics that tekken has.
Thanks for the guide! Been a casual tekken player since 2 and didn't properly get into the online competitive play until 7. I'm seeing complete newcomers reaching ranks I've never got to so looks like I'm going back to basics
This is an amazing time for fighting game fans. I remember not too long ago people were talking about fighters as if they are disappearing that most gamers of today don't find them interesting anymore... But I'm so happy that wasn't true at all ✌
2:03 you say you should almost always hold back so you can retaliate more quickly - do you get blockstunned for longer when you’re “holding neutral” to block rather than back?
Thats a great tutorial maybe you could talk more about the control setup. Many new players dont know how to turn off special style and mapping the inputs is very important too.
I played a little bit of Tekken 2 and 3 back in the days, but haven't really played since, so consider myself new. I've been trying to get into it the last few days and the thing I find the hardest is understanding the timing of combo inputs. How long should I hold the arrow keys, how fast should I press, can I spam, should I wait until a certain point in the animations, etc.
Thanks for the vid. I'm a new guy at Tekken (mainly played street fighter) and I never understood why people saying DF+1,2 as well as some other stuff. Thanks to your video, i can understand those words

Hello! I played tekken 2 and 3 as a kid and loved it, but haven't played at all since then. When Kazuya came out on smash bros i fell back in love with the characters and am now hyped for tekken 8. But I have ZERO experience in these types of games and approaching it has been very intimidating. Early in your video your little message of "It's okay, don't rush it" helped me a lot more than you would think to not feel anxious about this stuff, since on other games I am very competitive and I hate losing. Just wanted to say thanks for that. :)
It is true that a lot of characters use not too many moves, especially if you go for a simpler playstyle, but I still scoffed here a bit. Because I think that with Lee, I use pretty much every move except the useless, vestigial uf2. Not all with the same frequency and in the same situation of course, but still.
I feel like it's definitely bitrate, most videos of Tekken 8 on UA-cam look fine. Hopefully he can up the bitrate some more, because for me it does take away from the video even though it is a great video overall. 😢
I'm gon to buy Tekken 8 but I don't know if I'll end up liking it a lot because of that Wavedash thing I find it hard to do maybe I just need to practice but still moving a lot the lever like that may not be something that I want. The game looking solid and I like that you can customize your character.

Very nice recap for beginners or people that want to start the game. About the throw breaks you don't have to press 1 for the 1+3 and 2 for the 2+4, both 1 or 2 are working. 😉 However as you said it's 1+2 most of the time for the other 1+2 throws. Just a little question : as T8 is not released yet and as a training mode is not available in the current T8 demo, what is the T8 build you are playing on ? Have you really played the 2 betas yourself or are you just referencing rumors ? 🤔 I played the 2 sessions of the CNT and the session of the CBT and personnaly I had a pretty good experience on the T8 online. A way better than any T7 sessions with many QOL improvments. The CBT was a little bit less stable especially against wifi players but I assume this is because we were a lot more people on the servers and that the devs proceed to some kind if stress tests during this beta (are betas not the purpose for that ? 🤔) I played on PS5 with a HTTF connection (ethernet) and that worked pretty fine but sure that everyone don't have such kind of connection. It was maybe not as great as SF6 but it's clear that Namco is aware that good netcode like SF6 is some kind of standard they have to achieve for T8. 😉
