Tarot has always been like pulling teeth for me, laborious and frustrating to need the corresponding book each and every time I do a spread because I just can't retain the meanings of the tarot cards beyond the major Arcanas. BUT, when I discovered the Lenormand completely by chance, I fell in love immediately. I think this is from my love for the Russian Gypsy Fortune Telling cards, which are very similar. And also why I love the GT because it's like the twisty-turny fun of the RGFT cards.
My rabbit chewed on my Light Visions tarot box the same day I go it! I used gold leaf to hide the chew marks. I would have been so sad if he got to one of my cards.
Kelly, I went ahead and shared a link to your Lenormand playlist with a nice tarot group I'm on, Tarot and Oracle Chat and Readings, as a couple of people there are interested, currently, in Lenormand. Your little stash of videos is such a nice resource! Thank you!
I am so happy to see you doing this series! I appreciate the history you shared at the beginning of the video too. I have a new Lenormand/Game of Hope deck on the way & I am so excited to see new ways to work with it! Thank you very much!
I have a few Lenormand decks but none seem just right. Wrong size, or not quite right illustrations (I like original, old style art), or lack of card inserts etc. Just ordered the Piatnik deck thanks to you. I think this might be the one for me. Also going to bite the bullet with the Grand Tableau. Thanks, great video!
Lison Lacharite :D I am glad you are going to watch, it's worth working with and giving it a chance to "click". I have to say the first time I used Lenormand I thought "meh, not for me" but once it clicked I just fell in love with it! ~Kelly
I am looking forward to this series. I've never done a GT before. I've done some three and five card lines and one time I've dabbled with a nine card spread. :) So I am very excited to start practicing again
***** I feel like this is one of those topics that there are so many more knowledgeable people to be making videos, and I will definitely be talking about the resources I found helpful in the next video, but then I figured why not, having different approaches out there never hurts :)
I was under the impression that Lenormand was a very straightforward set out system but I can see there are many variations of reading... Great explanation of how to lay out the cards and use smaller parts of the GT... I am going to order the Caitlin Matthews book, thanks for the recommendation Kelly! Look forward to the rest of this series... thanks again for your inspiration and time :)
***** I do have the Gilded Reverie! I think it is a gorgeous deck, my only qualms with it is its size when you are trying to lay out a Grand Tableau, you definitely need a big space, so I tend to use it for smaller things :) ~Kelly
Awesome, so happy to sub to your channel, I just received my first deck the Gilded Reverie Lenormand deck.... if you could I would love a video on this deck maybe explaining the cards or what ever you feel fit for info... many blessings!
I'm feeling the tug of Lenormand...have just checked out your video on the Celtic deck (and have ordered it) and now I'm looking forward to getting stuck into this series... :)
***** I am so excited that you received your first Lenormand deck and such a gorgeous one at that! If you go to the Lenormand Playlist Pt 3 goes over each of the Lenormand cards, that might be helpful! I am working on a basic spread one also that should be up today or tomorrow! ~Kelly
8:08 This technique is bad, we cannot, in a Grand Tableau [9x4 ], remove this first column of 4 cards, to position it ,in the last row in a Grand Tableau that has become [8x4 + 4] I have proof of it, because this first column, perfectly had explaining THE PAST , in my Grand Tableau, and if it is deleted, my Grand Tableau doesn't mean anything anymore
Another one of my favorites that you may enjoy is the Lenormand Ellaheh. The artwork is very rich and beautiful. Although, you may dislike the Snake card in this deck as well. ua-cam.com/video/jeF4Yq315k0/v-deo.html
Thank you! I like the idea of starting with the grand tableau. What is the name of the deck with the Astro signs? Are you going to explain how you combine Astro with the cards?
I have a question about the Bluebird Lenormand deck I recently purchased, do you know why there is 2 gentleman and 2 ladies in this deck and while doing the spread that is in the mini book that came with the deck, would I take out 1 gentleman, and 1lady card? I’m new to Lenormand and this is my first deck. Thanks kelly 😊
Canine Lover Yes :) traditional decks came with one man and woman but modern decks often have an extra set to choose from or to use for same sex relationships :)
The Truth in Story phew! Thanks I’m confused enough as this is my 1st Lenormand deck, besides my Gypsy Witch deck which only has 1 man1 lady card. Thanks so much for your speedy response and looking forward to watching all your Lenormand videos 🤗
I guess this a little bit of a dumb question/ comment, but I'm curious why the GT wasn't set up in a 6x6 format? Is there a historical reasoning for these two formats?
Not a dumb question at all, the oldest text that we have on Lenormand with the instructions from the Das Spiel Der Hoffnung put out in 1799 there are instructions on laying the cards out for an "entertaining game of oracles" by laying them out "5 rows with 4 rows at 8 cards and the fifth row with the remaining 4 cards"--So where that came from prior to that date we probably don't know. I prefer the 9x4 just because of the solid rectangle and it fits for video taping my readings, it all works :)
@@TheTruthinStory Hi Kelly. I was aware of the game instructions, but I keep thinking that 6x6 is such an obvious format. I can't find any documentation on the reasoning for the other formats. I guess the reasoning is lost to posterity. I kind of want to lay the cards 6x6 but that almost seems like sacrilege.
I know I'm gonna love this series :) Already love this very first video. I'll definitely try your approach with laying out the Grand Tableau and look at little sections for learning reasons, cause the other way around is kinda losing its fun for me without even resulting in a good learning curve.
Ok. Just did a Grand Tableau. Wow. I'm really surprised myself, but for the first time I was able to quiet my "tarot brain". Probably because otherwise I would have been extremely overwhelmed by the amount of information (I briefly looked at the center cards, the cards around the significator and "me" and did a very small amount of knighting, looking at diagonals and just two houses - and I forced myself to go quick this time). Now there's A LOT to learn but for the first time I know which direction to go with it. So glad you shared this approach! Works so much better for me!
Cuilfaen I am so happy that you were able to make some progress on it. I can definitely understand why they teach Lenormand the way that they do, so that people don't get overwhelmed, but everyone learns differently!
***** Yeah, funny that exactly that "overextension" seemed to be what I needed to let go of trying to delve into the cards too much. So happy right now :)
***** Lol! True :D I´ve even been so happy that I finally made myself my own spread cloth today. I saw an instruction for it a while ago on "Donnaleigh´s Tarot" (www.donnaleigh.com), but since one side of it is for laying out the Grand Tableau, there was no use for me to make one as long as I struggled so badly with Lenormand, so I procrastinated. What a beautiful sunday :)
+Joseph P It's the Game of Hope by For the Seeker's but it's not in print right now, it's being re-released with some changes but I'm not sure when it's coming out, here is the link to watch for it: www.fortheseekers.com/oracle-cards.html

Who else is dying to see these coffee grounds cards!!

I like the Blue Owl as a traditional deck. The Man and Woman can face each other.
Great explanation! Here in Germany they are really common jiust like th gypsy cards too. Thanks a lot! Learned a few new things. Have a great one!

Danu's Dragonfly Ohh, I am excited for a new deck for you, which one is on its way??
It's the Fairy Lenormand Oracle by Marcus Katz ~ it just released May 31st :)
Danu's Dragonfly Ohh, I can't wait to hear what you think about it! ~Kelly
***** I just posted a video sharing the deck & a link to this video too!

And BTW, your pronunciation of lenormand in french is good.
Lison Lacharite LOL :D well, I will trust you on that one Lison, I can only say yours correctly because you explained it so well!
Looking forward to this series. Thanks for taking it on.
Brenda M. My pleasure :) I love Lenormand and am happy to do it as I always end up learning from these things too! ~Kelly

Lori Edwards I'm actually looking forward to it too, Lori :) I always learn a lot when I have to sit down and think through my processes!

Figured I might as well get started . . .
+Jamie Morris :D :D :D
Thanks Kelly. I am just starting with Lenormand and have tons of questions. Thanks for this class.
lol sorry about that, I see now you do have the Gilded Reverie!
Thank you so much for this Kelly! I’ve finally found an easy way to learn lenormand with you so excited to get started! Thank you 🙏🏽💓
I would love to see you do a review of the Aboriginal Lenormand by RKDuffyArt. It is a lovely deck.
I haven't heard of that one.... off to google it...

do the numbers on the card mean anything?
That is the order of the cards when playing the original game :)
