    Thank you Darryl. Always enjoy your videos. I'd love to have a Pipistrel but am getting a little far along in life to take on another challenge. Down to the point, is my vision gonna hold out to keep driving. Sigh!

    have you already made a video going more into detail about your mapping business? i.e. what kind of jobs you do most often / bring in most of the money, how the market has been developing since you started your business, where you see yourself in the future. i think that would be super interesting!

    Did you have formal training on mapping? I’m a low time pilot and would like to get into mapping Business for myself.

    Hey Darryl, glad to see your oil pressure is better. I've seen mine get a bit worse over time with altitude but I only get down to mid-30s at 14.5K feet. Your KTAS seems pretty low for DA of 10K feet at 98% throttle. I'm usually pulling 135 KTAS at that throttle setting in my tri-gear Virus SW. I get pretty much the same result all the way to 14.5K just with a lower fuel burn. Is that pretty typical for your plane?

    • @DarrylZubot
      @DarrylZubot  5 років тому +1

      I get about 125ktas at 14,500. My plane is heavy, ballistic chute, extra alternator on engine for survey gear, three floor holes re-enforced added decent weight to airframe, lots of avionics, hydraulic prop

    • @DarrylZubot

      Al Youngwerth the larger oil lines really improved my pressure. With stock oil lines i was getting about 14psi at 15,000’

      I still think something is wrong, maybe the problem has been masked a bit?. I have a photo here over Ram Falls at 12,000 with an oil temp of 205F/96C and oil pressure sitting at 58psi. 912ULS 1400hrs. Seems the higher I go the better the pressure because of the lower oil temp in the cool air. I have to watch the temp/pressure more closely at low level on hot days.

    As always, awesome video! Does your autopilot connect to your surveying equipment or is it all hand flown?

    • @DarrylZubot
      @DarrylZubot  5 років тому

      Not exactly, I do fly my missions with autopilot by creating a GPX file from the survey flight data, the survey equipment isn't driving the autopilot, dynon skyview is

    It sure is a pretty place from that high up. Jealous of the view on this flight
    I'm sure everyone here can relate to filling their car up with 60 or 80 L of gasoline; that fuel burn really is something else

    Pipistrel sure seems to win on efficiency. And looking forward to electric flight, in 5 or 6 years, when the battery weights come down, they're going to make out like bandits!

    ive seen in a some other of your videos that you’ve had some trouble with your aircraft. Would you still recommend the pipistrel in spite of the issues?

    • @DarrylZubot
      @DarrylZubot  5 років тому +2

      Yes, still my favourite aircraft design. Large windows, no wing struts, amazing fuel efficiency and speed. Just wish it had turbo.

      I have the same plane, fewer problems than Darryle but still it can still be a PITA plane at times (so is my 182). But there is no other plane that is so fun to fly, has such great visibility and has the incredible speed and efficiency of the Virus SW.

    This is epic! I was looking at motorgliders like the Virus and they seem like a perfect aircraft. I'm also near you and would love a job aerial surveying. When I go flying I can see the edge of the rockies but I have never been that close. Any advice on how to get a job doing that? I'm doing my PPL still

      Hey, I created my own company and built clientele from scratch. It takes hard work, persistence and also some skill level to be able to do this work, its definitely not plug and play work, very customized systems that require lots of setup time, testing for accuracy. If you want to do it you just do it!

    • @DarrylZubot
      @DarrylZubot  5 років тому

      fuzzel mounted nadir in the cargo bay. Have three floor ports in this aircraft, two in cargo bay and one under passenger seat. No wing struts on this aircraft so mounting it there is impossible.

    I have the opportunity to get training on a pipistrel sinus. or pay a lot more and get a private pilot cert on a 172. I would like to go cross country. Do you have any recommendation?

    • @Virtualmix
      @Virtualmix 3 роки тому

      Train on the cheapest airplane and fly the more expensive airplane once you have your PPL. The main differences between C172 and the Sinus are the engines and number of seats. Otherwise they're both airplanes with similar cruise speed and handling.

    • @DarrylZubot

      The problem is the rate of this melting. The last ice age melted over thousands of years. Ours is happening within our lifetime.

    • @lifeingeneral9111

      @@DarrylZubot not true, it's just the mind control you're being fed so listen up. the ice ages are over 25,000 year cycles, 25k to form 25k to melt; the ice over Pennsylvania was 13,000 feet deep so of course it too a long time to melt. the ice age, that has been BS'ed as well. yes there is an ice age but the still it's summer and winter but it just a tiny bit out of sync causing lots of snow but not quite long enough to melt it all by winter; which is how the glaciers are formed. another lie, ships going to Alaska filming the glaciers falling into the ocean and calling it warming when in fact they are frozen rivers of sort that have always moved toward down stream but through the miracle of dumbing down people, voila' human sheep! so what you are seeing is the tail end of the melting. if it takes 30 minutes for an ice cube to melt it doesn't take the last 1/8 of an inch of the cube 30 minutes to melt as well. our sun is on a 10,000 year cycle and the deserts of Africa are now shrinking toward the north, in the 70's they were growing toward the south. got all this info from three Canadians in 1979 with satellite imagery to back it all up but these days all that seems to have conveniently been left out of the equation. there are many evil agendas walking the earth disguised as good forces. case in point, why no dialogue on the ozone hole.... nothing. are we to believe that buy stopping pop cans we instantly saved the world. it's hard to think on your own after hundreds of years of propaganda; it's the reason it's so widely used.... it works! it's generally the smart, book smart, that are the most easily influenced by the the dogma. why do you think they stopped using the phrase "global warming" and segued into climate change, because they were exposed by facts and had to change the mantra. another fallacy, the republicans are the rich bastards on earth when in fact the richest people on earth are in fact democrats... look it up. ever wonder how the media, on every liberal channel, all say the same thing every night word for ward but yet all owned buy different people. ever wonder why google earth , a liberal group, air brushes the ice out of north Canadian waters every time they take new photos up there??????? ever wonder why Brexit has taken for ever to implement what the people of England voted on and only took seconds to start.
      on a better note. in the states we can't use any type of experimental aircraft for hire, why so up there?
