LOVE Elie Mystal! You should have him on every week! He is the fire we need to get this country back in focus for our rights! Thank you for this video!
Happy to see Elie Mystal on your show, he's a great communicator. A sound legal mind in an unsound and irrational world. My hats off to you Elie my good sir. One issue missing from your historic framing of moral and legal underpinnings of the U.S. Constitution. Let me recommend Thomas Paine as a framer long forgotten and neglected. The Rights of Man, The Age of Reason, and a half dozen other publications are possibly the defined and archetype of secular humanism which Paine made sound philosophical postulates.
This was great Ellie never Disappoints. His institutional Knowledge and his animated illustration is always awesome. I can tell that there was more that you guys didn’t get to.✨
Mr. Mystal may well be the most forthright person I have ever seen on television. Granted, I stopped watching t.v. A few years back, but I'm sure it hasn't gotten any better in that time. Dude's just a great trustworthy communicator. 🕊💖🖖
Don’t forget, when I started teaching in the 1970s we had to include our religion on job applications! I would put Unitarian on mine. I even got fired once for that. I was hired by the assistant principal and instantly fired when the principal got back from vacation. It was a private Christian school for Native Americans. He said Unitarian isn’t Christian. In a public school I was gently edged out because I wasn’t Mormon. I’m not sure it’s any better today in rural Arizona where it happened. Let’s hold on to our progress.
The issue is, they did establish religion, when they selected what a religion is and made tax exemption laws for that. If it is simply policy, then it should be easy to challenge. Its not Free Exercise, if we have to pay for it. I'd love to see a deep dive on the government contracts for resettlement. What I have seen, is it has become a preferential labor provider.
The 1797 Treaty of Tripoli stated that the United States is not a Christian nation. It was initiated by George Washington, ratified unanimously by the Senate, and signed by John Adams.
10:50 South Africa should be considered to have *come into existence* in 1994 when Nelson Mandela became the *FIRST-EVER PRESIDENT!* DeKlerk and Botha should be considered *ILLEGITIMATE* in the role of President and prior to 1994, the southern portion of the African continent should be referred to merely as the *Cape Colonies!*
The reason they ask the question regarding religion goes in part to dietary restrictions (does your religion allow you to eat pork or cheese with meat are your vegans), does the patient have any food allergies, and which in-house religious representative, if any, should be on hand for you and your family if the patient expires.
I totally have to agree: If the Dr's hands are shaky, what else matters really? If despite the fact he is your go to for brain surgery? If so, then your sanity is in question, not his!
Elie Mystal: "On a good day I'm a lapsed Catholic. On a bad day I'm leaning towards atheism." There appears to be six possibilities as to who Jesus was/is: 1. Myth: He never existed. 2. Legend: He existed, but stories about a first-century man became embellished with retellings over the years, turning him into the God-man of the New Testament. 3. Prophet: A prophet of God who performed miracles, but was not God's son. 4. Liar: A first-century man who was sane, but lied to others about being God’s son. 5. Lunatic: A first-century man who was deluded/insane; he really thought he was God's son. 6. The Lord: A first-century man but also God incarnate (1 Timothy 3:16) In the 2005 book “Bono: In Conversation with Michka Assayas,” Bono, U2’s frontman, commented: “So what you’re left with is: either Christ was who He said He was, the Messiah, or a complete nutcase. I mean, we’re talking nutcase on the level of Charles Manson. This man was like some of the people we’ve been talking about earlier. This man was strapping himself to a bomb, and had ‘King of the Jews’ on his head, and, as they were putting him up on the Cross, was going: ‘OK, martyrdom, here we go. Bring on the pain! I can take it.' I’m not joking here. The idea that the entire course of civilization for over half of the globe could have its fate changed and turned upside-down by a nutcase, for me, that’s farfetched.”
@@neilforbes416 This is an excerpt from Wikipedia: The term "historical Jesus" refers to the life and teachings of Jesus as interpreted through critical historical methods, in contrast to what are traditionally religious interpretations.[1][2] It also considers the historical and cultural contexts in which Jesus lived.[3][4][5][6] Virtually all scholars of antiquity accept that Jesus was a historical figure, and the idea that Jesus was a mythical figure has been consistently rejected by the scholarly consensus as a fringe theory.[7][8][9][10][11] Scholars differ about the beliefs and teachings of Jesus as well as the accuracy of the biblical accounts, with only two events being supported by nearly universal scholarly consensus: Jesus was baptized and Jesus was crucified.[12][13][14][15]

What are the correlations between "origilism" and "conservatism?"
Me too

I think Eli should be Kamala’s communication chief‼️💙🇺🇸💯🆘Please listen to me. Semper Fi!Vote blue no matter who!
Get rid of the second amendment for our lives.
Agree about the constitution. People use it as an excuse. Kkk ❓Why is this allowed now? No excuse.
This convo is why I never watch this channel. Elie is saying all kinds of amazing and funny things and they are sitting stone faced.
How can a person be a practicing non-beliver AND a practicing politician simultaneously?
You are way too smart for this Marine but I appreciate you more than you will ever know.
Jesus should be taught about as a *FICTIONAL* character, just like Harry Potter!
Jesus is NOT a fictional character.
@@anthonycardella8747 *Indeed he is!* Jesus(correctly pronounced "Hezoos") is a conjured-up character in a book of *TOTAL FICTION!*
