    • @sashastarlight
      @sashastarlight  5 місяців тому

  • @kathleenstokes5865
    @kathleenstokes5865 Рік тому +5

    I really like these pants, but I would rather not have the tie at the back. I'm thinking it wouldn't be too hard to just put in a longer piece of elastic like the way you did the pair you are wearing. The jacket looks lovely too... will probably have to do both.

    • @sashastarlight
      @sashastarlight  Рік тому +2

      Hi Kathleen, yes you could certainly use elastic like I did on the first pair - the pattern is the same just without the buttonholes. I’d say the only issue would be if you’re hip to waist ratio is quite differing - so if you have a very small waist in comparison to hip measurement. But using a very soft & stretchy elastic would help a lot with this, or even traditional style shirring (3rd method in my shirring video)

      sorry for the late reply - for pattern help it's always best to get hold of me on Etsy for a quick response! How do you feel about a double folded hem instead of the serged and single folded hem? I want to make these pants as durable as possible, but the serged and single folded seem easier. Any particular reasons for the way you did it? (weight, ease, durability is similar? idk, etc) Thank you!

      @sashastarlight  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi Joan - sorry for the slow response, I've had my head down getting my new pattern out the last few weeks!
      You can certainly double fold the hem if you'd rather - a serged & single folded hem is just as durable but some people prefer the look of a double fold. I went with that option as it's quicker & hidden inside the garment at the bottom 👍 ✨

    Does anyone know if this would be an okay pattern for someone who's never sewn clothes before? I've made quilts, pillowcases, even bow ties, but I've never done clothes before and I really love the look of these pants. Also, would they work okay with linen? I've heard that linen gathers really well but I've never personally worked with it.

    • @sashastarlight
      @sashastarlight  Рік тому +1

      I'd say it would be a challenge but also if you take your time, small steps and are patient with your progress I'd never say never!

    would crepe fabric be ok for this pattern?

    • @raraavis7782
      @raraavis7782 Рік тому

      You need fabric that drapes and gathers well, otherwise the back of the pants will look very bulky and odd. In that regard, crepe should be suitable. Make sure, the fabric is actually suitable for machine washing and regular wear, though. Crepe is mostly used in evening wear and often not exactly sturdy.

    • @sashastarlight
      @sashastarlight  Рік тому

      Yes, crepe would work - synthetic crepe is generally suitable for machine washing on a delicate cycle, but silk could be used and the finished piece hand washed or dry cleaned 🥰 ✨

    would you recommend this project to someone who's just starting out in sewing? 🥹

      I'd say it would be a challenge but also if you take your time, small steps and are patient with your progress I'd never say never!
      The waistband is the most challenging part - perhaps skip to that part of the tutorial & see how you feel about the processes 🥰 ✨
