Gemma will be playing the superhero Sersi in Eternals 2021 and Marvel Studios Head Kevin Feige confirmed they have big plans for her character in future movies and I couldnt be more proud. Been obssessing with Gemma since Humans. She deserves that Marvel Big spotlight. Her accent and her style is the true definition of elegant and expensive.
I'm fascinated how Gemma Chan speaks English. Clear and polished. She would be a perfect narrator for films like "Blue Planet" or National Geographics. I can listen to her all day talk about science.

This is by far my fave accent. Wish I could stick to it as a learner. The more i dig into the accent area the more I get lost cause GOSH there are so many features to remember while speaking
Yes it can get quite complicated, but it's still really valuable to learn the different pronunciation features of each accent because it'll help you understand other people's accents better.

Hello Tom :) Thanks for the video. As an English lover, I really love your accent videos ;) Well, I definitely like Gemma Chan's accent. It is the one I try to speak with, modern received pronunciation. I don't usually drop the 't' sound, but I have the other features of the accent. For example, schwa sound, the way of pronouncing '''TH'' 'H' etc. I am looking forward to watching the next video :) Have a nice week mate :)

When i think about british accent, this is what reminds me of. Maybe i was just used to listen to this kind of accent. I'm glad that now english has evolved in a more informal language even the RP english. The sad part is that english teachers from other countries rarely can imitate any of the accents that you showed off in your channel

One of the accents that fascinates me is Charlie Hunnam's, because he was born in England, but he moved to the US for his acting career. When he did King Arthur he had to take British English Pronunciation classes because he had changed his accent so much. I remember how mixed his accent was in interviews when he was promoting SOA (pronouncing garage US /gəˈrɑʒ/) and now he's got a stronger British accent (but I'd say much more RP than Geordie)... For me this just goes to show that even native speakers accent aren't the same during their lifetime ❤️❤️❤️.
Great shout Cristina! His accent has always baffled me ever since I saw him in Green Street (one of the worst Cockney accents of all-time). I certainly add him to the list : )

In Hongkong, the pre-requisite of speaking proper English (or losing the Cantonese accent) is pronouncing the /th/ sound properly like RP instead of smearing it into an 'f' sound.
Northern England's 'a' (/ae/) is also used more often in US English.

Hi, can I ask you a favor? I am teaching kids English right now, there are some words which are very confusing. My colleague told me my pronunciation was wrong. for example, pizza panda pasta such words end with a, I pronounce them more like a short a sound. My colleague said it's /pændə/, the last sound should be /ə/. But I looked up to the dictionary, it did sound like a short a sound not a clear /ə/sound. I think it’s between those two sounds.
