As an intelligent and technically astute instructor please explain to me why most bjj schools have forsaken striking completely and forsaken stand up grappling (in depth takedown chains and takedown defense as in freestyle wrestling/ judo.) Most of the bjj sparring I see starts from the knees and bypass the standing aspect of grappling. If this system is to evolve it needs to stray away from the sport aspect and focus more on realism. Otherwise it is exactly as your name suggests a movement of narrow minded fanatics.
Agree! I think the main reason is too many people in the room to start standing and/or more risks of injury. But i think most high level gyms with the aim of competing will do stand up
I think it boils down to marketing as well, A lot of weekend warriors and dads. Just want to get a couple rolls in and head home... But totally agree, it's a little bit detrimental in the big picture!
danahur craps on so much, just show the move. we call this the "snow plow" in my gym, go to north south position hook both elbows then take the one your oponent gives you, this video only needed to be aslong as it took you to read that.
Danaher is notoriously methodical. Some people find that irritating, but in my opinion, the highest people in the game love him, since they're patient and eager to learn exactly how to execute a move. GSP, for example, has said he thinks Danaher is one of the smartest people he's ever met. Instead of trying to critique Danaher, maybe question yourself about whether you're truly interested in learning jiu-jitsu. That's what I would suggest.
You make a video then...don't hate on how he teaches if you're coming here to learn. Be lucky you get information delivered to you this easily, entitled lad
Yori Nakamura and john Danaher are the most thorough instructors I’ve ever witnessed.
Why would you ignore 50% of the arms??
haha
love it. its all about the options.
This only works against opponents with two arms.
Excellent.
A 4min danaher video...... I'm in
