This is our second year with blackberries ,and they are producing well. Just have to make sure I keep them watered well.

You should of checked them eggs whilst you had the chance, then you would no if there any good or not.

Scott is one handsome fella. I wish one day we can have a peacock or two on our farm. Maybe they can compete with the geese for who’s louder 😆 during nesting season. I’m still building a custom goose house but it’s been raining a lot. Nice visit and good day to all the Cog Squad. Cheers, Chad.
I've always liked peacocks, but I never knew they were that loud and noisy. Omg.
Hearing Scott, brought up memories from long ago (and I'm not saying how long!). My Grandma & Grandpa had a hog farm (they weren't nice like Peaches), but also had a cow, a bunch of chickens, a few ducks, a couple of goats and last but not least a number of peacocks (a lot of males and they were kind of mean). As kids we would run around collecting all of the tail feathers the males dropped. She would pay us a little based on the number we collected. (Now that I'm older I realize we were cheap labour!) I think she sold them to flower shops to add to their arrangements, also to whatever shops carried fishing gear at the time for tying fishing flies, to hat shops (ladies wore hats then - oops I'm giving away how long ago this was 🤫), and other places. The broken feathers or the ones that didn't pass her muster, we were allowed to keep.
Mom kept an old milk can full of feathers by the door at our house and would give them to anyone who asked for some.
The peacocks were my Grandma's alarm system. We could never hide from her either, they would always tell on us and let her know where we were.

I asked this question in a regular comment but how many of the eggs will will hatch? Is it just up to nature? I washed the video and they said they normally only have about three so what do you think? Will they all hatch I am ignorant of peacocks

I love that Mildred is now letting y’all pet her. Strange that just putting a rocking chair in there for just a few hours changed her mind. She figured out what she was missing. Plus maybe seeing her Mom (Brooke) loving on those baby goats made her jealous.

I don't know if blackberries are different in your region, on the west coast they are the bain of our existence. 🤣 They grow wild everywhere and it's very hard to get rid of them. Goats are what most people use now to clear them out.
Yes they definitely grow wild everywhere in the Southeast US!! But if you are growing them in a controlled area then they can be a good way to harvest a lot of berries for your family. I like to plant the blackberries along long fence-lines so they serve as a protective barrier and don’t take up valuable garden space if they have thorns. Thankfully at some nurseries you can buy thornless blackberries too.
Raspberries would be great too what do you think ?

Sweet Moody is built for comfort and cuddles - not speed. 8 peacock eggs!!! I thought that would qualify as dance worthy. Ozella is probably disappointed Jason didn't break-out some moves, she worked hard to achieve high numbers. Brooke is looking quite stunning. Apparently the hard work on the farm suits her. I admire her for many reasons including her kind, loving heart. You have a lovely family. Jason, it won't be long before MaryCarl starts dating. As my late Daddy often said 'it's time for some target practice. He was a peaceful man but somehow guys were fearful. In hindsight he was correct - yet again.

Have you considered getting trail cameras? It'd be interesting to see what you get on them, especially at night. Do you have any predator pressure? (bobcats, racoons, hawks, etc.?)
I incubated 1 peafowl egg, but only 3 days after it hatched, it died. So I'll have to live vicariously through y'alls peachicks.
peachicks can not be alone... they die.... birds are flock animals like humans NEED COMPANY

Thanks - I had 2 eggs from my peahen, but one was not fertilized. I was going to get some chicks for some companionship, but it went so quickly. One chick was not the plan, just how it ended up. She may lay more, but it's a race to find her nest before the coyotes find her. We are building an aviary - it's not quite done yet...
