same here first two potters that stuck were the surf guy and the dirty potter xD, there were others probably i flew by but personality-wise and voiceover these 2 apparently came up on top as i don't check out others regularly thinking about it and looking back

Good for you!, Thanks for sharing everyday life.. as it helps see even experienced potters sometimes have off days too!😁

I found your channel after starting my pottery 1 class in college and trying to find tutorials and pottery videos to learn more and hopefully get better at pottery. I'm still not the best but I have managed to make a little pottery studio for myself in the back of the garage. I now have 2 wheels and 2 kilns and a ton of glaze and am just waiting to get the electrical work done so I can use the kilns! Your videos inspire me so much and I look forward to them every week! 😊

I started watching your UA-cam when I started a class in ceramics at a local college. I looked on UA-cam and searched potters. Your name came up and I’ve been watching you ever since. I am a subscriber. Love all your videos. The first one I ever saw was you with your baby in the kitchen you were feeding him and then you went out to your studio. So sweet!

So I worked in a pottery this summer in a drop-in pottery studio where I instructed children on a beginner’s level. Mostly centering and dealing with annoying parents I fled my work-shifts during the nights into the workshop. Let know I lived during this time with professional potters and art majors, and became near friends with some. Sometimes I stayed all nights in the workshop, occasionally with company, but mainly by myself enjoying the peace and quiet of throwing. This workshop was built in the 19th cen. (1889) and I would describe the environment as cosy yet hauntingly quiet and actually a bit spooky. One of my colleagues had recommended some podcasts and videos to listen to when ”throwing in the dark” and jonthepotter quickly became my favorite. Ive learnt so much these past three months and I will never forget the memories I gained from the summer of 2019 :)

I stumbled across your channel while surfing for pottery throwing. I can't tell you the first video as I quickly marathoned what you had up. You've inspired me to build my own studio after being stuck in a windlowless basement utility room for a decade. Thanks for all you do. I look forward to Mondays and Wednesdays hoping for a new video. Also, I love how much you talk. I find the videos of others who don't talk impersonal. Your personality is part of what sets you apart from the others, making you my favorite to watch. You're such an inspiration!

I found your channel over a year ago when I was thinking about getting back into pottery again with my son. Subscribed, watched all the old videos to catch up, and now I watch every week with my 6 yo son who LOVES your channel (and we take turns who gets to use the mug from your Kickstarter). We are remodeling our own studio now as well! You have been a big inspiration. Thank you!

I found you by searching for different throwing tutorials since I was getting into pottery at university. Your glass coaster tutorials were the first videos I saw and really inspired me to be creative in pottery. With the help of your videos, I was able to make a lot of different gifts for my friends and family. I added the personal touch of using their favorite alcohol bottle as the glass. Thank you so much for all the great content and time you put into the channel! You've inspired me to think outside the box with different glazes and form techniques.

My name is Nina, I am a senior in high school! I have been taking “ceramics” at my school since I was a freshman. I absolutely fell in love with pottery making in my class. I have been working really hard on trying to improve my skills. The way that I found you was searching how to make a hand warming mug since my friend wanted me to make one for them. (I am waiting for school to start up so I can get back into the studio). when I found your channel I was immediately hooked and binge watched so many of your videos. I live in Minnesota in the suburb of Maple Grove, (I hopefully will be visiting one of the mocha monkeys soon!) I became extremely inspired by the video of you telling your whole story of how you got into pottery. You are literally the reason that I want to major in Art-Business so I can own my own shop and have a studio in the basement! :-) You teach me so much every single video, I know this sounds cliche but I want to be just like you when I grow up. You are my idol and even if I don’t win this mug, I just really hope you read this so I can thank you for helping me, you put me on a path for my future and for that I will forever be grateful. Thank you so much JTP, and congrats on 50K, this is just the beginning:)

Was binge watching videos when I stumbled on one of your videos. Been watching ever since. Just did a twelve hour throwing demo at our county fair. Nothing quite like a class of second graders rushing your pottery booth and wheel every ten minutes for three hours. Nothing got broken, and we all had fun. Five more days to go.

Actually, I loved watching Joel throw on Facebook and decided I wanted to watch more videos of throwing pottery so I went to UA-cam, searches throwing pottery, and you popped up! I don’t remember the first video I watched because after that first video I was on a binge, watching all of the videos prior. Love your vids. I especially love your coasters! They are my fav.

I found you through your interview on The Potters Cast! Your approach, and story were so inspirational, and relatable. It gave me so much confidence to pursue my own dream of being a full-time potter. It's scary, and exciting, but I'm here now, and I really appreciate everything you do for the pottery community!

I found your channel over a year ago. I'd just started pottery class for the first time and the way my teacher explained how I should center and pull wasn't working for me. So, I came to youtube for some tutorials and I wasn't disappointed :)
I'm not a great potter by any means (I'm currently working my way to throwing my first teapot), but I'm passionate about it; I find it to be one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.
Your enthusiasm is wonderful! Congrats on the new studio and the 50k subscribers all the from Argentina!

During my pottery class I was struggling with centering. I googled how to center, clicked on videos, watched a few, including yours, and was an immediate fan. Beer.

Found your channel looking for some good intro to throwing videos for my HS students. Loved how simple you made the process and the energy and excitement so tons of videos later, I'm still watching. Love how you didn't do just generic plain pots, but through the twists and fun shapes as well.
