- This was going to be our first ever Cunard cruise , we were due to set sail from Southampton onboard Queen Mary 2 . We had a boarding time of 2.45.
Rather disappointingly we had received an email from Cunard stating that our two ports of call were having to be changed because of weather and a strike in Le Havre . These were replaced by Cherbourg , and Portland in Dorset .
We arrived at Southampton, and in no time were settling in onboard the beautiful Queen Mary 2.Our room was a sheltered balcony option that suited our needs perfectly .
After a Quick Look around the ship , we headed to the outer decks for the sail away party . This was great fun with a band playing , a DJ spinning some tunes ,and a very busy bar . Plus the sun was out and it all added to what was a great sail away .
After unpacking ,it was time for our first meal in the Britannia restaurant , and very nice it was too . Later that evening we found ourselves in the Golden Lion pub enjoying a drink and listening to the group that were playing .Our first impressions of Queen Mary 2 were very positive , it really is a very Grande looking ship . One that we are looking forward to explore , even if it is only for three days .

48 years, happy anniversary and congratulations 🥂 what a great team you make ❤ The ship looks wonderful, very traditional and love all the vintage photos and pictures. The art deco theme really does add the glamour to the ship. The food looked very nice and the menu had lots of nice dishes to choose from. Thank you for making another wonderful episode 👏

Thanks Percy , the ship was great , a bit of a step up from what we have been on recently. How interesting that he was on Cunard as a bosun . My Dad and son were in the Royal Navy. Car is our pride and joy had it from new 2016. May have to sell it soon as insurance and tax is getting crazy. Next week is Pearl trying to be posh having afternoon tea. Ahoy, Happy Anniversary Pearl & Brian, we hope you celebrated in style in the Pomagne Bar 🙂 Can't wait to see if you visited Weymouth, we recently cycled down to look at the QM2 when she was in Portland on June 1. Ahoy Johnny , thank you very much ,we certainly did celebrate but I limited Pearl to one glass of bubbly 😂 . Your message really made us laugh 🤣 so thank you . So we were onboard when you cycled down to Portland , we stayed on the ship that day to do some exploring and filming . We stayed in the Holiday Park just down the road last year looking over Chesil Beach, and went into Weymouth for the day . I have been to Weymouth on lots of occasions as my Dad was stationed at Yeovilton back in the day .

We are going on Queen Mary in October so looking forward to the rest of the series, we have been on Queen Victoria a couple of times and the golden lion is always our favourite venue also cunard have the most amazing libraries on ships that we have ever seen.

You were sitting in for Ben Shepherd and Cat Deeley, presenting This Morning and had cruise Vloggers, Travel Vlog Jamie doing the cooking,Brogan Tate as travel expert and Carole and Paul Morgan doing what the Speakmans do, and then Pearl was on the panel of Loose Women and you, Brian, was a contestant on Tipping Point. Oh, I hope it's a recurring dream as it put me in a good mood all day. Love to Pearl, and if you can book November 8th, Iona, for the Canaries, the drinks are on me. Or if you ever fancy visiting Nottingham, you have a place to stay, Gratis of course.

I usually sit with the Granddaughter and watch it , she gets excited when the counters all come down. Good afternoon Rene hope you are all well . Thank you very much 48 years sounds like a life time , but it has gone by really quickly which is a bit scary. We really enjoyed this ship , very grande and very well looked after . A throwback to older style cruising. I have passed on your comments concerning Pearls dress , and she was very pleased. We have had a lot of dry weather recently and quite hot at times . Hope you get your much needed rain soon , it’s a shame it couldn’t rain at night then be dry during the day , that would be perfect. In a sheltered cabin, do you get robe and slippers? Also is their conditioner please? Some say not but it was on the Anne. Thanks

Hi Mimry an update ,after double checking with Pearl I can confirm that there was no conditioner. Slippers yes , robe and conditioner no .
@@pearlandbrianstripsandadve8619 Yoy should have gotten robes - in Britannia they are the 'waffle weave' cotton robes, the Grills pax get softer terrycloth - and the soft robes are the ones available for sale. Back in 2022 our steward/housekeeping needed a nudge to supply robes.
