I remember this cartoon. Great for Halloween! Wish they show it again
I have seen this version now four times on UA-cam. I want to say thank you. When I was a child I thought the Headless Horseman was an etheric creature, now I see the rider may point to Brom Bones.
Memories of my childhood.
I LOVE THIS CARTOON VERY VERY VERY MUCH I SAY
I haven't seen this in years, just a couple of scenes brought back memories of this from my childhood.
This is the same company who released an animated version of "A Christmas Carol" in 1969 (or 1970), and also an animated version of Rip Van Winkle....wish they'd do a DVD version re-release of all of them !!
The 'Scooby Doo' style of animation, common to cartoons from the 1970s.
Yeah, it was cheaper to make than the more fluid cartoons made a few decades earlier. Sometimes Fred Flinstone would just move his mouth.
I wonder if it was Hanna Barbera? Maybe?
Lol Scooby Doo... Lol
@@onlycoldbones4107 it was an Australian company that was contracted by Hanna Barbera. It was cheap and done to save money for Hanna Barbera.
I played Ichabod Crane in the local theater I got best actor that year
" a Theater production of sleepy hollow sounds like a Treat! But until midnight shall you greet. You winning a award for your Great performance! Is a happy memory soon to be adored"
- Headless horseman

*My Childhood Nostalgia*
Major flashback 😲😎💖🙂
I like how Ichabod is a lot sillier and goofier here.
Sorry for my ignorance I've worked out its the story of Rip Van Winkle. The confusion was as on British London weekend television they showed the two films back to back with no ad break, Rip Van Winkle following on from the legend of sleepy hollow.
I've never seen this version before.
Me either . It's not bad .
Nor have I.
THIS IS AWESOME!
Katelyn Sincavage 0:00. What was that part at the beginning?
@@stephenbyrne2897 Rip Van Winkle
Now wait just one FRIGGIN SECOND. Ichabod makes it sound like Sleepy Hollow isn't where he resides, he basically says its a place he can visit. He LIVES in the town of Sleepy Hollow, he doesn't go back and forth from it and to it. Slight error but all in all a very accurate retelling.
+blackcat77100: He's originally from CT, so that's what they meant.

The actual town was Tarrytown. Sleepy Hollow was actually the little valley a couple of miles north of Tarrytown. And of course Ichabod was changing his actual abodes every week to the homes of each of his students.
First time, viewing this. I must of missed it, way back, when. Check out Katrina 😲!!! I've never seen her, drawn so good 😏!!!
Used to have those on video too! They reversed the stories for some reason, Rip van Winkle was second on the broadcast version.
Thank you for sharing this with us. Since they have taken all the good show's off and to put stupid stuff on like more cooking network's etc.
tale of washington irving has rip van winkle and the legned of sleepy hollow
I would love to get a copy of this from you for my Legend of Sleepy Hollow Collection
good
Ichabod had the last laugh when bram found out that Katrina gave birth 6 months after bram married her
tales of wshington irving features rip van winkle and the legend of sleepy holllow!
Like this cartoon good
He was a mercenary from Hesse Kassel.
Alessandro de souza
Somebody PLEASE tell me what kind of dog that is!
what's the name of the cartoon at the beginnig? the part with the laughing dwarfs?
It would appear to be 'Rip Van Winkle', another story of Washington Irving's, and part of the same 1970 animated series as this one.
I've only got the digital video from which this was uploaded from.

Hi I was wondering if there is another animated story that goes with this. I first watched this back in 1979 when I was eight and have never forgotten this film. There was I remember more to to the TV animation, a story that follows on from the ending of the posted one where a hen pecked man wonders into sleepy hollow and is called by a drawf using the voice of hen pecked's wife, he is tricked into falling asleep and wakes up an old man. Interestingly it looks like the very beginning of your part 1 post has the last few seconds of this story. Many thanks for posting this by the way.
Disney's version is the best--hands down. That might be the one you're thinking of.
That other animated story you're remembering is "Rip Van Winkle"
You aint kidding, lockjaw.
6:23 take it easy, teach!
lmao politically correct
The headless horseman
Ichabod Crane
Brom Bones
Katrina Van Tassel
4:14 OK, Archie Bunker.
Ichabod is like 30 year old Robert Englund.
Do my ears deceive me or is that paul lynde?
I love these cheesy 70s cartoons. One question: Why does Ichabod have to board with the townspeople? Does this guy get paid so he can live in a house? That seems suspicious.
Washington Irving explains in his story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" that the town's people do not wish to pay Ichabod enough to afford a house of his own. They view school masters as "lazy". He is therefore obliged to stay on at their farms where he rocks babies and performs small handy tasks in addition to teaching school and choir.
Bram is a haterrrrr.
