I've got two questions regarding iOS 18 shortcuts -
1. Is it possible to get active timers by labels?
2. Is it possible to change the lock-screen shortcuts automatically based on location or focus?
Thanks! You can't change the Shortcuts on the Lock Screen automatically, it's always a manual process. And yes! You can get alarms by label.
I’m always getting ideas from your videos. On your translate shortcut, is there a better way to have the audio repeated? I don’t understand the repeat action very well. That way if someone didn’t listen carefully the first time they can hear it again. Also, on your heath tracker, I think putting a Numbers action over Notes might be better. That way you could graph and analyze any data. Just a thought. Thanks for making these videos!
Thanks! Def going to try and add health data to a spreadsheet next time, and you can have a menu at the end that asks whether to repeat or start over. Then duplicate the speak text action and put it under the proper menu option.

Suggestion: I built something similar for the health tracking - but I think you can take it one step further if you have it append into a Number Sheet versus plain text note. As it dumps data in, it can automatically update charts and graphs so you have visuals for all that data. (I.e. track frequency symptoms over time, etc)
You can even pair it with Apple Watch Data from your Health Apple like average heart rate for the day etc. but
you do have to turn on a setting to allow mass export of health data.
Thank you! And that's a great idea. Have you found the Numbers spreadsheet actions to be reliable? That was my only hesitation as it used to be a little flaky.
It was definitely very finicky to set up but after that it was pretty seamless. And it took a while to figure out the health data import issue (unless you change the setting it blocks you doing calculations with large amounts of exported health data). I used the Add Row to Top/Bottom function - and add return to Home Screen at the end because it wants to take you into the sheet when it runs.
I do the same thing for collecting rainfall data. The Numbers app with shortcuts it’s awesome!

Yeah, the iOS 18 beta 1 had that issue. Beta 2 for developers is out now though!
Learnt something new again! Didn’t know they added the Home Toggle action, such a relief! I’d earlier made a theatre mode shortcut too which turns in my Apple TV, opens remote on my phone, asks me which app I’d like to see, and turns on my Govee lights in dreamview mode. Quick question though, your Mute Toggle mentioned in the last shortcut is still using IF statements right, and not a new direct toggle?

Dude! I really like your videos. I learn a los about shortcuts and automation, but i have a request that i really need: currently i use differents focus modes in my day. So, i need to active it in different hours ON the same day and in certain days Of the week. Also, i need to learn how can i silence a notificatios for certain app without silence it in a focus mode!! Thanks! It sounds like you can create a bunch of manual automations for time of day that activates the Focus Modes when you want them. Does that make sense?

Do you know if it is possible to have a shortcut that turns down the music volume on your streaming speaker when there are an incoming call on your iPhone. Streaming from the same iPhone that’s receiving the incoming call. Volume to be turned down gradually.

Can we create an iOS shortcut that suggests a balanced dinner menu based on what I ate for breakfast and lunch? Additionally, when I take pictures of my food and store them in apps like MyFitnessPal, will they be able to accurately estimate the grams of food consumed?

There's not, unfortunately.
I was trying to get the voice notes to work for my online classes, but the stopping part or going on longer than it can handle have been my biggest hurdles. The normal recording app transcribes okay but getting a shortcut to do it and format all my class lectures would be killer. Recording app has done up to ~21min for me but after ~8-10 it starts lagging out visually
I so wish it honored the "on tap" choice as well.

There *are* actions for cellular and wifi toggles, but nothing to "get cellular signal" unfortunately.

@@beardfm same.. but trying to find what’s new or fixed yet. Updating macOS now to try mirroring.. control center seems a bit stable.. I think india region didn’t get RCS support as others did in messages settings
@@beardfm a few bugs noticed.. app icons suddenly lost and all default to white boxes. This bug got fixed by changing app icon size to large once and then back to normal, all icons reappeared. Also, photos app interface customisation that I did after DB1 seem to have been reset.

Depends on the complexity but with more simple ones…yes.
I haven't gotten scenes to do that yet, but it's early in the beta cycle so will have to test closer to release!

Yes! You can use that too
How do I change the spot in the health shortcut when it asks workout it gives me a yes or no in notes not a number?
Rather than ask for input, add an "Choose from menu" action above it, put yes / no as the options, and then select that to be the variable

That's an iOS 18 feature which is only in early beta right now. It will be coming as a public beta in July and then out for everyone this Fall!
Stephen - I tried adding the resume podcast shortcut to the Lock Screen. However, it only brings up the main shortcut icon as a choice. Any suggestions?
iOS 18 has been buggy with the Lock Screen Shortcuts, would recommend trying to update to beta 2 which came out today!

I'm still using iOS 17 as I only have one device. Have they added the feature to not notify when run on the automations regarding wifi and mobile data?
I've been able to turn off all notifications for Shortcuts, just make sure to turn off all "show when run" toggles
@@beardfm I have an automation that when I leave a WiFi network, to automatically turn on my mobile data. There is no option to turn off notify when run. What exactly should I turn off?
@@beardfm can you make an automation about joining a WiFi network, without getting any notifications? There is only the option to Run immediately and not to toggle notify when run

If you start the processing of adding the task in Shortcuts, yes. Otherwise there is no automation for "when a task is created" unfortunately.

It requires iOS 18 which is only in developer beta right now. Public beta should be available in July and then it's out for everyone this Fall
I downloaded the voice to note shortcut, but it does not show as one I can select from the lock screen. What am I missing? Running iOS 18 beta one.
beta one was pretty buggy with the Lock Screen options. would recommend updating to beta 2 which came out today!
How do you deal with shortcuts failing? Nearly all of my shortcuts to my Apple Watch consistently fail.
tbh, I don't run Shortcuts on Watch often for that reason. They fail less on Mac for me, but it's not perfect.
@@TheRealmfc90125 have an if device is watch flow in your shortcut.
Really depends on what the shortcut does but I have some that work slightly differently to achieve the same outcome using an if statement which includes an extra step if run from watch.

Unfortunately Tim can’t Cook. The fact that “apple intelligence” didn’t come to shortcuts creating is something else.
It may yet, we still haven't seen Apple Intelligence in action.

1900 is 7pm not 8pm
Indeed it is. However, the time is formatted to hour only, so "Greater than 19" is 20. Fooled me when I created a similar When Connects to Carplay shortcut. CarPlay played a local station between 8-10, for the trip to work. When the station played at 10.30, I was confused. The If statement was looking at the whole time , 0800-10.59. Because the time was acually between those times, the local station was splayed. Changed the date format to hours (H) and all was well.

Sometimes your Shortcut seem a lot to overengineered to me. I have a Shortcut for turning AirDrop on/off (all avail states) and it’s just one action, no menu needed …
You can do that in Control Center without even leaving the lock screen.
If you just want to toggle it, that works without a menu for sure! It's all preference, and even more so where you want to use it. Action Button vs. Lock Screen. vs. Widget, etc.
@@beardfm Not only if you want to toggle it. Instead of setting the shortcut action to what to do, you can set it to ask what to do. So you don't need the menu, it will ask you to what it should be set when running the shortcut. This works for basically any action which sets a state or needs other kind of input.
Makes a video about shortcuts on Lock Screen and hardly talks about that. Instead he just shows off all his weird ass shortcuts.
