Thank you for these updates from a fellow Sport-L owner. I hope your paint lasts much longer than the White Orchid Pearl they used in 2010s Hondas. I average 39 in my AWD CR-V.
Your car review carries a lot of impact versus other car reviewers, you own it. Nice job.
I appreciate that! Thank you.
Thank you so much. We just bought a Honda SPORT L CRV HYBRID. Your videos were practical, real life driving information, and very useful.
Just purchased one. Appreciate all your updates. It's like being able to see into my own future :D
Looking forward to your 5k Civic review! I just bought a Civic Touring. Not quite to 500 miles yet. I'm a little nervous after you mentioned all the squeaks and rattles you're dealing with, but so far mine's been solid.
Thanks for the update. Recently I made note that the charge level on my Pixel 8 pro with a case was at 77% before starting a ~40 minute drive with the phone on the charger. When I got home, it was at 100%. I wasn't using any apps during the drive. I thought that was OK. You're not the only one who's said the charger stinks. Ours seems OK. 2024 CRV Sport L Hybrid FWD 3500 mi.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Why did you need to change the rear diff fluid so soon after purchasing the vehicle? Is that normal?
I have a 24 Accord Hybrid Sport 11.4k miles. I have not had any problems. (same drive train, except no awd)
Got oil changed at 8k.
Bought our CRV Hybrid Sport L in December 2023 and 8k miles later love it. Tires are fine but will change to Michelin when Bridgestone wear out. We are retired owners and plan on keeping the CRV.
Paul, on your bike rack issues, there is a setting to turn off parking sensors, I don't remember exactly where it is but I do recall I was using the 9in touch screen to scroll through different settings last week.. I also downloaded the owners manual, I find it easier to search and I remember a comment in the manual that if you disable the parking sensors it will affect low speed AUTO braking. In your case thats desirable.
That’s a good idea to download it, flipping through it I wasn’t able to find it. I’ll take a look! Thanks!
On p382 of my downloaded manual they call it "Rear Sensor Setting". Can you or @dancer14217 confirm that turning Rear Sensor Setting to Off persists after you stop and restart the car? (I would hope it does persist, since they refer to it as a customization setting.) Thanks!! I'm interested in a CR-V but do need to be able to hitch on a bike rack.
I have the best car that I have ever owned - 2023 CRV Sport Touring. I am a low mileage senior driver with the car in ECON mode all the time. I don't spend a lot of time on freeways and take slower back roads most of the time. To me, 50 is better than 80 because you will see so much more!
Thanks for the update! We have had our Honda CRV Sport-L Hybrid for 5 months now, have just over 4K miles and for really enjoy it. I do find that when I first turn the car on the infotainment system seems to take a little longer to get going than I feel like it should. And on a recent trip that took us through some mountain highway driving the engine was extremely loud when under load, like when it "downshifted" or did the fake downshifting it was really like nothing I have ever heard in any car in my 35 years of driving, it was a bit startling to me and my wife. It kind of made me wonder if something was wrong, but after getting out of the mountains it seemed fine again. Any other owners experience anything like this? Oh and it will be 5K oil changes for me.
Thanks for these awesome videos! Do you have a video or have any opinions about the extended warranty for these vehicles? Or the maintenance package?
Thank you! If you want to get an extended warranty, always go with the factory one. I would look into an extended warranty from Saccucci Honda or Curry Honda Care. Get quotes from them and pick whatever is cheaper :)
I wish they would've made the screen bigger and added led turn signals in the rear! I would love to see ventilated seats as well! Also, they should have made the hp at least 250 and up!
please change your oil every 5k miles don’t do every 10k like they say if you plan on keep your car long term watch car car nut on oil changes we have 2023 RAV4 hybrid drive 800 miles a week for work car now has 55k miles we change the oil like clock work every 5k mile keep the car in like new condition inside and out are total life time mpg is 46.7 mpg great suv but please change your oil every 5k even if you have to pay it will be worth it in the long run I hope you get to read this
There’s no right answer for this unfortunately, there are topics back and forth on this. Some people argue the metal shavings, some people argue additives are in the factory oil and changing it prematurely could damage your engine, I honestly don’t know what the right answer is.
What I do know is to follow the maintenance minder, in fact, the dealer won’t touch it unless the maintenance minder is showing service. I suppose Honda engineers know the car better than me so I just go by that.
Thanks for watching!
Need to remember that this is a hybrid power train that has no transmission but two electric motors that powers its wheels. So it less wear into engine compared with a Rav4 hybrid as that has a transmission.
Nice videos!
When did you get your first oil change? Some say to get it at just 2k..
Thanks, I did it at 10k or so. I follow the maintenance minder on the dash.
Hello, fantastic video. I just bought my hybrid sport L 2 days ago and noticed that steering wheel creek you mentioned. I'm scheduled tomorrow morning to have it looked at by a Honda dealership. I bought the car used as is, no warranty, do you think it will be covered by Honda or because it was bought used the Honda warranty won't apply for that? Car has less than 4k miles on it but saved me almost 7k in out the door price, really hoping I don't have to eat some of that money in out of pocket repairs. Did they give you an estimate of how much it was to repair or just go ahead and fix it as it was under the dealership warranty? Will update tomorrow if i get my answers before you're able to respond. Fantastic video, made me feel so much better about my decision. I also noticed you don't drive in eco mode, is that a preference because of you like how it drives in normal, or the environment you're driving in ie not stop and go city streets?
Thanks! That should be covered by manufacturer warranty for sure. They didn’t give me an estimate of how much it would cost, unfortunately.
I do like driving in normal mode! I find eco to be too laggy.
Thanks for watching!
Do you have a case on your phone? I have a silicone apple iPhone my phone never moves. You might want to try using a case to create more friction with the charging pad.
How do we set up the garage door on this new model? Can't find any garage buttons and can't find any information on the owner's manual.
As for the parking sensors, there is an option to turn off the beeping in that same Safety Support menu. In my car it appears to stay off.
Wouldn’t want to disable that. You can mute it when it goes off
Parking sensors are annoying and not really helpful beyond mirrors and camera. Shut them off and don't miss them. For the money would rather have 360 cameras or rear camera washer (standard on Canadian models!)
Thanks for this update. I want to ask, do you carry a portable spare tire? I’ve seen a video of someone who bought a spare tire package and keeps it in the back.
I do not. Thanks for watching!
Bought a CRV Sport recently have about 300 miles but started to notice the steering creak/click at lower speeds. Dealership isn't bothered by it compared it other other CRV and said it was normal. Is it something to worry about or just a minor creaking noise and doesn't effect the functionality/working.
Please let me know. Great Video!
It doesn’t affect the functionality at all! Just a noise thankfully. Hope they get it fixed soon!
We just bought a CRV hybrid L and love it!! The road noise should go away once you change the tires. Bridgestone tires are made for performance and not road noise. Can't wait to swap them for a set of Continentals!
which Continentals?

Great Video on the CRV. Question: I use apple CarPlay but I think it’s little slow than directly using the phone. Is this an issue or normal? For Music and Maps.
I have 2024 CRV Hybrid Sports L.
Are you wired or wireless? The wireless can be laggy.
@@PaulsPlace I’m using wireless… may be that’s causing the lag. I’ll try wired as well. Thanks for the response.
Thanks. I do have the white pearl 2024. Should I get a ceramic coating or ppf?
I’m planning to keep car for long time
You could do both! PPF the front and hood, and ceramic coat the rest. Don’t forget the undercoating if you live in the salt belt.
I have no issues with the wireless charging for my iPhone. It may depend on the case you are using. I have taken 10+ hour trips and ran the phone the full time for maps and some music and had no issues with it being charged the full time.
I own a 2024 Honda CRV sport touring hybrid and I have absolutely had no issue with my wireless charging. I've always had a case on my phone which perhaps gives it a little more friction and keeps it within the two side fences. Perhaps if you don't have a case it is sliding and doesn't charge properly.
Thank you for your practical review. I learned a bit more about this car that I didn't know before. I have owned my 2024 Sport L since the end of December '23 and like you I am very pleased with it. My only complaints are no spare ( yes I am old school ), the owner's manual could be larger print and better pics ( thank goodness for UA-cam helpful videos.)
****Would you please reply back to me if you know how to dim the dash board lighting (speed odometer and power gauge;etc.)....thank you & Yes, I know how to adjust the lighting on the control display...that's not my issue.
I think you have the go into the gauge cluster controls on the steering wheel and choose the brightness!
Exactly!....forgot about all the choices available....tu
You mentioned a creaking sound in the steering wheel. Do you have a video of it?
I don’t, but when I get time I’ll try to make a video on it!
Hey Paul,
Another great video! Thanks for doing this.
I see you’ve got what appears to be a Garmin MIni 2 Dash Cam. Can you tell us how you wired it up for power? I’m still deciding on Viofo229 Pro 4k with rear camera and a Dongar mirror adapter power lead, or a FitCamX 4K unit.
Here in Canada, my 2024 Hybrid Touring now has nearly 3900KM and has been problem free, although having said that, there was a buzzing noise that came from the steering wheel, left paddle. The part was replaced under warranty and the noise was gone.
The more I drive mine, the happier I am with the purchase. I’ll be taking a road trip across Canada in a couple of months, into Ontario, where there are huge hills, and speed limits of 110K/ph to deal with. It will be interesting to see how fuel consumption does then.
Again, thanks for a great video.
I’ll try to make a UA-cam short of it today! I get asked this a lot.
I’m glad you are happy with your CR-V! I appreciate the continued support!
Sorry for the delay on this: ua-cam.com/users/shortsHS2CX4k-6S0?si=g0CrHd8wdlp-IJ3c
just curious, did you give up the foot trunk open function to install the bike rack?
Ours is the sport L model, it doesn’t have the foot trunk function!
When you come to a stop and it switches to the battery does your AC stop blowing until the engine engages
Not on this car. This is different than the start/stop systems in cars. Since this is a hybrid, the AC compressor is ran off the battery, so the A/C will run until you turn the car off like a normal one. Quite nice!
“Hondas usually have thinner paint”? Where’d that come from and compared to what and by how much?
It’s wildly known across all Honda forums and Reddit. Feel free to double check. Thanks for watching.
Where did you get Honda’s have thinner paint? That car has thicker paint than most from what I’ve seen.
It’s widely known across multiple Honda forums and Reddit.
I have the crystal black pearl and after a couple of washes and two months ownership you can see swirls and easy scratches. The premium colors you pay extra for seem to last longer. I expected the pain to last more. Otherwise, great vehicle
can you tell me hows the air conditioner?
Excellent. 0 issues.
Is premium gas required in either the hybrid or gas versions????
Nope!
Shouldn't the oil be changed at 1,000 miles for the first change? Machine shavings?
There’s no right answer for this unfortunately, there are topics back and forth on this. Some people argue the metal shavings, some people argue additives are in the factory oil and changing it prematurely could damage your engine, I honestly don’t know what the right answer is.
What I do know is to follow the maintenance minder, in fact, the dealer won’t touch it unless the maintenance minder is showing service. I suppose Honda engineers know the car better than me so I just go by that.
Thanks for watching!
I bought a ‘24 Civic Sport, changed at 5,000 miles. Didn’t want to wait until 10k like the maintenance minder was saying I would need to. Hard to imagine waiting that long to me 😬
Is it better to drive in regenerative break mode or in regular drive?
On this car, it's personal preference. On something like a Toyota Hybrid, it would not benefit you at all to drive around in B mode because it uses engine braking as well. The CR-V doesn't do that which is nice, so driving around in B feels like one pedal driving.
@@PaulsPlace that’s great to know, thank you for the information.
How’s road noise?
6:43
I don’t know if anyone else has this issue, but I have a Sport CRV which came with hankook tires which I thought were super loud and totally ruined the driving experience anytime you went above 20 miles an hour. I changed out my tires and I got Pirelli all season zeros which are the best rated tire I could find on tire rack. Unfortunately I still have a very annoying droning sound anytime I go up 20 miles an hour. The sound is only one note or tone and does not increase in tone with increased speed like you expect with tires, rather the tone is always consistent and only gets louder with higher speeds. I’m considering wheel well insulation to fix this issue. Otherwise the car is an absolute dream to drive and I have no other complaints.
Change your oil every 5k miles or the most 7.5k miles. 10k is way too long. I love Honda engines. Oil chg is the most important thing you can do to keep your engine running.
Is the test vehicle AWD?
This is AWD.
Thinking of selling my Volkswagen for this car. You didn’t get an oil change for 10k miles ? Also after 10k miles you needed to change some other kind of fluid. Is that normal for this car or ?
We ditched our VW for this. Yes, it’s normal and recommended by Honda.
@@PaulsPlace I gotcha. I’ll be selling my Tiguan soon for the crv. Gonna go with the sport L hybrid
70/75… we in Cali would consider than disrespectful 😂 get in the slow lane.
I have seen comments that say it can be slow on hills, have you noticed that?
I have not. I have seen some of those too, but we don’t particularly live in a really hilly area.
@@PaulsPlace Thanks for the replies and the videos. I am seriously considering one of these
You have to give it more gas but it doesn't feel any different than any other. However the regenerative braking slows you down so that is why 'it feels slow'. But you don't notice much of a difference.
I recently drove up the Grapevine heading south on the I-5 freeway in California where the grade is 6% for 5 miles at 65-68. The power seemed fine but at one point it sounded like it "shifted down" and the engine noise increased. I'm still trying to figure out how the e-CVT "not a transmission" actually works in different situations.
Boss on paper towel up and put it next to the phone
Honda /toyota reliability doesnt start from 100k, unlike other brands.
