  • I didn't have a trench to dig but I wanted to try out my new 8 inch trenching bucket so I decided to dig a small hole. It digs a little easier than my 16 inch bucket but doesn't move as much material. It will be great for trenching in electric, drainage pipe, or propane line. This video is the outside view of the digging. I also have the same footage shot from the seat which will be uploaded separately.

    Good job man! The machine got through the earth quickly.
    Im thinking of buying a bigger excavator soon maybe a 2-3 ton machine. Are the Chinese ones worth the money?
    Cause a new Kubota or Bobcat from the UK costs between 20-25k

      @ThorneBacks I did a trade deal on mine, I traded a small tractor and a little over $2,000 USD for it, while I am happy with it, I'd be scared to pay $5,000 or more for one. I think I got lucky with mine working pretty well, some of them break down right away. A kubota or bobcat would be a great investment depending on how much use you need out of it. I have actually been looking for one here in the states. Both bobcat and kubota have similar sized ones as mine is only they have diesel engines, high end pumps and valves, better cooling components among other things. It's really up to you on the pros and cons. For now, I'd rather use anything other than a shovel lol

      @skywatcherranchswr,
      Yeah, taking the chance on one is the problem, as you said, the known excavator brands have better components. But at the same time you end up paying 3-4 times the price for one. Your Machine does the jobs well and you have had a good result with your machine.
      Even with the known brands being easy to get parts and having smooth hydraulics, it still feels like customer is getting ripped off when you're paying £20,000 for a kubota which is a similar sized machine to yours.
      Might be worth swallowing the money to get a low maintenance excavator 😂🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

      @ThorneBacks years back I had a John deere 17g excavator on order for $29,500 and I decided to not buy it and now I have one close in size but paid for in full, I don't do commercial work so I'm SUPER glad I don't have a $500/month payment to worry about. I have a deal in the works to get another mini excavator in the spring for a couple thousand. If one breaks down and I have to order parts from China, I'll just use the 2nd one in the meantime. If the 2nd one breaks down too, then I just won't dig, I don't like shovels lol

    So I'm wanting one for around the house. Looks like it digs pretty well. Have had any issues with it?

      @manko4028 well I bought mine with a malfunctioning throttle and choke cable so I fixed those, had to tighten some loose bolts, changed engine oil twice during break in period, and I did adjust the track tension. Haven't had any issues yet. It digs awesome. I have a ton of digging videos I haven't posted on youtube yet.

      @skywatcherranchswr I'm looking forward to the other videos. I have been looking for a good deal on one, maybe in the spring.

      @manko4028 where I'm from, I have seen similar models at $3200-$4000 which is less than what I paid for mine. Easily worth the money and it's nice that the prices are going down

      @skywatcherranchswr I haven't seen them less than $5500 around central PA yet, but hopefully soon.
