If you don't have a lot of experience with this type of recovery you can make mistakes #1 Don't try to dig it out . It will only sink in deeper , only dig to the attachment points #2 To dead pull out of mud it can take up to 100 times or more than the weight of the machine in pulling forces, So rocking it up and down did help buy lowering the mud suction and moving the center of gravity , #3 As soon as possible a smart mechanic can can hot wire the track drive motor control solenoids open so the tracks will free turn , Ive had divers go underwater and turn on the key and operate the tracks and yeah amazingly the electric system was still working in 35 feet of water it was a Cat machine who knew it could swim and survive? , So if you can get in the seat and turn the key and the lights come on the hydraulic controls might still work . Rescue by disassembly could be an environmental disaster and very very expensive but I have done it .
Loved that every safety rule was followed, Personal protective gear was worn, proper tools were used and the equipment was well maintained. Can't figure out how the first excavator got into the predicament that it did.
4 wide metal plate and logs under the track can't hold the weight, just in minutes into the deep mud. Thank you for watching my video. Greeting from Java.

I've been the crane operator for many excavator in a lake rescue operations with my 300ton crane and have had to pair up with a 500 ton for a few , Fun in the mud LOL
Great videography. Good planning and teamwork. Clever use of the long boom as leverage. That mangrove costal mud is super sticky. Really no other way to hook up that tow rope to the dozer.

Just imagine if that had happened here in the UK... We'd probably have to import another container load of hi-viz from China to kit out all the 'supervisors', 'managers', and health & safety personnel that would have been on site... We'd also be required to install 'village' infrastructure for them to carry out their duties efficiently, and without too much stress... As for timeline? I'm thinking a week to plan, a week to get the plans passed, a week to listen to the objection, and then at least two weeks to get the machine out. With at least two false starts... And maybe even some industrial action thrown in for good measure... And at the end of it all, the blame for the fiasco would fair and square be placed with Brexit and/or Covid... Although the lefty socialists would probably try and find a way of blaming Boris...

This is an interesting video, mostly because I can’t tell who tf is in charge and everyone’s working together smoothly. Also that other long reach should have been actively digging while they were pulling.
With these videos there is always someone commenting about safety regulations and equipment. Well, in the real world there are real men who get the job done. I salute the men who built our world without regard to safety regulations. If they had, we would still be in the dark ages.
Seems like a path could've been excavated from dry land to as close to the sunk excavator as possible. Would've saved a lot of time and effort. Got it out though, good work.
The idea of a long reach is that you don't need to go into water and soft clay these excavators are gutless in recovery operations they wouldn't pull themselves out of any situation! good lessons are learnt by these mistakes!
Do the hydraulics run off a different engine than the tracks? It appeared he was able to move the boom, but not able to move the tracks.(when it was stuck in the mud)
Engine flooded at first, so no more power and Hydraulic pressure. Here this the update : ua-cam.com/video/sSAZHbs7Ch0/v-deo.html Thank you Jim for watching my video, greeting from Java, Indonesia.
We got a call to rescue a 50 ton Volvo from the same type of situation but it was literally in the middle of nowhere with no cell service. We decided it wasn't worth the risk!
The first thing to do is to get a fire hose and start washing it. I hope no one tried to start it up, as it's full of muddy water everyehere. This mud is worse than clay.. Cheers. =)

That must have been an expensive recovery. Four large vehicles were needed - a crane, two excavators and a bulldozer. I wonder if it was worth it; will the recovered excavator work again after being submerged in mud? But I realize even if it won't they couldn't just leave it there.
