You are a pure inspiration to me Davie I'm only 12 years old and relatively new to salmon fly tying but you've gave me hundreds of good ideas so thanks for that. Callum
I love going through your videos looking for reference then finding other delights to tie. I tyed a few Peacock spey's over the weekend, although I didn't have yellow Spey type hackles, but will try to get some ( would you know where to get blue eared ?.) and do a few more. I think I'll be tying a few of these will have to check if I have some of them lovely feathers on my skin. Thanks and Look after yourself and eachother Davie 👍
Hello Davie It is incredible to see your great skills when tying. I will try to prepare some of these red Devil for winter time, when I go for trouts in the highlands. Once again, my congratulations for your extraordinary work, and thank you for your tips. Warm regards, Jose Antonio
FINALY - someone who doesn't waste " a lot of time" picking up the siccors to cut off the snip of the thread, but just pulls it over. I actually just use a so short snip, that I don't need to do anything, bcz it's hidden under the thread. I know, it's barely anything, but it is an extra task, that there is no reason to do at all.
Neil....If I can jump in here ...you can get alternatives to moth balls that you can use . They are called Zensect ..ball shaped they are Orange when active but when they have turned white they are inactive and need to be replaced ..Just pu the capes in bags with one /two of these balls . You could also try putting the cape in a bag in the freezer for a bit then store it elsewhere .
i have been wondering what kind of vise that is you use... i have seen it before but cant figure out what it is... thanks for the neat videos all the way from South Dakota
Love your tying style. I have a question to ask: if you have to bleach feathers / fur what product would you use and why. Looking forward to hearing from you. Giuliano
Hi Giuliano, I'm glad you like the way I tye.. To be honest I don't bleach any materials as I did try many years ago and all I did was destroy the fur that I was trying to do. All the very best Davie
+Giuliano Masetti Try some hydrogen peroxide paste to whiten feathers if you must. As Davie says above, bleach (sodium hypochlorite a.k.a. clorox) will simply ruin your materials.
Love your work, Davie. I was looking for your Macaw Dabbler and I don't see it anymore. Did you delete it by accident? I was going to tie some up but it's gone. Thanks Rick in Washington state, USA
Hello Davie Thank you for your latest video,Your Videos are very inspiring. You can make it difficult things look easy. A question please, by your last 3 pattern you use a material called micro straggle.I have the 2012 catalog from Glasgom AC. What exactly do you use. Dragon Pearl Fritz fine or Dragon UV straggle fine (or standard)?.Thank you in advance for a answer. Best regards from Germany and a great saison 2012. Lutz from Germany
Interesting that you use super glue before applying varnish. Is that because of the type of fish this fly is for or is that standard procedure for you?
