Fly tying the Spey fly Grey Heron (var) with Fabien Moulin

Always a pleasure to ty Spey flies:) The bronze mallard for the wings is a fantastic feather to work with. Tinsel, silk, guinea feather and heron hackle are the other materials. For more security can one of the tinsel wrap in the opposite direction of the other. This fly will be with me in my box this summer :)

Yes this one is very sparse! If you want to help the wings to be more strong and that they are more in place, you can take some hair under the feather 👍

@@1973fafo Here on the Upper Columbia River in BC, Canada, the fish like them as sparse as you can tie them.
