This song is the one that used to play when I was in my second year of junior high school. My brother, who is five years older than me, would play it during his dance practice. I would watch him being taken out at night to practice dance, and those memories are still vivid in my mind. During that time in Japan, hip-hop and dance culture weren't as prevalent as they are now, but my brother still practiced dance and eventually went to New York. However, he faced mental health issues after arriving in New York, quit dancing, quit his job, and for several decades since then, he has been living as a recluse in our home. There is no trace of the proud brother from back then. When I listen to this song, I vividly remember the radiant brother from those days. It's the song that holds the deepest sentimental value for me.
I can't understand how anyone could call this "nothing special" maybe you didn't hear it back '94, but this was one of the hottest Hip-Hop remixes of an R&B release at that time.
...this is THE BEST version of this....had the cassette single....made her sound like a woman ....she should come back and let Pete Rock do the beats and mixes....shed be HUGE Right Now.....LOVE THIS. so many memories.
I do! Was living in my studio apt at 79 Washington Street in East Orange, NJ, at the time! I taped this song off the Angie Martinez show. Miss those times!
I heard this on the radio MUCH more than the original when I was waaay younger and the song was poppin on the radio. Years later like nowadays, they only play the original (which is also great)
he really does...same w/ madlib. i think he only released 10% of what he made personally, and i can only imagine the things he shared back and forth with j dilla.
Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS!!!!! I had the single CD w/ this remix on it when it first came out.... It grew legs and walked away... I've been looking for this remix for YEARS! This made my day! :)
its a subtle remix people not puffy jumpin all ova the track talking none sense (take dat take dat). this was 95 when a remix was just changing the beat a little.
I remember this remix here it drop on my bday 95 in JUNE 25TH I will always love this remix here and thanks too Pete Rock for that smooth R&B REMIX here summer of 95 was the shit for R&B i missed the 90's R&B music If you still jamming this in 2019 hit that damn like now!!!!!
been looking for this on youtube for a long time. I had this pr track on record many years ago. Just check it out when the beat and bass line drops!! PR is number 1
Yup I'd forgotten about this one til I heard it on SiriusXM Fly yesterday but I was like this sounds a little lacking....then I remember Pete Rock remixed it and here I am. 😄
maaan i miss beeing a kid, late summer nights with my friends on bikes, playing fotball til we're hungry, late night barbecue, water wars, and then ass whooping by moma for coming home late...back in the day when i was young im not a kid anymore.
petey i love you but this remix was unnecessary ! the original is great and you did nothing special except new beat and some unimportant sounds (like the beatbox in the background at the beginning etc.) the original has very good rap beat, not so different than this one here, i see no point...and please people dont hate i am a big pete rock's fan
You are right. The original and the remix is the same. This one just has hip hop sound bites in it to give it a hip hop lift to it. After you are sold on the song.. you can go to the original and not miss any of the extra sound bites. Side Note: I think Pete Rocks best remix is Can't Stop The Prophet not Shut Em Down
Beautiful Bassline and that Guitar 🎸 lick.
Monica on the vocals and Pete Rock on the beats.. excellent duo!! I miss the 90's
Pete Rock laced this production lovely.....
