    I would call what you ride, scooters, not bicycles. If someone wants a bicycle, the large wheels are better because they pedal better. Not saying bicycles are better than scooters, it's just a matter of preference,

    Once you experience 72volts, then everything else is a bit of a let down. I have 3 custom bikes, one a 1500w, 48v fat bike, a converted 24" bmx with Bafang BBshd running 52v, which is quite fast, but when I built my old school bike with 2000w, 72v, 100amp controller, which is pulling 8KWs of power on full load, life changed forever. I dont think i can ever go back?? Looking at pumping 72v into the Bafang, $$$$$

      100% agree, in Jan I built a 72v battery from my bike. I was already running 52v 65A on my bbshd which I thought was good enough but 72v always seemed like the end game so finally went for it. WOW what a difference, the bbshd is such a different animal at 72v it's crazy. It's not cheap but you will not regret it!

    Riding in the city with bigger wheels can still be beneficial. Curbs, pot holes, dips, gravel, pebble stone, rail road tracks, type roads. I had an accident on a crooked rogue ebike because the 20in wheel couldn’t ride up a 2-3 inch ledge where the side/front of the tires was and yeeted me off the bike braking my arm and my wrist.

    So I can't recall if your bike came with 2 batteries or did you add one more? I want to say you added one & I've long since been
    an advocate for having two batteries on-board so one is always hot. I'd also want some charging ability on the battery that was
    not being used to drive. Whether it be a small solar panel or a mechanical charging based on rotation of your wheels, I want to
    have that in a bike although I don't even know if a bike come w/ 2 batteries yet? I do like the experience you've shared. Thanks

    2Kw? You don't want an ebike, but an electric moped or scooter.
    Edit: Rereading my post, it could be taken with more snark than intended.
    The rest of your points are valid for your use case. As a counter example, for me the tire size is 24" or 26"+ as the gold standard since a good bit of my riding area includes gravel or mud and no public transit.

      2kw is indeed an electric moped or scooter and that's great, we need these! a lot of people don't want to spend 2k on a basic ebike but if it's an emoped that's a much better deal.

    Is this a street legal bike with a Vin number, license plate, etc? I'm assuming it isn't, but just wanted to confirm. All the kids are jumping on surons around here and modifying them to go 50mph+ but it's obviously not road legal at that point. No way to register it as an electric motorcycle either. (At least in my state, and I think the entire USA. Which I think is bullshit) The street legal electric motorcycles on the market right now are garbage by comparison. Maybe slightly higher speeds, same range, maybe more safety standards? Cost to gain ratio is just not there yet...

    • @Shindinru
      @Shindinru 7 місяців тому

      Well, electric motorcycles have more legal hoops and higher safety standards to jump through than ebikes. Ebikes are in their wild, wild west phase right now.

    • @paaao
      @paaao 7 місяців тому +1

      @@Shindinru I just wish a manufacturer could take something like a suron, make a load of money while it's the wild west, and then start the process of creating legal, functional, emotorcycles for people to enjoy. The idea of being able to plug into any 120V outlet to charge, and be able to ride 80 miles or more at 40 to 80 mph, for under $8k doesn't seem like an impossible feat of engineering. Then you look at the market place, and realize that it is... What gives!?

    • @paaao
      @paaao 7 місяців тому

      @@slimdunkin117 I'm aware. When you cut the wire, it's called a modification. The local cops here have started to pull kids over when they get complaints, or see them obviously breaking 25 mph and other traffic laws. It's only going to get worse as the politicians create new regulations and laws to address the gray area that still exists.

    Bill in the works in the assembly regarding e-bikes. NJ should consider high powered E-bikes as motorcycles to be registered and insured vs class 1 - 3 e-bikes, anything that goes over 25mph and has more than 1.5 hp/ 1120 watts is a motorcycle and I'm OK with that as that is the rule for mopeds.

    • @muramusan
      @muramusan 7 місяців тому

      No regular bikes can do 30 to 40mph it's pretty dumb that's the cap I think 40mph for ebikes should be. As it's enough speed to dodge cars just in case of a bad car or whatever. Plus be respectful and don't be a bad rider.

    • @MrJustek
      @MrJustek 7 місяців тому

      hold up, I thought scooters were 50cc and 30mph? So, why are ebikes 25mph and 1.5hp? I think 50cc scooters do 3hp? Why not keep the class 3 28mph speed limit and maybe raise the hp to 2hp? after that it's a 50cc scooter and requires insurance and registration? also make sure anyone riding something over class 2 needs to be at least 16 and up. so many kids under the age of 16 riding regular ebikes that weigh more than they do .-.
