If they are brand new, it would be a good idea to fire them before using. If they are already used it's not necessary as long as you prime them appropriately.
Hi. I'm used to priming shelves and molds, but have a question about my shelf. Since my shelf was new, it has what I think is a defect in the shelf. There is a ridge in the middle of the shelf that doesn't take the kiln wash well and causes an uneven surface. For years I just try to avoid that section of the shelf, but I am wondering, do you think I could sand this area without damaging the shelf? ... then, of course apply wash again? Thank you.😁
I would suggest contacting the manufacturer of the shelf and see what their thoughts are. If that leads nowhere, a lot of the times you can flip your shelf to the other side and use that side instead. I hope this helps!
Bought some used mold. I think they have ZYP on them. I would like to use bullseye shelf primer on them. How would you recommend I get the zyp off the molds? Thanks for your help.
Thank you, Lisa! This video is super helpful.
Thank you for sharing this! Looks like I need to redo the shelves...
Thanks, really a lot of great info. I need to redo my shelves.

Honestly, I don't have any experience with ZYP I would recommend contacting the manufactures and asking.
