If I rigidize silkemat will Spectrum or BE stick to it at 1450 degrees full fuse? I want to use silkemat as a glass releaser instead of fiber paper. Do I need to add an additional glass release?
I realized I missed that info on the video. I fire 1450F for 20-30 minutes. You can ramp afap without a ceramic shelf (you don't want to break your shelf firing too fast)
Yes and No. If your mold has only been dried and not fired, then it is easy to rehydrate with more Rigidizer (not water). If your mold has been fully fired and cured, it really doesn't want to absorb more rigidizer--UNLESS it has been lightly applied and there is still soft SilkeMat inbetween. Regardless, it is best to rehydrate at the dry stage instead of the cured stage. Make sense?
It really depends on temperature. At "flow" temperatures the softer glasses expand and contract, and can grab fibers. If rigidized, a spray of ZYP helps the glass slide. Yet, I have had reports of non-sticking, regardless. I hope that helps.
Maria, for some reason, I never saw your question. There is a distributor list on SilkeMat.com, and yes...it can definitely be used in a MWK. Thank you for asking.

Is silkemat available in different thicknesses?
I have some leftover silkemat rigidiser, can I use it on regular kaowool?
Our Rigidizer is formulated to work best with SilkeMat. However, I have tested it with kaowool and it does harden it.
@@barbaracashman thanks Barbara, appreciate the response. Have a great week.
How long and at what temp do you fire the silkemat to cure it?

If bunching the Silkemat to slump, must I pre-fire the Silkemat and at what temperature? Thank you.
can silkmat be re-ridigized

Does Bullseye glass stick to it

By the way, I have not found any glass sticking to SilkeMat at slumping temps, rigidized or not.
Thank you.
Hi how much is silkmat and how can I purchase Can it be used in microwave kiln?
Why make holes in mold ?

For some reason, your question never reached me. The holes were made for either a potmelt or vitrigraph mold. Thank you for asking.
