- The original plan was a 2500km loop up through northern Quebec and Ontario but I cut it short due to knee pain. The Orillia to Ottawa section was the best for camping with lots of crown land.
“There’s nothing like just having nothing to do but spend a day on a bike”. Amen to that.
Still a great ride despite the knee issues. It was very cool to see you connect that long ride with the trails in Ottawa (where I live) and onto the Prescott Russell Trail to Montreal. I’m planning a lot of rides this summer that will be on many of these routes.
Abe, great job on the video, and the trip. Good call on stopping, tough but wise!
Trips are about flexibility, who knows what each day will bring, this I know from experience.
Hope the knee heals quickly and completely!
Cheers, Rick
That's cool 30 days bikepacking trip. That's a long trip. 👍
Nice video. Interesting choice of routes as well - I think most would’ve hung a right on hwy 6 and followed the waterfront trail from Burlington. You made the right choice regarding your knee. An injury like that only gets worse the longer you ride on it and takes that much longer to heal. I now ride shorter trips and shorter days and always listen to my knees...
I wanted to pound the like button multiple times through the video
Thanks Dave!
Great video and journey, can I ask where your first night was on crown land? I thought I looked and did not see any crown land anywhere in Southern Ontario.
You are correct. Some places require a bit more...ingenuity. I would just say that public land is better than private land.
awesome ride. I want to do this same route this upcoming summer. how far was your first day out of london?
Up near Wyandot, it was about 120k for the first day. A bit long but there is a severe lack of good wild camping locations in the southwest.
Very Nice trip! Do you or Mr T could share the GPS routes? I'm planning to bike from Montreal to London at september.
Great video. Thank you for sharing. Did you use gps on your trip or how did you plan your rounds ?
I used my phone GPS and carried 3 battery chargers, one which was solar.
