It was a pleasure to swap champagne with you, but yours was nicer! I was kicking myself after for not properly saying hello and perhaps asking for a photo. I'll have to come to your restaurant instead and hope you're in
I was waiting for this one! I saved up for a year to take my wife for our 1st wedding anniversary and it was excellent. She had recently become pregnant, and they bent over backwards to accommodate all the nuances around what food you can't eat while pregnant, as well as her nut allergy. If the food wasn't great (it was), the service would have more than made up for it. Now that we have the baby (11 months old tomorrow), I won't be able to afford Michelin star food any time soon so will have to live vicariously through your videos 😅
The reason I love this channel so much is he is absolutely honest about every dish. So many channels just "love" everything no matter what. He actually reacts honestly. If he doesn't care for something as much he says so and exactly why, if he loves it, it's clear that he does genuinely. This is what you want in a channel like this!
Bravo for blurring the customers' faces. Sadly this respecting of others' privacy is very seldom seen in vlogs on youtube but I appreciate your consideration and taking the time to do it.
My god the production of this video is stellar, the songs used, the depth of the "documentary", the transitions are just excellent I would say GREAT job but "GREAT" doesn't even begin to describe the quality of this video
We used to go here 4 or 5 times a year when they only had 2 stars - absolutely fantastic, with a 3 course lunch menu with 2 glasses of wine, water, tons of pre starters and tons of petit fours, for…….£45! What a stunning price increase over less than 10 years.
Those were the days! I remember lunch at Gordon Ramsay with 3 stars for £45 a head with all the extras you'd expect as well, lunch at Dinner when it was just open for similar. There's still some lunch bargains to be had (Murano, Elystan Street amongst others) but it's not like it used to be. I also remember a dinner bed and breakfast at Lords of the Manor when they had a Michelin star: 7 courses, bottle of wine, glass of champagne each to start, bed and quality breakfast. It was less than £400. I looked recently and the same thing is now nigh on £800. The price of fine dining has gone insane that last decade.
Yeah, it really has skyrocketed at the upper end of the spectrum for fine dining. This restaurant's tasting menu used to be £215 a year ago; it jumped from that to £285 overnight. Plenitude, in Paris, cost around €330 two years ago for their Symphony tasting menu. It is now €475. That's why I'm trying to knock out most the top places on my bucket list within the next year or so, who knows how expensive it will be five-ten years from now?
I don't know why but hearing the levels of Wagyu from F1 to F4 and then hearing that the menu called for F2 is so refreshing. Just because something is more expensive doesn't mean it'll fit well with the rest of the dish.
@@bacchus8081 I live in Japan. There is no “F” wagyu here. Pure bred Wagyu is A1 to A5. It’s true that A5 wouldn’t be a match for all dishes because it is so incredibly fatty. It melts in your mouth but it’s not red meat. Personally I prefer beef that is predominantly red meat with marbling rather than fat marbling that takes up more than 50% of the cut. A2 to A3 is best if you want to eat steak rather than something that is more akin to Foie Gras.
@@SeanPeck-p2s That's not an argument. Restaurant's can't throw infinite money too get the regular deliveries of meat required to actually put it on the menu. They have a bottom line aswell.
If you want a Vesper, why not go to the Dukes' Bar about a mile away from the Dorchester? This is where the Vesper was invented by Fleming, and Alessandro Palazzi and his team serve an awesome version of this cocktail today. Highly recommended!

Would love if you went to the French Laundry, I plan on going soon. I went to Addison since I live in SD but personally I was a bit let down and I think there are better options here
Excellent meal, you definitely won't leave this restaurant hungry, with so many starters, main courses and desserts and so it should be at €3500 for 3 people? 😂
Love the videos so much! I went here ages ago about a month before they got their third star and it was great then as well. I'd love to see you do longer videos with more detail about each course.

I didn't specially planned trips to Paris and Copenhagen, but the videos about Plénitude and Alchemist were too amazing so .... You are really living the life I dream of, enjoy ! It would be great to have your review on Le Pierre Gagnaire because it was a restaurant that stunned me by it's proposition, meaning not going for the tasting menu but choosing a "Pierre Gagnaire Universe", amazing experience !!!

I loved this video. Really like the restaurant. Love that interior design. Less IS more! The food and wine looked amazing. Love a staff too that also has a sense of humor. Not so strict/snobbery.
We visited Alain Ducasse at dorchester to celebrate my daughter’s graduation from law school in 2015. It was perhaps one of the worst meals we have had. The fish actually reeked of ammonia , a clear sign that it has gone bad. I accompanied my wife to the restroom for her to rinse her mouth. The other dishes were also forgettable. But beige by AD in Tokyo and Spoons by AD in Hong Kong were both enjoyable. AD has opened recently in singapore and I am still too afraid to try.
I really enjoy the atmosphere, information and critics of the channel. I just have one recommendation, you have a lot of "moving" in your live scenes, for more detail and smoothness I would recommend to film in 60fps.
Pretty cool that the big man was there on the night. I went quite some time ago (was still 3*) and it was a giant let down saved only by the baba. Maybe I should give it another shot.

I do love this restaurant. The staff have been wonderful each time I've been. The food is pretty good too (in a classic way - though not the most innovative)
Genuine question, although I'm not sure if you usually reply to comments. Almost every 3 Star you've showcased on the channel has had a main of Pigeon/Squab. Is there a reason for this?
I really like your channel and i did not miss a show yet. Although, naturally a question came, how is possible you do not explore the italian couisine ?
Just watched the 12k orient express before this and have to day for 3.5k including the special wines, that doesn't seem like a bad deal. It would have to be a once in a lifetime thing for me but I could be persuaded for a special experience like that
I can appreciate the price of the food in these establishments, but I always take issue with the markup on the wine. Having had a wine bar in the past, we would typically apply a multiplier of 3 to the wine price. But in Michelin * restaurants the rule seems to 6 or 8 times and I just can't do it. I know what I would pay in the trade, and I can't bring myself to pay what they charge. They apply no extra value to the wine, so I can't see the justification. 😢
Yes, some wines don't have that markup. However as an example, I would purchase Tignanello for about 45 euros in Italy (where we had the wine bar). Our last outing to a Michelin star restaurant had the same wine listed at over £300. @@fnaticLoda
