does anyone else notice that superstar saga's plot is one of the most original in the series. Cackletta's success' are always shortlived no matter what and it always seems that the bad guys are always losing. The formula of collecting pieces of the (insert important gem of any sort) is done in the middle of the story. Cackletta is always involved throughout the entire story and its just epic, a villain that you also see develop together alongside mario and luigi's adventure. Elder princess shroob might be mighty, the dark star might be powerful, but they can never compare to cackletta's epicness.
ohohothisrocks well look at this way. antasma kidnapped peach and Mario and Luigi delve into the dream world and rescue her, but in doing so antasma manages to escape. they follow them to the mountains and fall under the spell of the dream beats. while they fight their way out of the dream world antasma and bowser collect enough energy to use the dreamstone to build their fortress and do quite a bit of damage. Mario and luigi, desperate to protect the princess try to find a hideaway for her, but find out that bowser already captured her once more and left a decoy to distract them. afterwards knock down the fortress and go in to rescue peach. they succeed in destroying antasma, but bowser devours the dream stone and gains immense power.. and summarily loses it afterwards. it still follows the same path

Partners in time, Bowser's inside story and probably dream team all shared the same formula of the bad guys dominating throughout the game and the last stand is to storm the fortress just to rescue the princess scenario. From what you've said Peach gets kidnapped twice in the same game, now that's a new low for the princess.
Best Mario RPG game to me on a handheld system ever! loved this game so much as a kid in middle school, music, fighting system, and storyline were all beautiful! cant wait to get the 3 other ones i havent gotten! Amazing game!
Yeah, if you thought these games were good, I would pick up all 3! They are overall great games, and a just as good, and in the case of Partners in Time, better than Superstar Saga! (But Partners in Time is just as hard as the original...)

Fawful was once cackletta's apprentice then becomes bean merchant and then finally the main villain with his own apprentice midbus. Even though he was defeated cackletta must be proud of him to avenge her death from the mario bros.
I beat this boss last night! It took me about 12 tries to finally realize Hey! let's use a red pepper! They make the battle pretty easy, and if you pair it along with the first bros. attack you get in the game, she goes down quick. (I don't know if this is true in most cases, but the attack REALLY helped me in the final battle)
This was the first console/handheld game I played when I moved to the states, got me into gaming (I used to play point and click/driving/adventure games on the PC before). It remains my favorite today. However, when I first played, I wasn't attuned to the grinding aspect of RPG's and was underleveled at every boss. I died SOO many times. I came back a couple of years later, and found that the bosses had become significantly easier, except for this goddamn boss fight. Hardest thing EVER.
Oohh the terror it took me literally 40 minutes to beat this final boss because I was so under leveled I was like 12 under of what your suppose to be but damn I got so good at dodging because of that lol
I spent a lot of time in both the desert and underwater level grinding. I also made sure to clear out every level I went to only once in a playthrough, such as the University. Early level grinding should be done in the forest, but the beach and the area near the Yoshi Theater before you unlock it are great places to level grind.
Same man. I really need to find my old Gameboy Advance and play this game again. This was one of the most entertaining yet still challenging games I have ever played. Or at least how I remember it. Yeah, this fight didn't go well for me.

Super Mario Wiki, the Mario encyclopedia. It says that the sign on Midbus' arm bears a resemblance to the logo seen on Pigmask machinery in Mother 3. Depending on how you look at it, Midbus is a living, breathing, "machine".
Part 2 -because that's the easiest way to get large amounts of Teehee beans, just keep playing the hardest challenge. Never hesistate to do a battle, and always have Nuts on hand. An Ultra Nut can make the last battle extremely easy if you can get to your items, insta full health. Have a few Golden Mushrooms on you too. Those always help. You can get one by finding all ten Beanstones in the main town of the game (forgot it's name, haven't played in a while.) Hope this extra advice helps
@MrYora999 It's more fun to use AR codes right before the final boss to put M&L back to level one though. Takes ages, you get to hear the music more, and really ups the difficulity (Anything is an OHKO then)
I think it struck an excellent chord with its difficulty, though. It's honestly one of the most satisfying turn-based bosses I've ever beating, even considering turn-based giants like FF and SMT.
@DemonicGhostwithin I thought she was easy: Mush badge+ 99 mushrooms +Great Force+ Perfectly executed chopper bros (You can hit multiple times) = 1 hit kill.
@soravsseph its just like paper mario: the thousand year door, where all the bosses have like between 30-40 hp, and the final boss has 120 hp, and can heal herself, does massive damage, and if you lose, you have to watch a long cutscene you cant skip....AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH
I just beat this boss; she was a lot easier than I remembered. I didn't use any special strategies, just constant Bros. Attacks- took about 20 minutes I had Mario & Luigi at level 41.
Part 3 And one more thing. Make sure to have the strongest level of Spike Badge equipped. You may fight a lot of spiked enemies when grinding. It especially helps when grinding in the desert.
She's really difficult the first time around because it takes so long to beat her, and you can get comboed pretty bad if you mess up. She gets alot easier after you've beaten her before. And yea, I'd probably say Elder Princess Shroob is the hardest in the series.

If you really want some power, make sure to get the best equipment. The Spring Jump Extra works best for Mario, because he gets heavy late game. Give the Game Boy Horror to Luigi when you're level grinding after you unlock it. And have it on when you fight bosses, you'd be surprised what you can grab with it equipped. I got a Golden Mushroom off of one of the Koopalings once! Abuse the blends too. For unlimited easy Teehee beans, abuse the jump challenge in the Star Fields...
The shroobs did that in the past, when Mario was too young to stop them from taking it over. Cackletta was about to take it over, but you stopped her before she could.
Cackletta's easy. Attack the right hand with Mario's fire, the left hand with Luigi's thunder, and the head with both, before you do this battle, try to get bounce bros advance, and learn how to use it well, because then you can wipe out the heart quick! That's what I did, i also used the advanced version of that move where you dig underground in battle, because with both of those moves, you can use them infinitival if your good enough.
Possibly one of the coolest final boss battle themes ever. The very fact you have to fight this bitch with one health each pretty much says either survive the attacks and heal, or start over. Next to Fawful, this is probably the hardest boss in the game. Fawful is a bitch

How I beat Cackletta's soul: During the previous boss fight, "Bowletta" (where Cackletta possesses Bowser's body), use the ADVANCE Swing Bros. move on Bowletta. If you do it right, you'll get a Max Nut. You can use this to bring both Mario AND Luigi to full health in one turn (you just need to dodge the first attacks...)

He only needed their help to beat the core, the actual power, dark bowser, he could beat on his own were it not for Fawful constantly reviving it.

the first time i played i was 31, the second time 40 and in my third play (the one in the video) i was 46, i´m a fan of level grinding.

Another way to beat her is to increase your speed enough for you to go first and use max nuts to gain health.
