Always check to make sure your blade is in perfect alignment, before shaving.
Videos like this are always great, Matt! Because new people are always joining us and starting with the classic shave.
Great video Matt, these instructional videos are for sure needed for all the new folks joining the ranks
Agreed just show hands. But thanks for the humor and advise. Helpful for new comers
Thank you for a really funny video. Man I thought the alternate names for the butterfly doors was funny but the sound effects was just too much. Had to watch it like four more times. Thanks for giving me a good laugh this morning.
Some other possible ways to handle razors (safety, double edge) and blades too, in addition to what you say and show here. At least somebody finally showed and said to be careful unwrapping and handling the exposed blade...
And now I want to add a vintage razor to the den... I KNEW watching this was a bad idea.
This was a great video I learned something, DE Blades can cut fingers .🥳
Video was good no dumb questions, just dumb misadventures.
Well Matt I think you cover subject well, but if someone was confused a rerun would cover everything you missed first viewing.
Great video Matt! I am surprised no one has created a TTO razor and sold it as the Silo Shaving Razor😅🤔
I have been wondering for some time about the best way to load my Rex Envoy XL. I wish you had shown how to load a Rex model, especially since you have a Rex packaging box on display in this video. The Envoy is such a wonderful razor and it gives me outstanding shaves. I treasure it. Learning a loading methodology would be great for me. With that said, I've always succeeded in loading it.
It's the same as the tech
Matt! Hahaha, awesome.
I want a rex shirt. Should have made a loading video for the rex sentry slant.
A few 3 piece razors have the blade alignment tabs on the bottom plate you might have pointed out.
I remember that RazoRick Gamechanger is like this but there are likely others. Anyone care to comment?
Glad you pointed out that the guard needs to be the right way. That's a pretty common beginner mistake, you put it on upside down and the razor doesn't work anymore.
how about the Futur?
I want to ask one more question. I know a person who only has the use of one arm and hand. The person is not an amputee, but only has the use of one arm and the hand on that arm. Is there a way for someone who cannot effectively use both hands, to load a razor? I'm sure there are many folks out there who are in this situation and have learned to adapt and meet the challenge.
Maybe some type of razor stand could help
Thanks Matt. Quick question on a butterfly opening adjustable razor. Should you lock the blade in before or after you dial to your shave setting? Does it matter?
It certainly helps to have the pressure off of the blade when you make adjustments on the vintage razors. The Rex razors are not affected by that because the mechanisms are separate
Is there a specific way to get a DE blade out of one of the cardboard boxes? I just grab the little tab and rip but assume there's got be a better way.
The plastic boxes are easy.
Usually these boxes have a perforated side on the back, if you push down on them, the box opens easily
Matt what direction do you do for your 1 pass shave?
WTG
@@RazorEmporium Thanks
I hope you don't mind some constructive criticism. A lot of your demonstrations just showed your face and shoulders but your hands which were doing the task were completely out of frame. Other times the camera shot was so wide that the razor was so small that it could barely be seen. When you loaded the butterfly you said there was a hook that cought the blade but I couldn't see it. Actually this whole video should have been just your hands loading the razors. I liked the idea of this video but the execution should have been better. I'm sorry if I come across like a troll; that is not my intention but a "How To" video should actually show in detail how something should be done.
you are 100% correct thank you
I too was wondering about the hook on a butterfly razor. I'll see if I have one in my collection that I can examine....yes! I have a made-in-China, no-name, butterfly razor of exceedingly poor quality. With some effort I got the butterfly doors to open (smile.) I now see that there is indeed a tiny "hook" that can catch the blade for the user.
Somebody get Bob a decent TTO butterfly razor.
The twist-to-open razor has a bar running in the middle and the long hole of the blade fits over that?!!?
@@10floz30minutes Yes. At around 0:08 you can see the bar you refer to. At 4:42 in the video, you can see the quite easy loading procedure. Twist-to-open razors have been around for many decades now.
Great video although I thought you would show how to load the Konsul & Sentry.
We already have videos for that
Excellent.
you get more razor burn and cuts with DE. back to cartridge for me
What blades? What razor?
@@RazorEmporium mach 3 amazing
@@hassyg4083 I believe you did something wrong try double edge razors again but don't push down so hard on your face that the razor do all the way and you should feel much better
@@alexpadillayt doesn't work. literally get so much razor burn with DE never had that with mach 3
@@hassyg4083 which razor do you have? And which safety razor do you have?
I’ll stick with my Mach 3
Only negative of wet shave is, you will cut yourself no matter how careful or how experienced you are. There is a reason why Gillette fusion 5 is the best selling cartridge razor in the world. You get the closest shave better than DE razor blades cheapest too. Each Gillette fusion 5 cartridge lasts about 30 to 40 shaves and virtually impossible to cut yourself even if you tried. Wet shave is a dangerous but fun hobby. But it is impractical in the modern world. Gillette runs the world for the gentlemanly shaving.
That isn't remotely true.
Thanks Matt for making a fun video for the everyday emails you receive on loading razors!🪒
