Fairly new to your channel and am LOVING it! I've already read 4 books you've positively reviewed and they were GREAT! You are now my go-to for reading recommendations. Thanks for your videos, and your cozy podcast is awesome as well!
I am SO happy to see Daughter of the Forest and Son of the Shadows on this list. As an author, Juliet has been a huge influence. She's amazing! Daughter of the Forest is one of my all time favorite books! Fangirl gushing over, lol.
I just have to save thank you for introducing me to Silvia Moreno Garcia! I bought Velvet was the Night because of your rec and then followed it up with the Beautiful Ones and that’s become one of my favorite books! Happy New Year!!
@23:25 😭you should really check out Umineko (the visual novel) if you like that genre combo. And judging by what you said on this book and some other of your favs, I think you'll love it. There's a few things to nit pick but from what I experience it's the best mastery-fantasy I've read Ill try not to spoil but its something like this: - think of "and then there were none" + Fantasy + Psychological stuff - metatexual - has some really nice themes.. story takles Human problems/conflicts and a few other stuff - touch of romance and drama Its a very unique story
It has a really nice and broad soundtrack too (some songs if curious) ua-cam.com/video/mAy_wBQ13ZE/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/oa_u_DI0fvg/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/UFyzTtKNzYI/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/KAeIcuss9UI/v-deo.html
I created a 23 in 23 list for the first time, putting a lot of fantasy books I've meant to read but hadn't gotten to yet. The first read, I'm reading right now, is Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb. I've read about 100 pages ... I absolutely love it. I kick myself when I haven't read fabulous books sooner but I have to remind myself they're read at the right time. I so look forward to all the books I'll be reading for the first time in these trilogies. For inspiring me to read this, I want to share with you again, if you like Hobb, you'll also like Elizabeth Moon's Paksenarrion series. Thank you and I'm glad I found your vlog.
I really loved The Hacienda as well. So atmospheric and just a fantastic gothic novel. I also read and loved Nettle & Bone as well. Shady Hollow was so cute and cozy. I just picked A River Enchanted as an add on book in my BOTM and am looking forward to reading it. I am so glad to see someone on booktube picking up Juliet Marillier books.
You've inspired me to do the same! I read 78 books and it would be fun to rank them like this. Thank you! btw, have you considered using storygraph? It's a nice alternative to goodreads and you can import all of your goodreads info over.
99 books is impressive!! And the thing that counts, for me, it's the enjoyment of them, how much did you love reading them, not how many are on the list. Still, impressive :D
I had zero clue about this channel until now, I clicked cause good idea but the more important thing is has she ever watched One Piece? now that is peak media!
If you analyze your list, your reading tastes are definitely developing towards literary fiction. I read most of the books on your top faves list, including Cha's book which I enjoyed and not many people have read. I highly recommend continuing on your path with some of those authors, Ferrante, Maggie O'Farrell, Clarke. I'm more of a hard sci-fi fan than fantasy reader (magic, dragons and overbearing male egos tend to bore me) but I will be giving Robin Hobb a try since you are such a fan. Glad I found your channel, except for fantasy, our tastes overlap. If you want to venture into mind blowing (lots of physics) sci-fi, try Liu Cixin (or reverse last and first for the Americanization). Some of the best sci-fi is coming out of Asia.
As I've mentioned before, I mostly read BL (boys love) manga these days. Yeah, I like the gay stuff lol. I don't include my manga in my reading log, but I do have a backlog of them I need to read. I read 77 books this year.
Just a suggestion for future tier ranking videos- as you place the book, make sure that you say what category you place them in. You do that for most books, but there were some that you didn’t and just said, “I’m going to place this here.” But unless you are able to see the screen, you don’t know where it’s placed.
You're right! Also, to make it even better, it would be great if the titles and author of the books were somewhere on the screen! Because when you don't know one, it's really hard to read on the little cropped picture of each one, and as a non-native English speaker, names are difficult to grasp (plus covers are often different so even harder to know if you found to right one on the internet)
i have seen you love Robin Hobbs books so i did give Assassin's Apprentice a try, I honestly did love the characterization and the relation and mystery behind fitz but its just that i find the main char to be hit by like every trauma and misfortune in the series. Should i give her series another try?
@@foolishreader thank you! Unfortunately sounds like a skip for me, though I wish more people spoke about how this series could be triggering for people
@@username4261 there are alot of misfortunes like someone dying, or well ig its a spoiler but his adopted father in a way has a relationship with his gf and they marry. I kind of forgetting the details but theres stuff like this. He just listens to the king/prince blindly like his devotion but its honestly way too much as he gets discarded easilly and gets tortured. Fitz on the other hand is a very intriguing char
Sooooo...I'm going to need a final screenshot of all of your books rated! I basically read anything you tell me to read. Also, I adore you! You and Clay's relationship is so much like my and my boyfriend's. Thanks for being amazing and sharing your life with us! 🥰
I'm honestly relieved to see someone else be disappointed in Daughter of the Moon Goddess, I expected to love it so much but was left with a "meh" feeling.
Atlas six being in great reads is the shock of the century for me, I did not gel with it all. The characters were so ... off. I also felt like the dialogue was so over worked and attempting the be philosophical that it became completely unrealistic. More than anything the plot disappointed me, I still don't know what the point of the book was 😂

is it just me or is there something poetic about reading 99 books instead of a hundred :))
hahaa
Love that 😂

Oh my god, how did I miss you starting Yona of the Dawn? Yona has some amazing character development, and the found family is just top tier.
I read Piranesi after seeing your video and it was AMAZING! Definitely going to check out some more reads from this list :)
Glad you enjoyed Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, it was one of my favorites of the year when it came out

I Love watching all your videos & your cosy vlogs, ☺️🥰❤️ but I LOVE these videos you make, they are so satisfying to watch 🤓📖❤️
I love love the books in the solidly good category. Urban fantasy is my jam.
hamnet and babel were also some of my favourites of 2022! happy to see so much silvia moreno-garcia :))
@peruseproject I just finished Piranesi. WOW! I enjoyed this so much! I’m finding it difficult processing all of my emotions.

Great suggestions! I wish you'd try the Chronicles of St. Mary's by Jodi Taylor, and the Time Police, the spinoff. Would love to see what you think!
happy new year! I hope 2023 is a great reading year for the both of us :)
I got 49 out of my 50 goal so I’m right there with you. But it was such a good reading year I’m not even mad about it 😊
What a great reading year! This was a great way to see how the year went

Did you finish the Golem and the Jinni? I am interested in your thoughts. Thanks!
Happy New Year! 🎉
Wow mega - maybe recap the great books at the end
might have to pick shady hollow 🤔
You didn’t have to many low rated books on this list so that’s good for you!!

Maggie O Farrells newest book is just as wonderful in my opinion 😊

I had a similar experience. I really enjoyed ship of magic though!
Is the trauma dumping too much? I don’t want to be triggered by it😢
@@username4261 there was one part that was very triggering for me but I’m not sure that it’ll ruin the book for you. I read it a while ago also.

I probably would have added a "pretty entertaining" tier.
