Not going to lie, I got excited for the longer video! 😂 And even though it affected your reading time, I’m glad you made this channel. I hope you and the wifey have an awesome New Year!

Thank you so much! I always worry that no one is going to want to click on a 30+ minute video, so you saying that is very encouraging! I really appreciate having you as part of this little bookish community! 😁 Happy New Year!

I agreed with a lot of your rankings. Ove, book thief, nightingale, and to kill a mockingbird are all fantastic! I picked tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow as my book of the month pick for that month but haven't gotten around to it but now that it's won all these awards and everyone's raving I think I better hurry it up!
I got to disagree with you about handmaid's tale but felt totally the same about the silent patient and the midnight library. I really liked how respectful you were in your dislike of these books in your "worst" books of the year video.
Of the 105 books I read this year, 13 were 5 star and only 3 were 1 star so I figure that's pretty good. Congrats on getting the channel up and going this year. I only found you a few days ago but it really enjoyed watching your videos.

Really cool video! Just finished nursing school, so I finally have more time to read!..I saw a UA-camr mention they read one "challenging/iconic" book a year as a way to force themselves to read some of these behemoths (Infinite Jest, Moby Dick, War and Peace, Don Quixote, etc)--without overwhelming themselves. They've read like 10 important books through the years....so I think I'll do the same...because there are a ton of these on my shelf! Great video, and 63 is wildly impressive!

Thank you so much! 😁 And congratulations on completing nursing school! How exciting! Best of luck to you moving forward!
That’s a fantastic idea! I think I will incorporate that into my reading plans moving forward! There are so many classics out there, but trying to read too many too fast can definitely be overwhelming.

I’m a very new reader that bought a Kindle Signature Edition based off your recommendation - and I’ve been trying to dive into more books and find out what I like! I think I’m going to read Tomorrow x3.

Oh and based on your top rated this year you might like The Matchmaker's Gift. It was one of my top ones this year and I felt like it had a similar vibe to Ove with a good historical background.

I read 8 of the books you did. The only one I would have ranked different was the Outlander and to be honest, I'm not sure if it's because I so thoroughly enjoyed that particular book or because I have read all of the series and know how good the whole story is. She has definitely done her research and has a lot of insight into the history of her story. Love your channel. 😊👍🐾

Hey, could you ad the list of the books somewhere? I'm looking for some refs to read in English and your list can be a good start :) and how do you choose the new ones?
I'm a teacher and got a Kindle scribe for Christmas from my bf (I have an old kindle I bought second hand a few years ago, my best investment!) and I got him an Oasis to read mangas, we're thrilled haha

Have you read the Martian by Andy weir? One of the best audiobooks I’ve ever listened to. If you haven’t you should do the audiobook. It’s very good if you like Andy weir. It made me laugh. And although the movie is good the book is definitely better.

    • @dylancanread

I haven’t read The Martian yet! It’s been on my shelf for a while but I just haven’t picked it up yet. I do have a couple Audible credits burning a hole in my pocket so I think I will give the audiobook a listen! Thanks so much for the recommendation! 😁

I was reading the Martian and.my son did not understand how a book about a man stranded alone on Mars had me laughing out loud. The premise is terrifying but Andy Weir is funny!

Communism wasn’t as much of a boogeyman in the late 20s-30s. And capitalism has crashed and burned resulting in the Great Depression, so people were looking for an alternative; communism in theory is an excellent system. In practice it fails because too many leaders see it as a way to enrich themselves at the expense of others (which to be fair is also the problem with capitalism). Basically, humans suck especially ones who want to go into politics because that sort of attention-seeking person (parasite?) tends to act in their own best interest rather than the best interest of the public.
Ironic that those who go into politics are the personalities we should keep out of politics (in general, that is. There are some with hearts in the right place and some of them build long lasting programs that benefit the public rather than themselves and their cronies).
I have the Einstein biography in hard back. Haven’t read it yet though. I heard it was good.

Very well said! It’s sad, but you’re absolutely right. You have to respect the few good-hearted individuals in politics.
I knew next to nothing about Einstein when I picked up Isaacson’s biography so it was very interesting to me! If you choose to read it, I think you would enjoy it!
