Controlling our sexual urges predates organized religion by a long way. In fact I would say that was a key factor in the development of civilization. Having said that I would have liked to hear what he said about why Catholic priests became celibate because I don't think that celibacy should be a job requirement.

I dont think Religion, (church) is saying the most natural thing is bad. However, its saying behaviors, are bad. Therefore, the organizations had to set rules. Make sense. Look at how some people behavior with their sexuality, in society.
There is no "we". Before the European invasion of my country, my people had strict rules about sexuality. They had no organized religion. So your point is moot. Stop blaming religion for what is common sense
