Hello American here! I love my ‘16 500e and I primarily charge at home using the AC j-1772. Unfortunately, I can’t use any DC fast charging but I do see DC/CCS becoming the standard in the US. Great video from an underrated EV channel
Does IONIQ 5 come with inductive charging that may initially not be enabled but could be enabled as the hardware in the field is deployed? And if so which markets did they release that in? I could see connector gauge and wire gauge changes necessitated by greater charge rates leading to different types of plugs for standards that need to supply in some cases greater amount of current. I could also see how some countries regulatory agencies have different requirements. Very interesting topic and very well covered!
Hi Gary. Haven't heard about inductive charging on the IONIQ5, but that would be very interesting. Thanks for the feedback! It was a very interesting video to research!
Nice whirlwind video on the basics for charging connectors. Perhaps you ought to remind charging virgins that they can also rewind the video to catch any point they missed. What's the best connector? I wish we had it in Europe. The Tesla connector, of course. It is super neat and versatile, and is only a software [so they say] upgrade away from being b-directional. Myself, I think there needs to be a few internal hardware upgrades inside the car, but the connector will do the job. The CCS is a good second, imo. Factoid: Did you know that the original Tesla Roadster was capable of V2G? Tesla dropped it because no customer showed interest. [sigh]
Didn't know that about the Tesla, fascinating! Also, good point about rewinding, suppose it was something we took for granted! Thanks for the comment and for watching Andy!
