Check out this tutorial, where I break down an insane Gerald Albright altissimo lick. In this lick he uses a lot of modern saxophone techniques, including overtones & altissimo. As written, this lick is VERY difficult, but in the video, I give you some tips on how to incorporate it into your solos at an intermediate level. Be sure to download the free PDF!
If you have suggestions for other breakdowns or topics for videos, please leave me a comment.

Thanks for this lick Scott! I am a Gerald Albright fan as well and his altissimo is wicked!
It's crazy how clean he is!!
Hot lick! Gerald really swings that lick! I am not fluent enough in the altissimo notes, so it is cool to be able to play those an octave lower.
Yeah, it still sounds great in the lower octave.
thanks appreciated - Love your video and Thialand
Nice
Dankeschön!!!❤❤❤
Thank you, Scott!❤️💯
👍👍👍
Thank you for breaking that down.
👍👍
thanks for information sir 🌜🙏🙏🙏🎻🎻🎻🎻
😁😁😁
Thanks a lot Scott. Another half year of rehearsing is guaranteed!🎷😅
Yeah, that's a tough one! But down an octave is much easier.
Outstanding, but I’m not hardly ready for that! I think Gerald is by far the best Modern Day Altissimo Player!!!
He's got some serious chops up there, and he doesn't miss that often! Super consistent.
Kenny Garrett licks please 😊
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Wow Scott thanks I'll get to practicing it ❤️🔥🔥🥰. I'm sure you been asked this probly A lot but what alto sax do you use on this video I love that vintage look???
Hey! It' a P. Mauriat 67RX it's about 9 years old. It has a flat dear dark lacquer finish on it, which makes it look a bit older than it is.
Hi, Eros came to Portugal 🇵🇹 and you are in Thailand ????????
Hey Bruno! I'd love to be playing with Eros in Portugal (and all over Europe) but he hired an Italian band for this tour.
scott ?.. battle of the GOAT
kirk whalum vs gerald albright
solo vs solo who winning?
It's not a competition! They're both killing. My style leans towards Gerald a bit more, but Kirk is a monster too!
🍷🍷🎷🤙😘
😀😀
I dont know how to read staff notations
Hey Jugu, you could learn in about a week! I have a course in my Beginner Pathway in my Sax School. You could easily work through it pretty quickly, and then you would know how to read music! www.scottpaddocksaxschool.com
Next time it would be informative if you stand up and show your fingers as you're playing. Just a suggestion... Cool explanation of the notation, too! 8va all the way, we aren't flute or violin players!
Hey Bob, yeah, I don't have my home setup, so I was using a tall vase as a music stand 🥴😂🤣 so I had limited camera angles to record the video, but I actually did a "youtube shorts" version of this video where you can only see my hands. It will go up next week.
