thank you kind sir... best tutorial I've seen you actually explain what you're doing properly lol. from a neuro addict who's just got a mac with logic :) much love from norfolk
Reese bass is actually made by taking 3-4 oscillators as saw waves and detuning them to different amounts which causes them to phase. Then you put a lowpass filter on it to focus on the lows and mids, and set it to legato and widen with a chorus to make it sound full. Also adding a bit of distortion and modulation is generally what tops it off. The sound you made is pretty cool, but is not a reese bass. The only thing making it sound like it is the wobble noise, which in reese bass is supposed to be more random and from phasing. The original creator of the reese bass and also some pioneers of edm that frequently use them, such as SKisM, KOAN Sound, and Noisia, have all stated what I have said in various interviews done either through video, or in the form of an article. Like I said, cool sound, but NOT a reese bass.
Thanks Tobias, already knew about the automation clips. And i found that the love philter has a low pass preset! And also used ohmicide for distortion, goddamn.Oh and did you know you can LFO anything? At 3xosc i clicked on INS and it has a lfo.just turn on tb and global and amt and play with the speed.
Tobias Sigel Not just with 3xosc..you can do it with anything, even a sample.I tried to learn Ableton.Even took a course once, making beats in Ableton.Yeah i dig Massive, tough i can't save any sounds cause its not a legit version(ssssh!) But automation are the way to go indeed.Just in Fl your patterns become so long, vertical, after a while and its hard to keep track.Guess im just lazy sometimes.Anyways nice talk
+Wesley Dobbie He detuned it using the unison in the voicing section; it's basically the same thing, it just adds more voices to the wave and detunes them, this is more flexible than layering saws and causing them to self-oscillate because you can just use 1 complex waveform.
YOU ARE AWESOME lot of thanks dude, i failed in my programming at 2 steps, but i was closer to that sound... that i was looking for ! :D u help me ;) ty mate
already have mate, thats what lead me here. My only problem is that in the email i received there was a link that was supposed to teach me about wavetable synthesis and at the minute the link doesn't work!
Hello, do you know if there is a kind of LE edition of massive, because im still going to school and dont have the money to pay 200$ :( anyways nice tutorial ^^
Awesome! Make sure and check out the other parts to this series. Make sure and sign up to our weekly email - we send out one of these videos a week (different genre each month).
This is due to Envelope 1 which you put on the pitch of the oscillators. Remove the envelope from the pitches of the oscillators and you will have fixed it.
Nightcore Angel I've tried to press "editor thumbnail" and choose some stuff there and edit the waves lol doesn't work :/ i tried to use deep voice to high voice notes it works somehow but its not the right way to do it.. it doesn't sound that good! Please someone help
also man, I keep making bass's in massive for the current track I'm working on but every time i leave it and go back to the project (even after saving) it goes back to the original preset sound and its really grinding my gears haha what am i doing wrong?
+Ex0rz You can save the preset and open it back up, it just won't be under the browser tab. Hit file next to the sound title, then open sound. I've seen that work for the pirated version.
Zachary Ray I know but i have to insert massive again cause it doesnt allow me to open the preset in the plugin that it loads to the project file. Also sometimes when i load up massive the whole DAW crashes which is annoying. But i actually bought massive last week due to the -50% sale. Its still fucked up tho since i havent managed to do a clean install. Should figure out how to get 100% rid of massive from my PC and then do a clean reinstall using the legal version.

these tutorials would be more useful if you explained *why* you choose these settings.. still, thank you for the tutorials.

Tried it,,now i have a question..how do i find something i can use as a modulator?
I used 3xOsc..turned out pretty reesy..but now?
Thanks Tobias, already knew about the automation clips. And i found that the love philter has a low pass preset! And also used ohmicide for distortion, goddamn.Oh and did you know you can LFO anything? Too bad that's there not a fx plugin that does all that in once

Another great tutorial. Its so hard to find a bassline tutorial on youtube which is this delicious
Great tutorial, easy to follow unlike most. Good work
very cool sound, it took a lot to find this!
Nice bass patch here sounds nice and sick took it and put in trash and the result was MASSIVE.... big ups on the tut bro...
Brilliant tutorial
Sounds like a beat box low bass, that is just craazzzyyyy! Love it! :)
Learning so much from this! Feeling i no longer have to rely on presets!
Great tutorial, it was nice and easy to follow.
YOU
ARE
AWESOME
lot of thanks dude, i failed in my programming at 2 steps, but i was closer to that sound... that i was looking for ! :D u help me ;) ty mate
Killer sound man, thanks!
already have mate, thats what lead me here. My only problem is that in the email i received there was a link that was supposed to teach me about wavetable synthesis and at the minute the link doesn't work!
great sound. a little change here and there and it'll perfectly fit into my current production :)
Shizzle! Nasty reese! Lovin it. Reminds me of some Renegade Hardware.
These are class mate, great stuff!
The only thing that isn't reese-y is the fact that its "warble" doesn't change with the pitch. Like, the higher the note, the faster the warble.
Is there a way of losing the percussive hit on the first note in Legato mode to get a soft attack on the first note as notes that follow?
nice tut
very helpful and clear thank you man!! i have made a couple songs now i can make proper neuro now cheers..
Hello, do you know if there is a kind of LE edition of massive, because im still going to school and dont have the money to pay 200$ :(

Nice massive patch but non of the links work.
good tutorial.. but i am getting a kick sort of sound every time a note starts, i have tried all the attacks but still happens. any ideas please?
Have you fixed this?
This is due to Envelope 1 which you put on the pitch of the oscillators. Remove the envelope from the pitches of the oscillators and you will have fixed it.
VERY NICE THANKS !
Awesome, thanks for sharing :)
great video thanks very much !!!!!
Hey appreciate the tutorial! q: can we use the sound/modulate it for our tracks?
Awesome, thx!
Really nice, but how do i stop the sound when a new note starts? like it makes noisy sound every time it hits note :/
Nightcore Angel I've tried to press "editor thumbnail" and choose some stuff there and edit the waves lol doesn't work :/ i tried to use deep voice to high voice notes it works somehow but its not the right way to do it.. it doesn't sound that good! Please someone help
Nightcore Angel I can put explain in soundcloud if u don't understand, but please respond and i'll do it

+Joe Gardiner pretty sure you need to save the preset
+Joe Gardiner I had the same issue and i guess its related to the pirated version of massive.
+Ex0rz You can save the preset and open it back up, it just won't be under the browser tab. Hit file next to the sound title, then open sound. I've seen that work for the pirated version.

Doesn't work? Please message me the link.
thanx a bunch

Super thanks

Would be better to have it appregiated in my opinion, should give it a try and put it in a new vid, nice one btw!
So I can make my own synth, when using Massive.
he initialised the preset... that's how it appeared
tnx :D
quality
The higher you go, the more it sounds like a Spag Heddy bass xD
your voice is hot so is the reese bass
Sorry - that was a server issue. Should work now.
''hoa thare'' hahaha
