tutorials of late (I've seen about 8 last couple of days), have really stepped up. Haven't watched your tuts for a good year or more - they were a lot more basic back then. The diversity and detail now is awesome. Well done!
Awesome explanation of the various features of Massive, it's great that you took the time to explain what different things do. I never knew what differentiated a low pass 2 vs. low pass 4, or exactly what a hardclipper and sine shaper did. I learned more about Massive in this tutorial than I have in hours of others. Thanks!
Thanks man, learned a whole bunch of stuff from this tutorial. I'm glad you explained what all of the knobs and slider names are short for and their meanings. TECH
I already somewhat understood multiple parts of this through trial and error but the way you explained everything was top notch! I have a whole new understanding of what I'm actually doing in Massive, now there won't be as much dumb luck involved haha!
This was great, ive been trying for a while to figure out how to bring out harmonics like that. thanks alot. taking a dubspot course or two is definitely on my bucket list.
Outstanding tutorial Evan and how generous of Dub Spot to post here!

My Kpmplet 8 is on the way and I can't wait to grab that Massive serial inside the box so that i can save my presets. Man, your tutorial make me check the UPS tracking number every 10 minutes. i Just can't wait. Great tutorial, perfect trainer voice......Ohhh, the hell with the save function i'm doing it right now
lol the intro is dope. you're a goofball :) great tutorial. I've been kinda struggling with massive since getting it free with maschine 1.8 this helps a lot
Any tutorials (now or in the works) that explain all the terminology you commonly use in these videos? Side chain compression, filter movement, lo pass 4 filter, 2 pol filter, add an envelope to modulate the cut off etc. It's uncrackable without that foundation first.
great tutorial.. one question and this has been talked about a few times actually in different forums but I would like your input on how the plugin Massive, on the unisono part when I mess around with my patch i usually have more than one voice and I noticed that the low end volume of my sound never stays consistent, it will fluctuate a lot. Whats your take to fix this besides layering? Thanks
The EDM language is no different than any other study, I found this the hard way and have wasted 2 years trying to learn these terms on my own. But I has smartened up and am taking the fundamentals class. See where it takes me.
I can't seem to get a sound to go from Mono to adding polyphony. Also adding Protamento is hard to find also in massive. Can you suggest something? Thank you.
it depends on what you want to achieve, for a smooth sound use a sine wave. for a nasty grinding sound use a square wave etc. look at the waveforms, they explain how it sounds, the sine wave is smooth, the square wave is jagged. look up basic synthesis tutorials here on YT
Thank you that was all i wanted to know. I listen to a lot of dnb neurofunk and a lot of those producers have a gritty sound that I try to replicate with my own touch but as I didn't know where to begin I would spend a lot of time trying to find a suitable wave sound. With your simple explanation you have saved me hours of playing around with sounds that will not help me achieve the desired sound. Thank you and that was all i wanted to know and if you ever decide to make a tutorial on how to create different bass sounds with an explanation on which wavetables would be best suited please let me know as I can't seem to find a tutorial anyway. Thank again
Man I know what you mean. Some people intuitively know what to expect, and this knowledge makes it look like next level stuff when they put it in practice. If you have years of sound design behind you obviously you will know what certain modifications will do and also what some of the waveforms sound like...
Small critique: When you speak over whatever track you're playing, you raise your voice significantly. Headphone users get to be taken by surprise, and it's not fun to play the "Up... okay now I can he....holy shit okay down... shit, what'd he just say? I missed it."
How he suddenly screams at you, when the music is playing. Hilarious. Great tutorial, indeed one of the few that is more than just a dude saying where he turned his faders to. I don´t see why you would call that a Bass sound, but nevermind. The screaming alone is worth it.
+housebrigade Judging by the comments... people are taking the piss mate :) sarcasm is a wonderful thing. The actual video is on point but the intro is way too long. Bit like one of them ads you cant skip
probably the best intro to a video in the whole of multiverses
I thought it was 42 seconds too long
Go check out SeamlessR :D
Finally someone who really knows what he is talking about ! :)
One of the best tutorials I have ever seen. Thanks.

wow, man, what a great intro, i wish it was longer!

Really informative video.. 2 thumbs up. It opened so many directions in massive for me!! I wish I lived in NYC..
I already somewhat understood multiple parts of this through trial and error but the way you explained everything was top notch! I have a whole new understanding of what I'm actually doing in Massive, now there won't be as much dumb luck involved haha!
Finally a synth tutorial where I learn what's going on instead of simply learning how to do it!
Best I've seen since the one Native Instruments linked to on their own Massive page. Thanks man!

I can't seem to get a sound to go from Mono to adding polyphony. Also adding Protamento is hard to find also in massive. Can you suggest something? Thank you.

very cool
figured it out. how is your oscillator filter 1 not turned on but still effecting the sound ? u a wizard bra?
This tutorial is fucking amazing, thank you so much. This bass is so bad ass.
How do you know which wavetables to choose? Could you try to help me understand please as I spend most of my time in massive not getting anywhere
use your ears?
Ok very helpful. But what is it I am listening for?

Haha, best intro!

Why can't I find anywhere to buy "Massive" from? i keep getting Komplete 9 in the results
hey does massive work as a virtual instrument inside a host daw, or standalone?
this and that
both
watch 15 minute video, then decide to sample it
lol
Best intro ever ha ha
It's from my new EP, Utility Food, out now on Space is the Place Records.
i'm Astrolith on soundcloud
I know what you mean but there isn't always a kick at the start of each bass note.
How do make a sound from like cashing out AFK and protohype remix?
Small critique:

scheiss intro mit seinem eingebildeten Blick
You certainly think alot of yourself with your intro *skips it to start of actual tutorial*
don't watch it then. simple as.
+housebrigade Just making a point that you might turn people off with lengthy intros like that.
judging by the comments alot of people find it cool, including me
+housebrigade Judging by the comments... people are taking the piss mate :) sarcasm is a wonderful thing. The actual video is on point but the intro is way too long. Bit like one of them ads you cant skip
+Sparki Dee those of us who can pay attention for longer than 5 minutes dont seem to mind.
