The importance of "mini-builds", poly bags, foil packs, etc cannot be overstated. They go a long way to compliment larger builds and make a play or display space more populated. It's always nice to see them appreciated/acknowledged.
I quite agree! I didn't always feel that way, but the more I dive into Retro LEGO, the more they stand out to me as integral parts of their respective themes.
Not only that. These little sets are the ones our granny could afford to get us for Christmas. If only I could show her the collection I own now, thanks to her kindness that sparked interest and play for a lifetime.
This is why I recently made a point of acquiring the 'Space Mini Figures' versions with unique accessories for my M:Tron collection. There's a certain feeling one gets from populating a collection fully with figures/accessories and add-ons exclusively from the original run.
I found your channel earlier this year and you have rejuvenated my love for Lego that I had when I was a little kid in the early 2000s. My brother in law got me the original TIE Bomber from 2003, one that I had always wanted as a kid, for my birthday a week ago. Thanks for bringing the joy back to me!
I’m very much looking forward watching the dedication episode of native American sub theme. I ’m very much looking forward to seeing the creation of a western diarama from yourself in the future. Really enjoyed watching you build the Bandit's Wheelgun. I bet you had fun building it too.
Great video as always! I don't buy classic Lego sets new often but it's always special to open an old set for the first time. Congrats on the new sets and looking forward to the next video!
Love the video. I've come to realise lately that small (250-ish piece) sets are by far my favourite. Polybags are a little on the small side but when they make an entire scene like this I love them. I wish we would see some smaller retro-inspired sets from Lego. Most of them are way too big for my shelves and my wallet.
I remember getting that on my birthday from my grandma, one of my first LEGO sets. It was boxed version, and i thought the cowboy hat was Black after all those years. I need to organize some space and get my old LEGO from my parents home and check that out. Great video as always!
@keltondavisLEGO maybe it was Brown all along, but I had some chineese knock-offs with some weird colors, for example red halberds and bows, so it might came from one of those. 20+ years makes such details difficult to remember exactly :).
Man...kinda want to get back into this theme....I remember having the covered wagon & the sheriff's place with the jail I think, at least. I wanna reacquire some of these sets & some I didn't have, when I was a kid. Now 37, this makes me feel old. Lol
The Covered Wagon has a super secret compartment on the back. This set is brilliant, I had 3 of these as a kid and would make a caravan out of them! I'm not sure if the hidden compartment is intended (it seems like it!), it could be just dead space left by how the model is built, but still I've always appreciated these (there's also one in the roof of the 6074: Black Falcon's Fortress set for example, where I'd hide all my LEGO chrome gold coins).
@keltondavisLEGO I wish I could do it but they are a bit expensive and I can afford it because the ebay Resellers They want a lot of bills for a set but i wish!
Since the Bandits Wheelgun was the last western set I needed, I bought it piece by piece on Bricklink. That polybag packaging does look nice, I had never seen it before
I’ve been doing the same thing lately. I grew up with Spyrius, Ice Planet, Aquazone, and Exploriens. I’ve been buying some new sets from each of those themes off of ebay to get that feeling of opening the box and building it for the first time. It adds up, but it feels like something I need to do lol.
I had Legoredo as a kid. Such an amazing set, especially for a kid that loved Lego. It's really sad that they've stopped making Western sets, my Legoredo is most likely lost in multiple bins. I'd love for the theme to return or atleast a rebricked version of Legoredo, like they did Fort Eldorado!
Huge Western fan here, recently I menaged to get Boulder Cliff Canyon in pristine condition for xmas, funny now I have all the big sets but missing few small ones.
Bandit's wheelgun was the only Western set I bought. I wish I had gotten more cowboy sets, but I got a couple of the Native American minifigs at a garage sale.
I Never was a "Western Fan" at all. Didn't do anything for me and I thought it " too yesteryear and old fashioned". ( No one asked or cares - I get it) BUT - I will give KUDOS to the Brick Link Western set - very nice build details and really cool build techniques for representations. - In and of itself the Western themed Lego sets must be awesome for those into that style.
You know when I was in about 5th grade I had every single one, I mean every single one of the cowboy sets I wasn't missing one, I had the bank I had the fort i had everything. Now I'm 40 and I have no idea what happened to it.
@keltondavisLEGO also I had every single one of the original samurai and ninja sets, every last one down to the castle and everything and I have no idea what happened to them.
@@keltondavisLEGO I'd be okay with color adjustments but the original pieces and build designs are just too classic IMO, the modern stuff is just so hit-or-miss
Well if I could collect all the indians, not the smaller ones, but all the big ones from ebay in couple months, still haven't build them what a shame, then I'm sure you do just fine to get them. If you have enough money. I was lucky to find the full sets no missing figs or stuff. And glad I did it before you started to hunt them, because I would have lost them to you. Happy hunting!
I really wish Lego would do more western. I feel like it's a set, espically for us adults. I the brick link design, but since they are so limited it is hard. Just curious, what are you feeling about Fun Whole? At the very least, I appericate competition at least. Also, I've been doing the oppisote, getting all the mini figures and cmfs I can.
I’ve seen some of the steam punk sets from Funwhole in person. I think they’re very impressive! However, I just can’t seem to mentally embrace a different brand.
@keltondavisLEGO i been having the same hurdle, part of me is like though... this brand making western for cheaper and at one point you didn't know lego. It was just a toy... the very least lego needs some competition
Great time to be a western fan? Don't think so I love the simplicity of old sets. These new sets look all fancy and stuff but if they were made more simple like in the olden days, they'd be at least affordable.
I love having both options! I will say, when you plug 90s LEGO prices into an inflation calculator, it becomes clear that LEGO has never been particularly affordable. I do hear your point, though. It would be nice to get some more retro style, simplistic, and affordable new sets as well.
@@keltondavisLEGO Yes, thank you for your reply. I keep seeing more and more channels popping using AI voice over, and it's just comforting to know that it's a real person behind the mic.
Be prepared, the remaining 2 western Lego sets and the Indian sets are $$$$!! I know, I just bought 6 western sets in December and I don’t dare start on the Indian sets!!!

When two excellent Lego retro youtubers collide!

I’m glad you opened the set! Lego is a toy, it’s meant to be build and played with, not just put on a shelf
For me, the joy of getting a sealed set is being able to be the one to open it! I agree 100%
Correct. Toy Story 2 taught us that.
I've been loving your videos. So many memories.
Thank you! It's my way of reliving those great days!

That’s the whole mission of this channel! I’m so glad it’s being realized.
That old booklet and minifigure just hit different.
Hit me right in the childhood!
@@keltondavisLEGOquality lol 😂
Really hoping one day Lego revamps this theme, the older sets are still amazing
They hold up! Absolutely love them.

I'm excited as well! Just keeping on the lookout for good deals.
I swear your videos make me feel so nostalgic... keep on the good work man 👌
Mission accomplished!
@keltondavisLEGO You should do a video ranking the first wave of Lego city sets (not as retro but still) 🙃
I remember owning that polybag. Such a fun little set, and the multiple rifles was great to get.
Not to mention an exclusive mining and the fairly rare "KEEP OUT" 1x4 tile.
Great video as always! I don't buy classic Lego sets new often but it's always special to open an old set for the first time. Congrats on the new sets and looking forward to the next video!
It's one of the only sealed ones I could afford. LOL.
How did i find this gem of a channel so late? Very high tier editing and scripting.
Thank you so much! Lots more coming in the new year!
I love opening MISBs and coming back to good old days :)
An amazing feeling!
A great little set from my birth year!
Awesome! 👏

I think I may just agree with that! I often find more joy in an old, medium sized set than many of the mega-huge brand new ones.

I don’t believe they ever made a black cowboy hat with that mold, but I could be wrong!

This 34 year-old is feeling old right along with ya! Haha.
The Covered Wagon has a super secret compartment on the back.

It seems like just about every set of that era has a little surprise somewhere. Play was the priority.
Woah thats very awesome The oldest set I've ever bought is ultimate aaron from 2016 But I wish I had the honor and opened such an old set!
Then I suggest a Polybag! Maybe an MTron one?
@keltondavisLEGO I wish I could do it but they are a bit expensive and I can afford it because the ebay Resellers They want a lot of bills for a set but i wish!
"Black Bart" is certainly the baddest of all the bad guys from western.
He’s definitely a contender! Though I’d say ol’ Flatfoot Thompson takes that title for me.
Since the Bandits Wheelgun was the last western set I needed, I bought it piece by piece on Bricklink. That polybag packaging does look nice, I had never seen it before
Congrats on a complete collection!
Time to turn the pool table into a wild west table :P
That is a tide that’s barely being held back 😂
That Bricklink set was probably worth a small fortune 😅
Not too terrible, but $170 ain’t nuthin to sneeze at.
@keltondavisLEGO Nice 😆

A new release of Legoredo in the spirit of that new El Dorado would be absolutely amazing!
I could never open any old toy. It made it that long and it presents well in the box.
Valid, but I love the experience of opening it for the first time. That’s where the value comes in for me.
Huge Western fan here, recently I menaged to get Boulder Cliff Canyon in pristine condition for xmas, funny now I have all the big sets but missing few small ones.
I’m gonna be chasing that one very soon!
I literally just bought 6791 to complete my western collection! I got it off EBay too (12/10/24) for $30.48! I now have all 9 sets!
Woohooo!
Bandit's wheelgun was the only Western set I bought. I wish I had gotten more cowboy sets, but I got a couple of the Native American minifigs at a garage sale.
It's small, but mighty! Native American sets are next on my list.

As one who grew up with the original sets, they’re perfect to me. But that Bricklink set absolutely slays as well!

@keltondavisLEGO also I had every single one of the original samurai and ninja sets, every last one down to the castle and everything and I have no idea what happened to them.
Can you imagine how much money LEGO could make if they would reprint classic theme sets like this
The only issue they'd run into would be old colors and molds. Perhaps refreshed versions like the recent El Dorado remake would be a good compromise.
@@keltondavisLEGO I'd be okay with color adjustments but the original pieces and build designs are just too classic IMO, the modern stuff is just so hit-or-miss
