@MyName Here It's possible to edit core engine assets, and that can cause issues down the line. That's why it's a good idea to make copies of those core assets, and reference the copies that you edit, rather than changing the originals. This can have a cascading effect on (likely tons) of other assets that reference the originals.

The one thing that missing is wet sand... I already doing a beach scene long time ago, but still stuck with the wet sand... Can you make a tutor?... When the waves hit sand and makes the sand looks wet at certain period of times...
In 4.27... for some reason, when I drop the water body in (in this case, lake) all I get are splines. No water. I've ensured materials are added but still nothing. Help?

hi im having an issue where the water isn't affecting my landscape at all, im dragging the river actors until place and moving the splines where i want them but it just doesnt do anything
I'm doing this in 4.27. When i drag in the water body ocean, the yellow line is extremely jagged and the edge of the water doesn't actually lap onto the landscape. It's like there's an invisible barrier that prevents the water from touching the landscape and I can actually see the edge of the slope, separate from the water. I've changed the falloff settings but nothing seems to work.
@@zangreiner1048 yes...but I'm not fully sure why it happened. In the terrain section of the details for the water body, there's an Elevation Curve section with a picture of a curve and a dropdown menu. In that menu I had a couple preset options, including FogBrightnessLut, none of which fixed the issue. When I duplicated the level to try starting over with the water body, that dropdown had way more options and the FloatCurve_Island preset worked for me (although as i look into the dropdown right now, I again only see the FogBrightnessLut as an option, if I wanted to change the curve preset). Do you already have that Island curve preset selected? I have no idea why I'm only able to see it sometimes
which build do you have? on my build it doesn't look at this AT ALL. the underwater mesh is like 1 meter deep only, and the river cannot rise above sea level.
I was using Preview 3 in this version. Interesting differences you mentioned - noticed some issues depending on the Z values I had for the landscape and water systems. I found if I set the landscape and ocean to 100 on the Z that I got more predictable results. I'd keen to know how you go
If i make my Scene excatly like yours and i make a Lake too, then if i put the "BP_Buoyancy" in this Lake, there is no Buoyancy like in the Ocean! Is there any Solution for this problem?
My landscape doesn't get clipped/Doesn't have its contours changed when I add the ocean body. My landscape has `Enable edit layers`, I have both plugins enabled and I am running my project on UE 4.26.1. any ideas on why this may be happening?
Build all levels, you should get an error like "this water brush requires a landscape refrence" or so. You could find out how to add it, or remove the water thing and readd it until it works. Thats what i did so unfourtently i can only maybe point at the problem you got.

@@SnapLaunch wow, thank you! Btw, afaik this is an upscaling method that produces really high quality images, so the point of it is to use a lower input resolution to produce higher output resolution results (kind of like DLSS but algorithm based and not Machine-Learned)

However if you'd like to explore fluid sims - in engine, in the Content Browser, click the bottom right eye with 'view options', choose 'Show Plugin Content', then on the left, search for 'fluid' and under the 'Fluid Simulation' folder you'll find example levels relating to interaction and ripples
So this all works great, until I package, then the boats do what it does with one pontoon...Have you tried to package this after building? Maybe someone can verify that it works on their end for me?

I've had that happen a number of times and found the only to get it is to try recreating it. Sometimes I've gone into new levels and recreated it and then returned to the level I was originally working in and it works. Wish I had something more solid to offer. Hopefully this ocean will be more stable and predictable in future.

Well you could replace the water material with a custom shader, but it seems like you'd be missing out on a lot of the work done by EPIC. Is there something this water shader doesn't support that you're looking to achieve?

Hi, I'm busy currently but I would encourage you to keep trying :) I haven't explored the waves much beyond this example, however you may like to try using the Buoyancy component to float the boat and have the people as children of the boat. I'd be curious to know what solution you discover - good luck!
In my heightmap based landscape I have no way to use the lake or river if the ocean one is already in the scene, they just don't render. If I drop the lake first then when I add the ocean it sculpt the landscape in something unusable. It sucks the lack of documentation, I understand this is experimental but Epic doesn't give a fuck about developers.

Hi just to let you know I solved the problem. I unloaded the plugin then re installed it and the shallow water one and now it's fine. On a side note do you have or know of a tutorial for chopping down trees or mining rocks so you can collect them.

This plugin just don't work well in my projects. I see a lot of artifacts, sometimes materials don't compile, falloff settings just literaly do nothing. I am very disapointed :(
Careful advising people to edit default assets, versus making a copy and working with those (materials, for example). Apart from that, good stuff!

The lack of waves reaching the sand(shore line) is a problem to me. I would love to see something more like... Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

You can use the Water Body Custom and scale it up. That doesn't affect landscape at all.

Any idea why I don't see the water preview in the viewport when editing? I see it fine when I play the game in the editor.

Why is my water so dark compaerd to yours?
I'm not sure - do you have a sunlight as well? Also, perhaps creating a material instance of the water and then adjusting it's parameters might help.

Sorry, but ocean water was in Nvidia Waveworks, and Ocean Community. This is plastic water, very good for DirectX 9, not DirectX 12.
