I’m absolutely amazed that in 1988, the banks didn’t check with the publisher. They just looked at a letter and gave her $25,000.
In 1988 the banks were using computers. But, all they needed was a telephonic device - aka, a telephone, and call flipping Double Day Books/Publishing.

well either way it was a loan, technically banks can afford to loan to literally everyone who walks in the door since they profit off it, but I'm sure lazy human error happens all the time today as well.

Only 2 scenarios count for justifiable homicide for me : 1 You're in the military and are in enemy turf and it's either them or you or 2 Self-defense of any kind and even in self defense scenarios you shouldn't shoot to kill unless you have ABSOLUTELY NO other choice. Usually in a self defense situation you almost always have a chance not to actually kill the attacker. at least in my personal experience.

@@LotusStitchandSketch The war poet Wilfred Owen, wrote how war is a great failure of imagination (ie we failed to collectively come up with a better solution). He also said peace at any price, which only works if both sides are committed to peace. Wilfred Owen died as a young man and a serving soldier eleven days before the end of the first world war. His poetry is haunting and beautiful. I think you make good points in your comment.

In Denmark they payed out insurances in the victims names, to their killer-who is in jail for the murder- until 1 year ago, when the Danish people got knowledge about it via newspapers... Grotesque! It´s so sad when you get killed over greed, and even blood is thinner than a hundred doller bill:(

Umm hate to tell you this Mr. Detective, indeed an abusive man can just target 1 person for abuse, and then because the child reminds them of the abused person who left, they then will target that person... I've lived that. So yes, an abusive father can be just abusive to the woman, and not the kids. In fact I know women who have had abusive spouses who adored their children and would never lay a hand on them nevermind even correct them...that may not been the way of this case, but it does work that way too. Abuse goes down the line, when the original abused person leaves, it then falls on the ones left, and so on.... and sometimes abusive people will take it out on the ones there to hurt the one that left.... 😐

I'm confused- if the teenager, Nick, was only under the assumption that his life insurance policy was made to have the sole beneficiary as Marcus, then how is it that Marcus WAS the sole beneficiary??? 🤔🤔🤔🤷‍♀️

He was probably told by Nick that it was a done deal, as the insurance person felt that Nick didn't realize it was not completed. Although the paperwork was not correct, he wanted the money so bad, he killed the boy and then was in the process of filing. It probably would not have gone through as the paperwork was incorrect but he was found before he took it to the insurance company.

Also, not all women are as you say, just as not all men are bad, either.
I was referring to crime and sentencing; how women get off easier than men do when they deserve as harsh a sentence for committing a crime alongside the man. For the same case. All cases are different.

If the reverend hadn’t mentioned that he had cleaned his garage and sprayed his lawn. Or, if he hadn’t done any of those things, or not thought to, or been able to tell the doctors, they might have never done the tests necessary to find the arsenic. Or they might have only done those tests when it was way too late.
He’s a very lucky unlucky guy.
This woman, she really freaks me out, she’s a very scary person imo.

Poor Raymond Reed. I’m glad that they got her.
Three husbands? Wow, what a bitch.
I was going to say that if it was the son, the chemist, he really got away with it. But if her first husband died too, the son would have been too young - at least I hope so. Imagine if it was her son all along, killed his father and then went on to become a chemical specialist. Just like that kid in England that poisoned people and family around him and then made notes about the effects he observed and the doses he’d given, started doing it as a little boy and kept poisoning people even after he was caught and went to prison.
(Hmmm, ha ha omg it could have been the son all along!!!)
