    Love how these turned out. Long time ago when my kids were little we did a faux leather with torn pieces of masking tape and shoe polish. We covered recycled containers. I like the gold accents you added with the Sharpie marker.

    This one looks more realistic than others I have made from other videos. I'm going to try your technique! Thanks!

    Great result. Thank you for such a thorough video of the process. I don't think my paper bags are as sturdy but l stashed away quite a bundle of thick sturdy packaging paper. I'm going to give that a go. And to think, no animal was hurt in the making of your leather. Love it!

    there certainly are some differing techniques. But most I have watched don't wet thoroughly but just damp en it and then add a layer of hair conditioner over before putting glue on. One even scraped over all the wrinkles with a credit card. Your end result is lovely.

    I have found that a roll of brown paper floor covering that you can find in the paint department works well, and comes in a large roll. A bit less fragile.

    Can't wait to see how you do yours, because yours looks best out of all I've watched so far. I've already sprayed mine with three different water, vegetable glycerin, paint/antique wax/coffee mixtures, dried them, and ran my distress ink pads over them in 3-4 varying colors on my test papers. But, want to stop and see what exactly you did!❤❤❤

      Still watching...Can't believe you took all that time to rip it up and reassemble it! I don't think I have that kind of patience for a large piece but that's kind of what I plan to do with my steam punk pumpkin in a few weeks! I've subscribed as you do very well at teaching and explaining things. What is your fave home decor style or style to craft in such as vintage, shabby chic, steam punk, farmhouse, etc? Thank you for responding so quickly before I finished the video ❤

      I have a friend who did a floor like this. It is gorgeous. She did polyurethane it with several coats for protection and it held up very well.

    Can you tell me what the little colouring blocks are and where do you buy them .thank you and great video

      They are from Tim Holtz mini distress inks. They came in a pack of 6, I think. I either got them at Hobby Lobby or Amazon. Sorry, I can't remember which one for sure but am leaning towards Hobby Lobby.

    Thank you for your demo!!
    Just curious if you think maybe instead of immersing a second time in the sink, maybe you could just resatruate it by using a spray bottle. It seems that would allow the colors to really soak into the paper fibers feather than dripping off.
    Just a though.
    Terrific video

    Was the paper sack still wet/ damp when you started applying the inks or did you let it dry?

    Hi, I love your process! Could you do a design on the bag first? if so, would you do the design before wetting and wrinkling the paper? Would you use pencils, paints or markers? The idea is to make it look like patterned or printed leather. I would love to know your thoughts.

    • @LifePrepared
      @LifePrepared  Рік тому

      This is a great question. I didn't think of this myself so just a few thoughts but you will need to experiment a bit. If done before wetting the bag, I think you would need something permanent like sharpie markers or pen unless you wanted a more abstract design. If done after it dries, it would appear that it was stitched into the leather but you have paper that is not flat to work with. If you do try, please lmk how it works out for you!
