Me too...I'm 32yo, paid off house, finishing studies and those are paid off as well, a lot saved for retirement, no kids or husband (and I think that's why I'm well of lol)
You honestly could be a millionaire. If you invest 20,000 into the stock market every year at an average annual growth rate of 7% In 22 years you have over a million dollars
And In 30 years investing 20,000 a year at 7% you have over 2 million. 35 years and you're awfully close to 3 million. But It's actually better to do it on a monthly basis at 1667 instead of an annual basis at 20000 you'll get to a million in 21 years instead. And of course how much you make isn't going to stay at 40,000 a year forever. It should go up as time goes on too so you could start investing more than 1667 a month. And honestly the 7% isn't even the best you can do that's just the average. If you're active in the stock market and know what you're doing you can get higher returns than that. I gained 5% in the stock market just in the past month.

Not really. That implies there is a set amount of value in the world that can be harvested by humans. A good analogy would be if there was one mango tree in the world. Then there are only so many mangos to go around. But if more people showed up and planted more mango trees soon enough there could be more mangos than anyone could possibly eat. Only when the earth ran out of space for mango trees would the overpopulation of humans start to outweigh the space for mango trees. With ai and robotics and mega farming practices we as humans have 1000s more mango trees than we had a 100 years ago. These are from salty people who deny economic mobility and believe for someome to get rich someone else needs to get poor or it's a zero sum game so yeah..
@@siddharthverma1249 There's a difference between economic mobility and the idea that everyone can be rich, at least using the definition he seems to be using based on context. Specifically, someone that can have all their material desires met without the need to sell their labor. The issues here are: 1) If you try to make everyone rich you run out of resources. (This is why he talks about asteroid mining, automated nuclear power stations on the moon, and fucking Dyson spheres.) 2) If you try to make everyone rich you run out of labor, (This is why he talks about robots doing all the work.) 3) The time frame of 5 years is bonkers, maybe in 200 to 300 hundred years we can resolve problems 1 and 2. More likely he's off by a minimum of 1 order of magnitude and probably closer to 2. 4) He makes a massive assumption that everyone has the capability of becoming a programmer or engineer with complete disregard for research to the contrary. Wealth is relative. If everyone had the same amount of wealth it would take away the negotiating power of money, which is why the wealthy prefer to keep the poor down.
You're right, if everyone was "wealthy" the lower earners wouldn't be called wealthy. But, it IS possible for everyone to have enough money to be able to comfortably fulfill their basic needs and enjoy their life E.g. eat well, go on some holidays, buy nice clothes, drive a decent car, etc. And the wealthy simply engage in more luxury versions of the same things. There is no need for there to be poor people, not just relatively poor but actually struggling and having financial stresses. In Ancient Athens people were relatively wealthy and had lots of free time to pursue arts and pleasure. This was mainly because they had slaves to do all the menial jobs. When AI gets good enough, we can have robot slaves take the place of these human slaves and it will actually become possible to eliminate poverty. It will happen eventually, no doubt. Exciting times
@@queball685 in a rational system that was designed for the good of the people i would agree with you, but that is not where we find ourselves. @@pjkempen7413 i see your point. But I'm not talking about a world where we eliminate inequality. There will still be extremely wealthy people and considerably less wealthy people. I'm Mikey becoming finically independent needs that same drive. It’s just that once you hit FI, you take your energy and focus it elsewhere. Passions.
He didn’t mean the quality of chocolate.
Shit. I make between $40,000- $45,000 a year. My expenses are low and I’m single. I’m pretty financially independent. I’m not a millionaire but hey, I’ve got that peace and happiness.
Toni Capone what do you do if you don’t mind me asking?

@@pjkempen7413 i see your point. But I'm not talking about a world where we eliminate inequality. There will still be extremely wealthy people and considerably less wealthy people. But when AI robots drive down the price of goods, it will drive down the price for everyone, so we don't need humans desperate for money to work for cheap labour because these AI robots will provide even cheaper labour (otherwise they would never be replaced) but luxury goods will still cost more than normal goods. So although the equality gap may fall, the rich will still have much greater purchasing power than the non-rich

For many it seems (hardwired) happiness comes from the need to achieve, both materially and intellectually more than their neighbor, so therefore many will always feel poor and unhappy. Regardless of their material position.
Pretty sure poverty comes from those who don't feel a need to achieve, not the opposite. If you don't think actual poverty can make unambitious people feel poor and unhappy, you haven't experienced actual poverty.

About 30% of the US population has an IQ below 85. No way those people can code or design technology. They could close the gap, but they would need to rely on the other 70% to get them there.

I used to believe anyone could make it if they tried hard enough or had enough talent. I used to believe that putting in the work would get you somewhere. But after decades of doing everything I'm supposed to, doing all the things people say that lead to success, I realized it is complete and total bullshit. Being poor is a trap. A trap that sticks you to the floor that you cannot climb out of no matter how much you try. The fact is you need money to make money in this modern world. I never believed in luck. I would have told you luck is a construct for people who continue to fail. But now, after years and years of failure I am a firm believer in luck as a concept. Some people, no matter how much work they put in and no matter how skilled simply get the shit end of the stick. Luck is a real factor. Not everyone can become wealthy. Not everyone can be happy. Doing your best and giving it your all sometimes is simply not enough, and no matter what you do you will never accomplish your dreams. This man is 100% full of shit and has no idea of what he's speaking on. It is so easy to write a philosophy you never had to put into practice yourself. Perhaps that's the trick, lying to everyone.
work smarter not harder. you have access to the internet, no excuses.
noisyturtle I understand your frustration... when you say “luck”, I think it’s really our subconscious blocking success. most of the time comes from childhood trauma and certain belief systems we have about money and success.
We were not meant to be slaves to money but rather it should be a servant for us. Certain belief systems can block us from having what our conscious mind wants... the unconscious part of us may not want it though.
A lot of people are afraid of success but like I said, it’s playing in the background so we aren’t actually aware of this.
I hope this helps

Being rich is allowing freedom into your life
I’m 27 and I make close to a million a year and I’m going to make more and become the richest in my little world and help as many people as I can. you can make more money if not for yourself at least for your children and also to help others. Someone commented about investing in stock, that’s great and I recommend but that wouldn’t make you rich all of a sudden, that’s a long term investment but if you start a business you can make more, a business is a business, doesn’t matter what it is but the best business is a business that actually solves people’s needs, don’t worry about starting a mind blowing business no one has ever seen before but instead look at everything already existing, you can tap into any big business and just provide some kind of service they don’t have for their users and clients and that’s it. Wishing everyone success and god bless your hustle.
Wats your business

Dude many people trading stocks make over a million in a single trade, many learn about the stock market before you make statements like this for instance the KDAK spike made people into millionaires overnight

No Loving-Kindness
There was an old woman in China who had supported a monk for over twenty years. She had built a little hut for him and fed him while he was meditating. Finally she wondered just what progress he had made in all this time.
To find out, she obtained the help of a girl rich in desire. "Go and embrace him," she told her, "and then ask him suddenly: 'What now?'"
The girl called upon the monk and without much ado caressed him, asking him what he was going to do about it.
"An old tree grows on a cold rock in winter," replied the monk somewhat poetically. "Nowhere is there any warmth."
The girl returned and related what he had said.
"To think I fed that fellow for twenty years!" exclaimed the old woman in anger. "He showed no consideration for your needs, no disposition to explain your condition. He need not have responded to passion, but at least he should have evidenced some compassion."
She at once went to the hut of the monk and burned it down.
