Saman Dewalaya or the Great Saman Temple is located in Rathnapura Sri Lanka and the central highlands of Sri Lanka. Saman Dewalaya is a revered religious site dedicated to the deity Saman (Saman Deviyo). This sacred site holds cultural and religious significance for the people of Sri Lanka. This is one of the best places to visit in Sri Lanka and one of the best Historical Places in Sri Lanka.
Saman Dewalaya is believed to have been built in 1270 under the patronage of King “Parakramabahu II”. A minister going to “Aryakamadeva” had found a gem but said that if it was received, a temple would be built. It is stated that this was built as a result of receiving gems. In the past, however, the Portuguese have built a destructive church. However, it is mentioned that King “2nd Rajasinghe” did this again.
සමන් දේවාලය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ රත්නපුරයේ සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ මධ්‍යම කඳුකරයේ පිහිටා ඇත. මෙම පුදබිම ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ජනතාවට සංස්කෘතික හා ආගමික වැදගත්කමක් දරයි. මෙය ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ සංචාරය කිරීමට හොඳම ස්ථාන වලින් එකකි.
ක්‍රි.ව 1270 දෙවන පරාක්‍රමබාහු රජුගේ අනුග්‍රහය ඇතිව ඉදිකරනලද බව සැලකෙනව. අර්යකමදේව යන ඇමතිවරයෙක් මැණික් සොයා පැමින ඇතිබවත් එසේ මැණික් ලැබුනහොත් දේවාලයක් ඉදිකරන බවත් පවසා තිබෙනව. මැණික් ලැබීමේ ප්‍රතිපලයක් ලෙස මෙය ඉදිකරන ලද බව සඳහන් වෙනව. කෙසේවෙතත් අතීතයේදී මෙය පෘතුගීසීන් විසින් විනාශකර පල්ලියක් හදල තියනව. එහෙත් 2වන සීතාවක රාජසිංහ රජු නැවත මෙය සාදා ඇතිබව සඳහන් වෙනව.
