    Very interesting specimens. We have found incredible pieces of Redwood bark in a stratum about 16 million years old. Great video & Thanks for sharing.

    Love this! Me and my kid recently were out there! I got a few pieces but he was over it pretty quick. Definitely will be returning. Did you ever show what they looked like after removing the outer rock? How did you remove it? I have had mine just soaking in water for weeks because I'm to afraid to ruin them

      Cool! Most of the pieces I found I have just left them as they are, but you can soak some of them in dilute muriatic acid to remove some of the stuff on the outside. Just keep in mind, don't do this with pieces that have cool orange calcite crystals in them, because the acid will remove them as well.

    We found several (there are lots) cool rocks out there that have a waxy surface. Would that be chert?

    Could you believe it: the Devil's Tower, Mount Roraima in Venesuela, and all the great rocky plateaus on our planet are petrified tree trunks millions of years ago...

      Is that what PhD level geologist are saying? I get they look like it and there are mythologies that have been created, but that is not what the scientists say those are.

    Film and post Utah RH. Watch your state get dug up!!

      It is true that showing new locations will entice people to dig in new areas, but I believe this world is to be enjoyed. I will try and educate people in being more respectful of the areas they go, but each person will ultimately make their own decisions.

      Not trying to come off as an ass as I do enjoy your channel, but here we go lol. It appears that you did cover back up some of your holes, a lot of people don’t unfortunately and that’s evident if you’ve been out there and also many of our other great locations around the state! Hopefully you guys were out there multiple days, there is a 25lb per day per person +1 piece not to exceed 250 lbs per year rule that most don’t follow, it appears that you guys far exceeded that. When people don’t follow the rules or something as simple as burying their holes it eventually ruins it for everyone! Posting video of it on a public forum without eluding to or stating the rules that are in place that vary state to state and actually protect these areas for future enjoyment for everyone is both unprofessional and incriminating. There was another video uploaded in the past couple of weeks by another popular UA-cam rockhound there at the blue forest that clearly didn’t set a good example or abide by the rules, sadly it’s not always but more often than not out of staters that ruin our outdoor locations…

    Please don't think I am being too critical. I am a big fan and like your video. At the beginning you threw away a nice rock and said it was ugly. It is not ugly . It was just not what you are looking for. I see it just past the surface on my polishing machine. You can do something about the sound. It is called a filter and it is super cheap not 10s of dollars - you can even use such things as that thin foam air conditioner material. Even that soft sort of fuzzy type of bandage gauze can work. Of course I have no idea what kind of mike you are using. Thanks for this. I give a Thumbs Up.

    you're pronouncing it wrong. it pronounced cal=sid-ney. if you don't believe me google it

    • @theruggedrockhound
      @theruggedrockhound  2 роки тому

      It's actually pronounced cal-si-do-nee, but I am aware that I mispronounced it here by saying "chal" (happens sometimes when your filming). Everyone makes mistakes.
